Dolphins | Team still has many needs
Thu, 24 Apr 2008 09:32:19 -0700
The Associated Press reports the Miami Dolphins realize that they still have many needs to address in this year's NFL Draft. Head coach Tony Sparano said the team will try to fill as many holes as they can. Sparano feels the team needs linebackers, secondary players, receivers and lineman.

Heck we all know how many holes the Dolphins have...but in this statement....other than the waterboy...QB isn't mentioned...was that another slip...or was it done on purpose?

At this point...who really knows. Sparano may not have mentioned QB because he thought it was pretty obvious to everyone.

who the hell knows at this point, I don't listen to anything they say anymore lol

IMO that's 100% candid and certainly NO secret.

All the chit-chat about smokescreens etc. seems pretty lame to me. We know what our needs are, and we also know what other teams needs are. The only "mystery" is WHO are you targeting and at what place in the draft.

Other than that, most teams will consider a "high value" player who happens to fall in their lap. But more often than not, teams must address their needs with a sound strategy and good discipline.

There were no slips in the first place. It's no secret the Cowboys were going to take Beck in the 2nd rounds in last years draft if he was still there. It's no secret for what the Dolphins need. Reporters are reaching for stories b/c this group is tight lipped. They are not stupid. There was no slip up with the coach.

It is also intentional to not hurt Beck's confidence. QB is a singular position. If you say,"we need a QB", it is basically throwing Beck under the bus.

Whereas, if you then draft a QB, you can say "we are happy with what we have, but we want to create healthy competition."
