2015 Pro Days

did anyone watch Deshazor Everett get destroyed by Amari cooper though??? in like every way possible

where did he match up speed and cone wise with the combine CBs??? also i wonder if he improved his footwork all in all on the field... plus can he run long with WRs???

With a 4.47 40 he's got long speed. Would have ranked him 9th at the combine.

6.78 cone drill would have tied him for 3rd.

Vertical jump of 38" would have tied him for 6th.

10-10 board jump would have tied him for 3rd.

He's also decent size at 5'10" 188 lbs. Having not watched any of Texas A&M's games this past year I don't know what kind of player he is but given how awful there defense was I bet he didn't get much coaching.

Although i do agree, I wonder how you show that at a pro day?

Probably yelled at the cones to move over and shift their alignments. Cones seemed to be unresponsive but he was yelling.

For a fast, physically gifted player, Deshazor Everett gets burned over the top really easily.

For a fast, physically gifted player, Deshazor Everett gets burned over the top really easily.

this is why i questioned his long speed.... maybe its just his footwork and route awareness isnt great, or just his acceleration lacks too... not sure

2015 Pro Days: Edge rushers the story at Arkansas, Mississippi State

While the hype revolves around the quarterbacks (like every year), the strongest position in the 2015 NFL Draft is pass rusher. Two of the best from the SEC showed off their size and athleticism during popular Pro Days on Wednesday.

Representatives from 30 NFL teams at Arkansas watched Second Team All-SEC defensive end Trey Flowers shave approximately a tenth of a second off of the 4.93 time he ran in the 40-yard dash at the Combine. Flowers worked out as a defensive end and as a linebacker, as you can see in this video.

The 6-foot-2 266-pounder is a good athlete for his compact frame but showed some stiffness when flipping his hips in linebacker drills and shows only normal (rather than explosive) acceleration. He's a savvy, physical pass rusher who could play a Pernell McPhee-like role in a 3-4 scheme or operate as a traditional defensive end in a 4-3 alignment.

Flowers is one of four Razorbacks invited to the Combine but the only one currently ranked among NFLDraftScout.com's top 100 prospects. Linebacker Martrell Spaight was timed in the mid 4.7s after his official time in Indianapolis was 4.88. Defensive lineman Darius Philon came in at 4.82 seconds.

The most important workout in Fayetteville, though, came from former quarterback turned tight end AJ Derby, who wasn't unable to participate at the Combine. He was clocked in the low 4.7s and showed crisp routes and secure hands during his positional drills.

There were 16 players who participated in the workout, including former quarterback Tyler Wilson, who threw passes.

Meanwhile in Starkville, linebacker Benardrick McKinney and defensive end Preston Smith elected to stand on their solid Combine performances and elected only to participate in positional drills.

Not surprisingly, each excelled, demonstrating the length and range that led to each prospect earning top 100 projections on NFLDraftScout.com's board.

Of the two, the 6-foot-5, 271 pound Smith was said to have the slightly more impressive workout, according to a league scout on hand. Smith showed impressive agility and strength throughout the defensive line drills and showed some body control when changing directions while dropping and even catching passes.

The 6-foot-4, 246 pound McKinney showed "light feet and quick, heavy hands" during pass rush drills - traits that have scouts from 3-4 and 4-3 teams alike intrigued.

The scout estimated that every team in the league was represented.

I'm a firm believer that A.J. Derby is the most underrated TE prospect in the draft. He's as good as there is in this class. In addition, he still has upside after only playing the position for a year.

Texas A&M Pro Day
A little more on cornerback Deshazor Everett. I'm told he looked smooth and very fluid in all the drills besides running faster than many expected. After the workout, Everett met with the Tampa Bay Bucs, Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans.

James Madison Pro Day
The James Madison pro-day took place yesterday with headliner Dean Marlowe taking part in defensive back drills.

Two prospects of note.

