Expect the Dolphins to do just about everything they can today..as the team brass tries hard to see if they can come to terms with DL LORENZO BROMELL. Bromell's agent and the Dolphins will resume talks...however there is still quite a ways to go...as the main problem right now is the fact that BROMELL is asking to paid what most teams would be paying to retain DL who are actually starting. The Dolphins see BROMELL as an important pass-rushing specialist that they would very much like to retain...particularly knowing that they have just see KENNY MIXON sign with the Vikings. There is no doubt that there is a need for a pass-rushing specialist on this current DL...and the Dolphins feel that BROMELL is still coming into his best years.
The bottom line here is that the Dolphins will not over-pay to get back BROMELL. At first...Bromell's agent was asking for more money than KENNY MIXON was asking the Dolphins for. Interestingly enough....it was the VIKINGS who had both MIXON and BROMELL in for visits last week...and they pursued MIXON much more than BROMELL. However...the Dolphins will not feel the loss of MIXON...probably not at all. Where as in BROMELL's case...his specialty is what they need...and that is his coming in on third downs...and just laying the ears back...and going after the quarterback.
Right now...there are not that many teams willing to meet BROMELL's recent demands.....we should know today how things progress in the negotiations. Like I said....expect the Dolphins to ante up for BROMELL just a little bit...but it is highly unlikely that BROMELL will be getting anywhere near what KENNY MIXON just signed for with the Vikings....the Dolphins just do not want to give BROMELL that type of contract....as they just want to pay him...like a comparable "situational DL".

Nor should they...

Bromell has had a chance to assume the starter's role, while he could still blossom...

he and his agent should be a little more realistic.

Miami can find another Bromell...I'm not sure Bromell will find as good an opportunity as Miami, especially with Mixon gone and Daryl Gardener's health possibly limiting playing time.

Don't get me wrong, it would be nice to have him back, but not at 3+ a year.

If LoBro wants starters' money, then he probably wont be here

Bromell isn't going to get starters money. You only get starters money if you can pull off 12+ sacks in a year. His price will come down when he realizes no other team is going to pay him that much. If he wants more then 2 million a year + 2.5 million signing bonus then we should look at the guy from the bengals then. I'm a fan of Bromell and think he could be 'that' good. However you don't get paid 'that' good until you are.

Lo Bro was overpaid

last year when he made 1.15 mil. We do not need another pass rusher - D Bowens is better than Lo Bro. We need a guy to replace Mix on 1st and 2nd down or replace DG at DT if he moves to DE.

I guess a DE make more sense since Daryl can be moved back - if he is moved, but we need 1 more guy here either way to replace Mixon

Yeah, I agree.

IMO..........DG at 280lbs would be ideal at def. end (ala Mixon). Reduced weight = less back strain. + he`d still be big enough to play DT in emerg. I think I posted this before. In any event I`m big on the idea. :)

You smoking the loco weed? Bowens is not as good as Bromell no way no how. How can you even say a guy like Bowens who had a grand total of 6 tackles and one sack compares to 25 tackles and 6.5 sacks?

Bowens only proved that he may be good enough to be the 2nd back up option at pass rushing DE. I really can't stand it when you guys hype up unproven players.

Have you seen Bowens on ST? The man is faster than most guys half his size, and had very little time at DE last season.

Bromell has had every chance in the world to prove he is worth keeping, but hasn't produced anything. JT was still being double teamed last year.

I agree that D BO is an interesting prospect.
But, he is just that, a prospect.
He did show lots of hustle, and seemed to have a knack for being around the ball.
Let's not get over confident on this guy yet.
I seem to recall last year lots of fans (myself included) were singing the praises of backups Hailey, and Grant.
We all found out that when pressed into action for more than just spot backup duty, they just did not get the job done.
Now, getting to Lobro.
I have always been a fan of his.
He has not reached his potential yet IMO.
I would bring him back for 1 more year and see what he can do.
With the uncertainty regarding DG moving to DE, we need to have a guy that has at least some sort of track record of prodution.
I would think that the FO will sign him to a contract featuring incentives with a managable cap hit for the year.
I would hate to lose a guy who seems to be just on the verge of coming into his own as a player.
Remember Norman Hand.

Not to mention..

D. Bowens caused a fumble, recovered a fumble, batted a pass which turned into a interception and hurried a QB into throwing an interception. I haven't missed a Fins game in six years and that kind of play speaks volumes. For the little bit of time he spent on the field, he caused a lot of damge. Now I'm not trying to hype up a unproven player but respect is due to the ones who deserve it. Bowens deserved it an that's why he's still on the roster.
