Patriots lineback Tedy Bruschi told New England Cable News today that he's 90% sure he'll play for the Patriots this year.

Bruschi said he's been working out with the team for months, and feels great. He's just visited a specialist in California, who apparently cleared him for a return to the NFL.

Patriots | Bruschi to Play in 2005?
Wed, 20 Jul 2005 06:32:27 -0700

Jerome Solomon, of the Boston Globe, reports according to a report on New England Cable News last night, New England Patriots LB Tedy Bruschi, who suffered a stroke in February, plans to play this season. They cited a source who said it would be surprising if Bruschi didn't play this season, placing the likelihood of his return at 90 percent. Team spokesman Stacey James said Bruschi hasn't told the team whether he plans to play or sit out this season. ''Tedy Bruschi will make his intention known when he is ready," James said. ''As far as I know, he hasn't discussed it with the staff as yet." Bruschi's agent, Brad Blank, said yesterday he had spoken with Bruschi in the last couple of days but the linebacker hadn't indicated he had made any decision about playing in 2005.

I don't want to hear one bit of crying, sorrow, relection on his greatness/heart...if something disasterous happens to him this year. IMO this is not a good move for him.

good for Bruschi... now we can just hope he has an off year and doesn't play that well.. but i hope he fully recovers from his stroke. my grandfather had one and i know its not fun.

So what happens when someone pops him in the chest or head and he has more problems.

I felt bad when I heard about Bruschi's health problems...if he comes back, plays football, and has more problems I won't feel bad at all. he knows he has health concerns, he is now taking a risk. Survival of the fittest.

When someone just has that burning competitive desire, they just cannot help it.

Bruschi is not trying to be some "macho" man here. He is a competitor, and that lives inside him.

While I don't think it's smart, I would still feel horrible if he has more problems because of playing football. You just cannot question the man's heart, though.

I don't think that he should play.
I wish him all the best.

I fully understand. i know he WANTS to play very badly.

But it isn't like he's not set for life. Its not like he hasn't got 3 superbowl rings, endorsments til he dies in boston, and a few spots commentating on TV.

People always talk about how sad it was that he had problems after seeing him playing with his kids on TV...

...well, thats what he's risking.

If the Dr.s say, "tedy, you can play, but there is a risk for another stroke, or more potential heart problems" and he decides to play anyway...it would be entirely his fault.

A big heart is one thing, but your heart should never get in the way of using your brain.

I would only caution us all to wait until we know the facts. Until I hear that he was/wasn't cleared to play and is/isn't going to play, I'll reserve judgment.

I'm just saying, even if he's cleared, that there is a risk...and him taking a risk at this point in his life would be silly. Maybe if he was a single guy, but the guy has a family.

I heard on ESPNradio that this story is premature anyway, and I am starting to think it was made up by some TV station...

If bruschi was gonna play, do you think Belichick would release that info at this point??

personally, the guy has nothing to prove, he should quit while he still has his health, he has fame and fortune, now he needs to worry about his family.