Sage Harold, the team's defensive end who projects to linebacker and a relative of Virginia's Eli Harold, timed under 4.7 seconds in the 40 with some watches having him as fast as 4.63 seconds.

Daniel Brown, the team's leading receiver the past two seasons, timed between 4.52 seconds and 4.58 seconds in the 40 after measuring 6-foor-4.5 and 227 pounds. His othermarks included a 6.88-second time in the three-cone drill and a 4.15-second time in the short shuttle.

Mississippi State Pro Day
I'm learning more from the Mississippi State pro-day.

Cornerback Jamerson Love was timed at 4.49 seconds in the 40, while receiver Jameon Lewis was in the 4.57-second range.

Teams came away very impressed with the versatility Preston Smith displayed. He was quick and fast off the edge in defensive line drills and also fluid in linebacker drills.

I'm told Benardrick McKinney looked good in pass-rush drills. If he does land in the latter part of Round 1, those leaving the pro-day believe the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys are teams that could potentially pull the trigger. The surprise team in the mix are the Houston Texans, who are likely to lose Brooks Reed in free agency.

Purdue Pro Day
I'm told yesterday Purdue's Ryan Russell met with the Arizona Cardinals and Philadelphia Eagles during the Boilermakers' pro day. Interesting in that the Eagles will be looking to replace Trent Cole, whom they recently cut.

Nebraska Pro Day
The Minnesota Vikings have spent and extensive amount of time with Gregory before the start of today's workout. We expected there will be a team or two who grabs him afterward. At the time of posting, Gregory is only planning on participating in position drills.

I'm still waiting on results from Nebraska pro day but this I can tell you: As of yesterday, the San Francisco 49ers were expected to meet with Randy Gregory after today's workout.

I'm told the times for running back Ameer Abdullah were all over the place, as pro-day times usually are. The first times were in the high 4.5s, with the second clocking showing 4.45 on the watches of a few coaches. The consensus is that the final time will be in right around 4.50. Regardless, it was much better than his Combine performance.

Clemson Pro Day
Clemson is done with the testing, and the players are now going through drills at present time.

Here's an interesting note on Vic Beasley, whom I'm told tipped the scales at 246 pounds today. The explosive defender did not meet with any teams last night as two days ago, his uncle passed away. An uncle who evidently was like a second dad to Beasley. Beasley went to the funeral and drove back to school yesterday, arriving on campus at 4 a.m. this morning for the pro-day workout.

A few numbers from today's Clemson workout:

Defensive tackle Josh Watson 37 reps on the bench, Grady 33 reps on the bench (30 at combine), Corey Crawford just 17 on bench (did not participate at Combine).

Watson ran an impressive 4.95 in the 40. Quandon Christian, who graduated in 2013 and was in camp last summer, posted a 4.75 40.

I'm told scouts and coaches came away impressed with the practice drills of all the defensive linemen.

Here are even more numbers and notes from the Clemson Pro Day:

Grady Jarrett tipped the scales at 298 pounds (304 lbs. at the Combine).

Watson measured 6-4, 298, posted a vertical jump of 32.5 inches, broad jump of 9-2, and a short shuttle of 4.49.

Crawford told people on hand the reason he did not participate at the Senior Bowl was due to a high ankle sprain. Crawford's non-appearance in Mobile rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

Again, I continue to hear multiple sources gush over how the entire group of defensive linemen performed.

I'm told linebacker Stephone Anthony had a phenomenal day. He only did position drills but teams were impressed with his overall performance, especially his cover skills. Anthony met with the Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers yesterday before having dinner with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Anthony has been on a straight shot north up draft boards since September. He stood out during the Senior Bowl, then looked terrific at the Combine and capped it off today at pro day. How high will Anthony be selected? The second round seems like a lock but it now looks as though he'll be chosen in the early to middle part of the frame. That poses a problem for a team like the Green Bay Packers, who've shown a lot of interest in the linebacker.

