how are you going to hire a coach's successor when said coach is still on the staff and has no plans to retire?? ok, so you say his contract won't be renewed at the end of the season. why not just fire the guy if you don't want him to be your coach?? naming a coach in waiting is a pretty stupid idea IMO.
I think it has alot to do with Stewart's comment after getting hired.
Paraphrasing: They won't have to tell me to leave, I'll know when it's time.
