th the 12th overall selection in the 2010 NFL draft, the Miami Dolphins select . . .
Trade down.
Please!
The Dolphins go into Thursday evening's draft with every intention of finding a very good player. And that's a good thing because a team that finishes 7-9 and has more job openings than careerbuilder.com needs to snag at least one sure-fire starter with its first-round pick.
``I feel like there's going to be some really good players there,'' general manager Jeff Ireland said recently. ``Obviously, there's always options to trade down, trade up, but we feel pretty confident that there's going to be a good player [at No. 12].''
But maybe, hopefully, the Dolphins can do better than simply add one very good player with their scheduled first-rounder.
Maybe the Dolphins can entice another team or two to bid for that valuable high pick and eventually trade for it. That way the Dolphins might turn one high pick into two good players.
That would be the best possible scenario because, after making such a move, the Dolphins would still hold a first-round pick, albeit one further down in the round, and also add a second- or third-round pick to boot.