New Mexico Pro Day
The star of the pro day in New Mexico was not a Lobo; rather, Tyler Slavin, a receiver from New Mexico Highlands, who totaled 106 receptions for 1,234 yards and 15 touchdowns last year.

Slavin measured 6-2, 215 pounds, then ran 4.52/4.54 in the 40, touched 34 inches in the vertical jump and 9-7 in the broad. Slavin also caught the ball very well and if nothing else, secured an invitation to camp this summer.

The St Louis Rams, Arizona Cardinals, San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders were on hand.

here comes the Stephone Anthony hypes some more now!!!

Best wishes to Beasley... thats tough.

and word on how Gregory actually performed??? and hopefully McKinney gets big looks from teams like Dallas, GB, and Indy

Arkansas Pro Day
A total of 17 prospects worked out, including four who were at the NFL Scouting Combine. The event was held indoors and run on a very good surface.

Defensive tackle Darius Philon (6-foot-1 1/8, 198) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.99 and 4.89 seconds. He had a 20-yard short shuttle time of 4.75 seconds and a three-cone drill time of 7.53 seconds. He stood on the rest of his numbers from the combine. Philon is a good player, who will probably be a third-day pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Tight end A.J. Derby (6-3 3/4, 251) ran the 40 in 4.75 and 4.69 seconds. He did the short shuttle in 4.51 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.99 seconds. He had a good workout, and caught the ball well going through his tight end drills.

Defensive end Trey Flowers (6-2 1/8, 263) ran the 40 in 4.83 and 4.87 seconds. He had a 36 1/2-inch vertical jump, did the three-cone drill in 7.28 seconds, and then stood on the rest of his numbers from the combine (he was a top performer among his peers in the vertical jump, broad jump and 60-yard shuttle). At Arkansas' pro day, Flowers worked out both as a defensive end and as a drop-back type linebacker. His best NFL position, however, will be with his hand in the ground rushing the passer.

Outside linebacker Martrell Spaight (6-0 1/8, 237) ran the 40 in 4.80 and 4.83 seconds. He had a 9-foot-6 broad jump, a 7.10-second three-cone time, and then stood on the rest of his numbers from the combine. Spaight looked good in the positional drills and will probably be a third-day draft selection.

Purdue Pro Day
Representatives from 15 NFL teams, including a linebackers coach from the Arizona Cardinals and a running backs coach from the Indianapolis Colts, were present at Purdue's pro day on Wednesday.

A total of 14 players worked out indoors on FieldTurf at the Mollenkopf Athletic Center, where a running back not invited to the NFL Scouting Combine might have vaulted himself into 2015 NFL Draft consideration.

Defensive end Ryan Russell (6-foot-4 3/8, 268 pounds) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.74 and 4.68 seconds. Unfortunately, he strained his right hamstring on the second attempt. He tried to continue the workout, but it did not go well due to the hamstring injury.

Running back Akeem Hunt (5-9 3/4, 189) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.40 and 4.36 seconds. He had a 37-inch vertical jump and 10-foot-2 broad jump. He did the 20-yard short shuttle in 4.11 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.71 seconds. He performed 14 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. Hunt really was impressive in the positional workout, looking outstanding catching the ball coming out of the backfield. Based on this workout, Hunt will be a draft choice, most likely in the late rounds.

Purdue's pro day, led by the Boilermakers' very active head coach Darrell Hazell, was a well-organized event.

Texas A&M Pro Day
Texas A&M's pro day on Wednesday was a bit more subdued than 2014, when the school hosted two pro days to accomodate Johnny Manziel. Still, this year's pro day was well-attended, with a total of 36 scouts representing 28 NFL teams present, a contingent that included San Diego Chargers special-teams coach Kevin Spencer and Indianapolis Colts tight ends coach Alfredo Roberts.

A total of 13 players worked out in ideal conditions, indoors and on FieldTurf.

