* I think it is interesting that Jackson believes Marino does in fact join this org. I think it would be a good move for Ross, but Marino needs to be allowed some clout.

* It is scary to me the comment about Ross not needing a "Czar" because Ross wants to be able to hire the GM and HC. I TOTALLY understand it is his team. However, when he needs to bring outsiders like Carl Peterson to help him figure out who to simply interview, let alone hire, Ross is not capable of finding the right people to run his team.

Ross and Carl are good friends so he always has his ear, he doesn't 'bring him in' to help him figure out who to hire.

You are making too much out of it Hayden. Every owner has the ultimate power. If Marino comes aboard, I would rather it be in a smaller role at first. Let the guy get some some experience before handing him the reins.

if only we had mangini and fisher

We already have an excellent TE coach, no need for Mangini.

Eric Mangini is officially an NFL coach again, but the former defensive specialist is now firmly on the offensive side of the ball.

Mangini -- a former head coach of the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns -- will become the San Francisco 49ers' tight ends coach, the team announced Thursday. He joined the team in June as an offensive consultant, his approach being to help the offense from a defensive perspective.

You mean the great football mind hired by the 49ers is now only a TE coach?

That great football mind is now just going to waste.

"Hayden always makes too much of it". The Dolphins are the laughing stalk of the league. They were the just at the center of the a major investigation. There are former players…some legendary Dolphins killing the leadership of this team. They just had a GM search in which about six candidates turned down the job in some shape in form. The FO has blunder after blunder in their conduct.

I love how you guys think from the owner to the HC there are no problems with this team. I love how this team has been between 6-10 and 8-8 thru Ross' ownership yet do not demand more. Yeah, I am off my rocker for demanding that the team conducts its business better and get to a damn Wildcard game.

I will have so much fun with you all if Harbaugh is hired as the HC and Mangini comes in as the DC.

Hayden just busting your chops and you can have at us all you want if those end up being our coaches but you do take some of this stuff too seriously. It is only a game and I love my Fins as much as s anyone but there is a limit.

I find it baffling that anyone would believe that Marino could come in, be given control, and turn the team around. Is it because Elway had success doing it in Denver? John Elway was able to orchestrate that fast turn around because he was able to land Peyton Manning. Plain and simple. Lets also keep in mind that this was a playoff quality team who actually made the playoffs with TEBOW at QB  It could be argued that the rest of the FAs that came along after Manning (especially the offensive FAs) were more because the addition of the best QB in the NFL and biggest FA signing in NFL history than Elway's presence in the front office. It will be very interesting to see how John Elway handles the team once Peyton retires.

Don't get me wrong. I would love to have Marino involved with the team, perhaps his presence could be used in FA acquisitions, or as an advisor to Ross. But to give him control of the team is something that im not quite sure is in our best interest.

...unless he can somehow coerce Tom Brady to finish his career in Miami :chuckle:

Marino can have a role but as most agree not any formal power as he hasn't earned that.

I just want our team to be relevant for being successful on the field. That is all I want.

Well, we are definitely relevant right now for all the wrong reasons. Through week 15 last year.....we were relevant for what we did on the field....and we all know how that ended.

Regarding Marino, he should absolutely be part of the organization. However, he is not a GM and should not be involved like one. I see Marino as a PR guy, talent evaluator and perhaps some limited management duties until he gets his feet wet and earns a promotion. I would really like to see the same thing with Jason Taylor. He clearly wants to be part of the organization and I think he has the smarts and energy to do a good job. Plus, he is very well respected and connected throughout the league.

Linking our current Phins to some of our more successful past Phins, is a good way of engaging fans and building positive PR.

Who are you to set the "limit"? Get off your high-horse.

The only limit in life is set by yourself, but others have a limit that exceeds the norm, and that's what makes them unique. In an environment like this where no one can get hurt, I cherish Fin fans's diehardness; and their critical assessment's of this team's EVERY move.

That's why I come here.
