Best Fins Draft Picks of All Time

The Miami Dolphins selected Otis James McDuffie in the first round (25th pick overall) of the 1993 NFL Draft. His 415 career catches are fourth all-time in Dolphins history. In 1998, McDuffie caught 90 passes, leading the NFL in that category. He is the only Dolphin to achieve this feat. With the exception of Mark Clayton and Mark Duper, McDuffie caught more passes thrown by Dan Marino than any other Miami Dolphin.
 
Dan Marino. He was one of the greatest players of all time and we got him at the end of the first round and after five QBs were off the board.
 
Definately not best pick all time but damn good pick in 9th round

Jeff Cross pro bowler 1990 59.5 career sacks 2nd all time for fins to Jason taylor. It will be a long time before anybody catches the number one guy.
 
Loved OJ McDuffie. That guy was a baller.

Man how many of these guys did Ireland draft? =) Do like the R. Jones pick.
 
Dick Anderson was a sensational pick. I believe it was 3rd round 1968. We were stacked with picks that year but after Csonka none of the next three or four fully panned out. Then we hit the jackpot with Anderson. You could see how smart and aggressive he was, right from the outset. I think he had 8 interceptions as a rookie including a long touchdown return. There was also a punt return at Buffalo, perhaps his second season, when only Anderson knew the rule that the receiving team had no risk if the punt had already been touched by the kicking team but not controlled. Anderson dashed in there and grabbed the ball in heavy traffic, racing down the right sideline maybe 30 yards. Even the Dolphin announcing crew was questioning if it was a legal return.

That was the type of player we had in key spots throughout the early '70s roster -- smart and resourceful. Anderson was up man on punt returns and simply would not let the ball hit the cement Poly Turf and gallop another 25 yards. He was also the backup punter for several seasons and at least once was forced into action and didn't fare poorly.

In a run oriented era, a big hitting strong safety with a nose for the ball was incredibly valuable.
 
Great draft pick that never played a down for us Gary Fencik in the 10th round 1976. 2 pro bowls a super bowl and a gold record

He was a good pick for sure, but I reckon getting Clayton in the 8th round makes him a better value pick.