Guard Jarvis Harrison (6-foot-4 3/8, 327 pounds) showed up late to the pro day (he said his wristwatch alarm clock didn't go off on time). Harrison stood on his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine, where he was a top performer in his position group in the three-cone drill. Harrison -- who has 33 1/4-inch arms -- is a good football player and looked very good in the positional drills. He can play left tackle or guard. Teams will just have to hope that a prospect with this much ability can get his act together because he can have a future in the NFL.

Running back Trey Williams (5-7 1/2, 193) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.49 and 4.45 seconds. Williams stood on the rest of his numbers from the combine, where he was a top performer among running backs in the 40-yard dash, three-cone drill and 20-yard short shuttle. At the end of the pro-day workout, Williams caught punts and showed that he had very good hands. His height is a factor, but he's a little guy with a lot of ability.

Tight end Cameron Clear (6-5 5/8, 276) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.92 and 4.90 seconds. He had a 32 1/2-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot broad jump. He didn't participate in the bench press or shuttle runs (he was a top performer among tight ends at the combine in both the 20-yard short shuttle and the 60-yard shuttle). Clear is still rehabbing a right elbow hyperextension suffered during the season, and did not have an outstanding pro-day workout. Some team might consider perhaps putting some weight on Clear and making an offensive tackle out of him.

Kicker Josh Lambo (6-1 1/8, 215) looks like a very good kicker (he went to Texas A&M after having given professional soccer a try as a goalkeeper with FC Dallas in Major League Soccer). The Chargers' special-teams coach was at A&M's pro day to get a good look at Lambo and try him out.

Offensive tackle Cedric Ogbuehi (6-5 1/2, 303) has very long 35 7/8-inch arms. He is still recovering from right ACL surgery and has not been able to participate in postseason all-star games, the combine or pro day. No date has been set for a workout from Ogbuehi. This is one of those prospects that if a team has an extra choice somewhere in the draft, you take a long look at this kid. At one time, Ogbuehi was considered a top-25 draft prospect.

Free safety Floyd Raven (6-0 3/8, 202) ran the 40 in 4.46 and 4.52 seconds. He had a 34-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-4 broad jump. He posted times of 4.46 seconds in the 20-yard short shuttle and 6.89 seconds in the three-cone drill. He performed 17 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. Raven is a free-agent pickup possibility for a team following the draft.

Texas A&M's pro day was well-organized, and with a lunch of Mexican food served everybody left happy.

Illinois Pro Day
Representatives from 15 NFL teams were present at Illinois' pro day on Thursday, when 12 players -- including two from area small colleges -- worked out indoors on FieldTurf.

Running back Donovonn Young (5-foot-11 1/4, 219 pounds) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.76 and 4.75 seconds. He had a 33-inch vertical jump and 9-foot-7 broad jump. He did the 20-yard short shuttle in 4.29 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.19 seconds. He performed 26 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. Young had a good positional workout.

Tight end Jon Davis (6-5 7/8, 257) ran the 40 in 4.68 and 4.64 seconds. He had a 30-inch vertical jump and 9-foot broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.67 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.3 seconds. He also had 20 strength lifts. He caught the ball well during the positional workout, but is not an impressive athlete.

Illinois provided a nice breakfast for the scouts in attendance at the pro day.

Nebraska Pro Day
Representatives from 28 NFL teams, including assistant coaches from the New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers, attended Nebraska's pro day on Thursday.

Nine Nebraska players, plus another prospect from Nebraska-Kearney, worked out indoors on FieldTurf.

Outside linebacker Randy Gregory (6-foot-4 5/8, 238 pounds) ran the 60-yard shuttle in 11.81 seconds and did the three-cone drill in 6.79 seconds. Gregory stood on the rest of his numbers from the combine in order to concentrate on his rigorous positional workout, during which he put on a show. Gregory is very lean and has narrow shoulders. He is extremely athletic.

