Name your 5 regular season Miami losses that still just piss you off when you think about it.

For me in no particular order:

    2003- Texans 21 Dolphins 20

Miami was I wanna say like 17 pt favorites against 2nd year Houston. I felt bad about that game when Houston was up 3-0 for the longest time ever. Miami went up 14-3 and all looked well until Miami kept turning the ball over. Very embarrassing loss to and 2nd year team and freaking David Carr.

    2000- Jets 40 Dolphins 37

    Enough said

    2009- Colts 27 Dolphins 23

Dolphins dominated time of possession with the colts only having the ball for 15 mins. Peyton Manning made it look so easy.

    2011- Broncos 18 Dolphins 15

The embarrassing Tim tebow day gets even more embarrassing when Miami blows a 15 point lead, and a shutout in the final 3 mins as Denver wins for the first time ever in Miami.

    2010-Steelers 23 Dolphins 22

Miami jobbed by the refs as Miami appeared to have sealed the win with a Roethlisberger fumble but Gene Steratore said otherwise...

1993- Week 17 @ NE. It's simple win and we're in the playoffs. Marino was lost for season due to Achilles injury. Bledsoe throws GW touchdown pass season over.

1989- Sammie Smith fresh off a fumbled TD attempt on a goal line dive in a home game vs the Oilers; lightning struck twice as THE exact thing happens a week later at home vs the Chiefs.

2007- The infamous home game vs NE. They're blowing us out we score 2 quick TDs, they proceed to run up the score. We lose several players in this game to season-ending injuries.

2000- Monday Night Miracle in the Meadowlands. All I'll say is that I lost the football pool that week because of the game. Basically $125 down the drain. To a 23 year old back then that $ could've lasted a while.

2003- Season opener vs Texans. Crazy irony is that my firstborn is approx 12 hours old and I find out that it's televised locally(resides in Redskins country). Didn't watch the game of course enjoying first-time fatherhood. I'm pissed because I saw the highlights later and Ricky had a great game that was in vain losing to the fresh off an expansion year Texans franchise.

    Sorry about the last one

The loss to Green Bay in Miami about 3 or 4 years ago. Philip F'king Wheeler matched against their TE.
We had played pretty well but Aaron Rodgers shredded us in the final minute to come from behind. This was the game that fully exposed the shortcomings of Joe Philbin's coaching. Poor time management. Poor positional matchups. Old Joe was close in this game but he didn't know how to win it.

God that 2007 game vs New England was awful. 42-0 halftime was it?

Ones that haven't been brought up yet:

1986 Jets 51 Miami 45. It was a historic game would have like to been on the right side of it.

1989 Bills 27 Dolphins 24. Opening day and we lose on the last play of the game.

2002 Bills 38 Miami 21. Ricky ran for 228 yards 2tds and we couldn't give him any support

Ugh what a waste of Ricky's talents in that Bills game. Bills always have mediocre WRs that have big days vs Miami

No particular order games that I've witnessed in my time as a phins fan

    2009 Miami vs saints 46-34
We were absolutely destroying the saints somehow we let them back into the game one of the worst Miami losses ever

2003 Houston game we let an expansion team beat us embarrassing

2003 mia vs New England 19-13
Game went into overtime tom Brady threw an 82 yard touchdown pass in overtime to beat Miami

    2014 GB vs Miami 27-24
Anyone who seen the last drive knows why haha

2014 Denver vs Miami 39-36 we were in the playoff hunt Miami was dominating Denver in all facets of the game but as usual the dolphins allowed a team to come back and beat us I was furious with this game made furious this is the day when I thought philbin should be fired

And a runner up for some humor
    2006 Miami doesn't sign drew Bree's

On a positive note my favorite dolphins win all time was 2004 Miami vs New England 29-28 led by an feeley that's my most memorable game such a nail bitter loved the entire game while Brady was getting destroyed all night

For me the most painful game was marino's last playoff game. 62-7 to Jax. Made us look like we didn't belong.

