dAccording to Alex Marvez, as of 12/3/06:

"The Dolphins have $91.2 million counting against the NFL's 2007 salary cap of $109 million. That figure is comprised of the cap figures of 35 players currently under contract and 'dead money' that counts toward players no longer with the team. A cap number is generally comprised of base salary, roster bonuses and a prorated portion of signing bonus."

What are your thoughts on these offseason moves?

If I remember correctly the Harrington trade/pick is gonna be a 5th rounder..it was mentioned that if he took a certain amount of snaps in goes up from a 6th.you have us with a 5th round pick

i think your on the money. if we sign briggs or thomas, our team really starts looking good. that big FA plus hitting on our first couple draft picks gives us 3 new starters. immediately a new starting olb instead of spragan, a new lt, and a future defensive starter either dt, de, or db i think.

so our secondary stays the same continues to improve, we upgrade our outside linebacker and left tackle situation. THENNNN our only wholes are at cb and wr if culpepper returnsto form.

I believe this team was a great blitzing linebacker away from having THE best defense in the NFL this past year. That's why I want a guy like Adalius Thomas. And I have it so that we don't really sign any other 'big' free agents (other than Vonnie Holliday, I guess he'll get a pretty big contract), so hopefully we can afford Adalius.

Essentially, the transactions I have the Dolphins making, gives them a really similar team to this past season, with a hopefully franchise LT in Levi Jones, and an All-NFL LB in Adalius Thomas, who can and has literally lined up at any position on the defensive side of the ball.

so we're not gonna draft a single offensive player in this draft other than a tackle? even though there is a glaring need for an offensive playmaker on this team...

The offseason needs to start with firing Mike Mularky, hes been total trash as a coordinator. Then hire a new coordinator and get new people based on what he needs to make his plan succeed.

firing mularkey is the way to go. it's not worth keeping him just for the sake of continuity. what do we do if our offense sucks with him calling the plays again next year?

Maybe i'm in the minority, but I think Chambers can be a number 1. Booker, Welker, Hagan provide solid depth all around at the WR position.

Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams at RB. Randy McMichael at TE.

With a healthy QB, this offense does not need a "playmaker." As far as the players go, it only needs a healthy Daunte Culpepper.

Then, I agree a new O-coordinator could be addressed. Although, I think a healthy Daunte Culpepper could make Mularkey look just fine as an O-coordinator.

Draft
  • 1: OT – Levi Brown – Penn St
  • 2: DE – Ray McDonald – Florida
  • 3: LB – KaMichael Hall – Georgia Tech
  • 4: K – Mason Crosby - Colorado
  • 5: S – Jesse Daniels - LSU
  • 7: LB – Troy Collavo - UTEP
  • UDFA: DB – Montavis Pitts – Jacksonville St

Nice research. However, we are scoring ~10points a game and I have serious doubts that we have any playmakers on this team on offense, and yet there are no offensive players in your draft other than OT?

Let the rest go.

We save alot of $$ and we get some Compensatory picks for getting rid of trash.

What do you propose for Defensive Tackle? Letting both Holliday and Traylor go opens a big hole at DT. Holliday should be kept.

Also, Kevin Carter is gonna have almost a 7 million-dollar cap number. If we let him go, we'll save a lot of cap room, and Matt Roth proved he can take his place this year. Let Roth step in as the starter, re-sign David Bowens, who can rotate in, and then maybe address another backup DE in the draft.

CC has not had that great of a year. I love the guy got to meet him in person but i mean yesterday with the drops CC droped that fly pass that went right through his hands. Idk he hasnt performed up to how he should have this year. But i mean i guess you have to cut him a little slack b/ he ahd to work w/ MM and joey for the season but thats no excuse for him droppping passes. Thats somehting that has to stop.

Traylor may retire this year, Holiday should take a pay cut if he stays.

We could go for NT in the draft.