Running back Ameer Abdullah (5-8 3/4, 202) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.54 and 4.53 seconds. He stood on the rest of his numbers from the combine, where he was a top performer among running backs in the vertical jump, broad jump, three-cone drill, 20-yard short shuttle and 60-yard shuttle. Abdullah did a really good job in the positional drills. He was really quick and caught the ball extremely well out of the backfield.

Wide receiver Kenny Bell (6-1, 196) ran the 40 in 4.38 and 4.37 seconds. He stood on the rest of his numbers from the combine, where he was a top performer among wide receivers in the vertical jump, broad jump and three-cone drill. Bell looked really good in the pass-catching drills.

Linebacker Trevor Roach (6-2 1/8, 237) ran the 40 in 4.78 and 4.79 seconds. He had a short shuttle time of 4.23 seconds and a three-cone time of 6.80 seconds. He had a 35 1/2-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot broad jump. He performed 25 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. Roach is a priority free-agent possibility after the 2015 NFL Draft.

Nebraska-Kearney center Cole Manhart (6-4 3/8, 298) ran the 40 in 5.35 and 5.40 seconds. He performed 24 strength lifts. Manhart is a rookie free-agent possibility for a team

Sacramento State Pro Day
Representatives from four NFL teams were present for Sacramento State's pro day on Thursday.

The pro day was held outdoors and players ran with spikes, which gave them a faster track. Nine players from Sacramento State and two players from Humboldt State worked out. One player from the group -- a quarterback -- has a chance to be a priority free agent.

One scout said the QB -- Sacramento State's Garrett Safron (6-0 7/8, 200 pounds) -- "threw the leather off the ball," so he had good velocity on his throws. He started a little slow, as his first three or four throws were high, but he settled in after that and was very accurate. Safron is a very good athlete.

Safron ran 4.78 on both of his 40-yard dashes. He recorded a 36 1/2-inch vertical and had a 10-foot-7 broad jump. He ran the short shuttle in 4.22 seconds and performed the three-cone drill in 6.85 seconds. He did not bench press.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...b-garrett-safron-could-be-priority-free-agent

Utah State Pro Day
Nineteen NFL teams were on hand for Utah State's pro day on Thursday.

The workout was described as exceptionally well-organized, and 13 players worked out -- 11 from Utah State and two from Weber State. The workout was held indoors on field turf. None of the players that worked out had been invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, but at least one of the players has a chance to be picked late in the draft, and a few others will likely be priority free agents this year.

Utah State free safety Ryan Suite (6-foot-2 5/8, 203 pounds) recorded 40-yard dash times of 4.47 and 4.55 seconds. Suite had a 37 1/2-inch vertical and a 10-foot-2 broad jump. He ran the short shuttle in 4.23 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.65 seconds. He had 14 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. Suite could potentially be picked toward the bottom of the draft and definitely will be a priority free agent if he doesn't get picked.

Joe Hill (5-10 3/8, 184), a running back from Utah State, was very impressive in the 40-yard dash, recording times of 4.28 and 4.31 seconds. The fastest 40 time at the combine this year was 4.28, by UAB wide receiver J.J. Nelson. Hill had a vertical of 34 1/2-inches and a 9-8 broad jump. He performed the short shuttle in 4.59 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.25 seconds. He had nine reps of 225 pounds on the bench press and could be a priority free agent.

Utah State linebacker Zach Vigil (6-2, 236) had a good workout and will likely be a priority free agent. He ran 4.68 and 4.67 in the 40. He recorded a 32-inch vertical, 9-5 broad jump, 4.41 short shuttle and 7.11 three-cone drill. Vigil had 26 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press.

A Weber State wide receiver who has a chance to be signed as a free agent, Shaydon Kehano (5-10 3/8, 182 pounds), ran the 40 in 4.53 and 4.56 seconds. He had a 37 1/2-inch vertical and a 10-2 broad jump. He performed the short shuttle in 4.13 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.87 seconds. He had 21 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press.