Monday night miracle...even though the whole experience was fun for me, fond memories until the end, ouch, never been so miserable leaving a movie theatre, half drunk to boot.

2016 week 1 - should have won that game, gotta catch that ball.

The Sammy Smith debacle was in 1991, not in 1989. And the fumble against the Oilers was at home, in the game before the bye-- I know because I was there.

The last game of the 1991 season was worse. Loss to the Jets in overtime that sends them to the playoffs instead of Miami. And what a letdown season sandwiched between two very good ones.

1991 - lost to Jets last week of season and missed playoffs. (Combined with blown lead and loss to San Diego week before). Olivadotti specials.
2003 - Home vs Pats in overtime. This game permanently sent both franchises in opposite directions.
    2000 - Jets MNM.
2002 - lost to Pats last week of season to miss playoffs (combined with loss to Minnesota week before). Pats weren't even that good yet.
2013 - Combined losses to Bills/Jets to finish the year to miss playoffs.

The week before at the Chiefs, Smith fumbled at the 1 yard line for a 99 yard return. His career was effectively over a week later v. Oilers.

Going way back, I remember a 10-7 loss to Bert Jones and Baltimore that put Miami at 10-4 for the season and out of the playoffs. I believe that was 1977.

Same year, the Dolphins lost early in the season 20-19 to Houston. So the Dolphins were that close to finishing 12-2 with possible home field advantage. Tough season to end 10-4 and not to advance to the playoffs.

That Monday night loss to the Jets and blowing a big lead was hard to take as well. That was probably the worst officiating I have ever seen in the NFL with phantom pass interference calls fueling the New York comeback.

The 2002 game was a total special teams implosion. We dominated for 56 minutes w Ricky at 180 yards and 2 TDs. Then we give up a TD and 2 pointer, they kickoff and we have no return man deep, fearing the o sides. Welter runs back covers kick at the 1. Instead of handing ball to Ricky w throw 3 incompletions off the noodle arm of jay fiedler - then mark royals punta about 25 yards. NE doesn't get a first down but kicks game tying FG. We kickoff and shank it OOB to start OT. They go down and kick FG and Jets go to the playoffs, NE and Miami go home. Pathetic.

One thing that doesn't get talked about enough is back then you could go 10-4 and miss the playoffs. We did 2x during our glory years. Never know had expanded playoff format existed back then. 10-4 is damn good.

Good point. That 1977 defeat was hard to take for the very reason that the AFC was really up for grabs that year. Pittsburgh didn't have a great year. Denver had a fantastic defense, but their offense wasn't very good. The Broncos went on to the super bowl and turned in a stinker, but have to think Miami would have had a real chance that year.

To me, those are the tough ones to take. Losing with a team that has no chance still hurts, but not nearly the same as when you believe your team can go far.

Colts had a good three year run from '75, '76, '77 (Bert Jones, Lydell Mitchell, Roger Carr). Miami went 10-4, 6-8 and 10-4 and missed the postseason all three years. Tough stretch for us, but I honestly think Shula did some of his best coaching during that time.

My worst is 85 AFC Championship loss to Pats. 2 special team fumbles.
The other is 93 loss to Chargers. We were up 20-3 at half.

Jacksonville crushed the Dolphins in JJ's last game as Dolphin coach. The score was awful, it felt like about 67-3.

Pats 2002 - Should have gotten a QB after that game.
Texans 2003 - Started season 5-1, we don't lose that game we probably make the playoffs
Steelers 2007 - That game just summed up what miserable season we had
Any game we should have won comfortably in the Sparano era, but barely won or lost.
Losing to Thad Lewis, the Bucs and the last 2 games in 2013
The Pack in 14, The Vikings later that year because it saved Philbin's job

    Since I've been a fan:

    Bears 2010
    Texans 2012- Tannehill's Christening
Cowboys on Thanksgiving 11'- Had the game wrapped up but lo and behold, the defense yet again can't stop an offense from coming back.
Tampa Bay 2013- Gave them their first win of the season smh
Surprised no one mentioned the Detroit loss in 2014.