Utah State offensive lineman Bill Vava'u (6-3 1/4, 328 pounds) recorded a vertical of 29 inches and broad jump of 8-5. His hands measured at 10.5 inches, and his arms measured 33 5/8 inches. He performed 25 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press, but pulled his left hamstring on his first run and wasn't able to work out in individual drills.

Arizona State Pro Day
Representatives from all 32 NFL teams were present at Arizona State's pro day on Friday, when 13 players worked out indoors on FieldTurf.

There were six NFL position coaches in attendance, with each coach running a drill for a prospect at his respective position.

Wide receiver Jaelen Strong (6-foot-2 5.8, 219 pounds) ran the 20-yard short shuttle in 4.19 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.33 seconds. He stood on his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine in the 40-yard dash (4.44 seconds), broad jump (10 feet, 3 inches) and vertical jump (42 inches, which was second-best among wide receivers at the combine). Strong went through a 56-play scripted positional workout, which was run by San Diego Chargers wide receivers coach Fred Graves. Strong did an exceptional job in the workout, catching everything thrown his way.

NFL Media analysts Lance Zierlein (to the Baltimore Ravens), Charles Davis (to the Seattle Seahawks) and Daniel Jeremiah (to the Cleveland Browns) all have Strong projected to go in the first round in their latest mock drafts.

Offensive guard Jamil Douglas (6-4 3/8, 309) did the short shuttle in 4.58 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.73 seconds. He stood on the rest of his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine. An offensive line coach from the Indianapolis Colts put Douglas through his positional workout.

Defensive end Marcus Hardison (6-3 1/4, 305) ran the 40 in 4.92 and 4.97 seconds. He had a 25 1/2-inch vertical jump and 8-foot-11 broad jump. Minnesota Vikings defensive line coach Andre Patterson put Hardison through his positional workout.

Free safety Damarious Randall (5-10 5/8, 198) did a 35-inch vertical, but that won't really count since he jumped three inches higher at the combine. Randall was a top performer at the combine in his position group in the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, three-cone drill and 20-yard shuttle.

Arizona State head coach Todd Graham was very accomodating for the NFL scouts, expressing that he'd take time to talk to any team who wants to discuss a Sun Devils prospect.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...-catches-everything-at-arizona-states-pro-day

That's a terrible 3-cone time for Strong. Ali Marpet (7.33) and Jake Fisher (7.25) ran the 3-cone just as fast or faster. Looks like the lack of separation in the tape isn't a lack of refined route running.

Mississippi Pro Day
Representatives from 27 NFL teams, including a defensive backs coach from the New York Jets, were present to see 16 players work out at Ole Miss' pro day on Thursday.

Cornerback Senquez Golson (5-foot-8 3/4, 180 pounds) had 16 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press and a time of 11.93 seconds in the 60-yard shuttle (staying on the rest of his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine). Golson -- who made a pivotal interception in Ole Miss' upset of Alabama in October -- was very fluid in the positional workout and displayed great ball skills.

Free safety Cody Prewitt (6-2 3/8, 208) ran much better at his pro day than he did at the combine in the 40-yard dash, posting times of 4.47 and 4.46 seconds (he ran 4.6 in Indianapolis). He also performed 12 strength lifts. Prewitt also showed good ball skills during his positional workout.

Quarterback Bo Wallace (6-3 5/8, 211) ran the 40 in 5.1 and 5.07 seconds. He had an 8-foot-8 broad jump. He went through a scripted positional workout and did an adequate job doing so. Wallace's workout was put together by former NFL quarterback John Beck.

One relatively unknown prospect was really impressive to the scouts present at Ole Miss' pro day.

Defensive end Carlos Thompson (6-4 1/4, 252) ran the 40 in 4.75 and 4.77 seconds. He had a 38-inch vertical jump and 10-foot-3 broad jump. He did the 20-yard short shuttle in 4.54 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.51 seconds. Thompson recorded 1.5 sacks in limited playing time while at Ole Miss, but might have had so impressive of a pro-day workout that he could get drafted as a pass-rushing prospect. At worst, Thompson will be a priority free-agent pickup for an NFL team following the 2015 NFL Draft.

The scouts at hand were treated to a big breakfast and lunch.

Furman Pro Day
Five NFL teams were on hand to watch four players work out in very poor conditions at Furman's pro day Thursday. It had been raining earlier in the day, causing the field to be very wet, which had a big effect on times.

Gary Wilkins (6-foot-1 1/4, 240 pounds), a defensive end whose father, Gary, played in the NFL, posted 40 times of 4.76 and 4.80, but those times probably aren't indicative of his speed because the field was so poor. Wilkins also had a 36-inch vertical, a 9-9 broad jump, a 4.67 short shuttle, a 7.31 3-cone drill, and 23 strength lifts.

Safety Marcus McMorris (5-foot-11 1/4, 203 pounds) clocked a fast 3-cone drill of 6.94 seconds, which is very good, considering the weather and condition of the field. He also ran the 40 twice in 4.55 seconds and posted a 37-inch vertical, a 9-7 broad jump, a 4.20 shuttle, and 18 strength lifts. Brian Adams, a scout for the New Orleans Saints, worked McMorris out in position drills. McMorris has a chance to be a priority free agent.

New Mexico Pro Day
Representatives from four NFL teams, including San Diego Chargers executive Randy Mueller, attended New Mexico's pro day on Thursday, when 12 players -- plus two from New Mexico-Highlands -- worked out indoors on FieldTurf.

Cornerback SaQwan Edwards (6-foot-0 3/8, 200 pounds) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.53 and 4.52 seconds. He had a 10-foot broad jump and a 36-inch vertical jump. He did the 20-yard short shuttle in 4.13 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.01 seconds. He performed 10 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. Edwards was a junior college transfer to New Mexico from Blinn College, and made a switch from wide receiver to cornerback for the 2013 season. Edwards has good quickness for his size, and could be a priority free-agent signing following the 2015 NFL Draft.

Wide receiver Tyler Duncan (5-11 1/2, 199) ran the 40 in 4.49 and 4.52 seconds. He had a 31 1/2-inch vertical jump and 10-foot-7 broad jump. He did the three-cone drill in 7.08 seconds and the 20-yard short shuttle in 4.18 seconds. Duncan, who had 12 receptions for 293 yards and two touchdowns for the Lobos in 2014, looks like a free-agent possibility for some team after the draft.

Northern Illinois Pro Day
Representatives from 15 NFL teams were on hand for Northern Illinois' pro day Friday, when seven players worked out indoors on FieldTurf at the school's brand-new facility.

Wide receiver Da'Ron Brown (6-foot-0, 203 pounds) didn't run or jump and decided to stand on his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine. There was a disappointment that Brown didn't run, since there was a feeling that he could run faster than he did while in Indianapolis (he posted a 40-yard dash time of 4.54 seconds). In the positional workout, Brown caught passes from former Northern Illinois quarterback Chandler Harnish -- who was "Mr. Irrelevant" in the 2012 NFL Draft. Brown caught the ball well. When facing the quarterback, Brown had no drops. When tracking passes thrown over his head, he had two drops.

Southern Mississippi Pro Day
Sixteen teams were present and seven players worked out Friday at Southern Miss' pro day. Players ran and worked out outdoors on field turf. They did their jumps indoors.

The main attraction was defensive lineman Rakeem Nunez-Roches (6-foot-2 1/2, 311 pounds).

He stood on his testing numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine but did perform drills Friday and looked very good moving around.

Nunez-Roches has a chance to be picked late in the third round or early in the fourth round.

Those on hand for the Southern Miss pro day were treated to breakfast before the workouts and sandwiches after the workouts. It was described as a very well-run event.