That 2002 Vikings game at the dome. Gary Anderson hits That FG that bounces over the crossbar which basically eliminated Miami from the playoffs.

AFC Divisional Game vs San Diego in 1995. Stoyanovich misses the game-winning kick that would've had Miami in the AFC Title Game.

The only game that literally made me cry (I was 13).

I honestly can't think of one that still irks me.

They usually bother me for the season itself then once a new season starts i forget the feeling. Also looking back, any losses that got Sparano and Philbin canned make me smile a little bit.

There are many, but I'll just mention one. And frankly, I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned earlier.

Super bowl vs. the San Francisco 49'ers.
I had no idea at the time how important that loss would be for me. I desperately wanted Dan Marino to win a Super Bowl and validate his GOAT career performance for the "nothing but Super Bowl rings matter" crowd. At the time, I expected to be back to the Super Bowl. At the time I was downtrodden but hopeful. At the time I didn't fully comprehend how great Dan Marino really was (I was just a kid). That sting never went away. In fact, over time it stung more and more. Perhaps it is fading some now because I'm just happy some people remember the great performances of Dan Marino, as time moves on pushing all of it, my memories and the sting of that loss, out of the public interest.

The Undefeated team will live in infamy forever as everyone and their brother jealously covets what they accomplished and indirectly praises them by attempting to argue that it somehow meant less than today. But, jealously, they all still covet what only the Undefeated team has.

Personally, I wanted Marino to have a Super Bowl ring. And that is the one that really stings.

If you want a 2nd game, it would be our AFC playoff loss to the Patriots in 1985. We beat the Bears and were the only team to do it. We did it because Marino processed information so quickly, had such great vision, and our WR's had such great quickness that even those overload schemes of Ryan couldn't stop our offensive juggernaut. We created a blueprint for other teams to follow, and in 1986, those Bears teams were beatable. They were beatable because they took what Dan Marino and Don Shula did and used that game plan. But, in 1985, the Dolphins lost to the friggin' New England Patriots, who weren't really that good. Had we won that game I suspect we would have beaten the Bears again in the Super Bowl, and Dan Marino would have had his ring.

Who was the backup QB? Damon Huard? I think we win that game if Huard was the starter. Huard was on fire and they decided to bench him. This is the same thing when NE won the superbowl with Brady and Bledsoe and they never benched Brady.

    Dolphins at Giants 2011..

Personal reason (brothers a Giants fan)

When Marshall clearly didn't do anything to warrant an offensive Pass Int call and they called it when it was clearly on the Giants yet Marshall still caught it.

It was the game sealing play and then the Giants went on to win. Terrible call and if Marshall didn't catch it the refs wouldn't have called anything at all.

They went and scored 10 unanswered lol Matt Moore was our QB and Bush went for 103 yds carving up their Defense. Not much meaning but a very tough loss for personal reasons lol

If you listed a playoff game you get an F in following directions. The title of the threat is "...Regular Season Loss" Of course playoff losses would be way worse than regular season.

Can't believe you remember the 89 Bills game.. The game was blacked out so I was listening to it on the radio.. I was 14 at the time.. Bills had the ball at the 2 yard line with several seconds left.. I remember screaming out watch the sneak, watch the sneak... Jim Kelly ran it in for the TD. I was shellshocked for a week. I remember sitting at the dinner table in a state of disbelief. I think I cried too.

I remember that game because I had to work, luckily the store I worked at it on all their TVs in their electronic department. Miami was 0-7 I think and they went up 17-0 vs the Giants. Of course they choked that game but man Miami has let Eli off the hook too many times.

lol I'm always pissed with every Dolphins playoff loss. But some regular season loses still piss me off to this day, which obviously was the point of this thread.
