I keep hearing many fans complain about the Harris pick and the general reason for complain is the assumption that he's not good against the run. Although I haven't seen any film to prove this and I think it's mostly because of his size (or lack of size) BUT.. l everyone agrees that he's one of the best pass rushers in the draft. So let's assume he'll be a great pass rusher on the NFL but not so great against the run.. isn't that why we signed the guy from the rams and resigned branch???

Those giys were signed to stop the run.. but if we don't draft Harris..whose going to get after the QB??

Harris will be on the field on obviousl passing downs on the opposite side of wake from DAY 1. Not sure if he pans out not but the idea behind the pick is solid..

its not just about the run, look at his tape. If he doesn't get past you immediately, he does nothing. He looked bad against low-tier OT's. He wont do anything against top-tier OTs. The only hope we have now is that Wake can mentor him....but even with Wake, we got whooped on the run. Harris had 9 sacks I believe this season, but they all came in a few games. He had a 5 game streak without any sacks. Against the run he lacks, he lacks in a lot of things. I just don't understand the pick when you had other more necessary players there.

Conventional thinking says that because the NFL is a passing league, you hav to stop the pass...and the way you begin do that is with a pass rush. What they don't tell you about conventional thinking is that it once said the world is flat.

A good/great QB/OC combo will exploit one trick ponies like Harris by either rarely allowing the down and distance to get into a passing situation, or putting him in uncomfortable situations...like trying to defend the run while our DE is getting punished.

Hell...Harris may even quit on us a couple of games.

The board needs a constant punching bag, factor in not getting the sexy name in Foster and the flashbacks to Jordan and the net result is the hate for the pick.

Sad because Harris will have an uphill battle to win over the fan base before he even steps foot into the facility.

Wow! I never thought of it that way.

If Harris turns out to be a good pass rusher will anyone complain? He certainly looks like he could be the best pass rusher in this class from my viewpoint. Harris has some serious skills. His spin move in unbelievable and his play speed is way better than what he showed at the combine.

Was there a perfect pick for Miami at #22? Foster may have been too risky, although I love him as a player. Watt was the player I really wanted, but he doesn't look nearly as good as Harris in terms of pass rushing.

The Dolphins had 33 sacks last year, near the bottom of the league. Cam Wake had 11 1/2 of those and he's 35. Miami badly needed a pass rusher and Harris should provide that.

There's mixed opinions all over the place. He's great ... he's good ... he's not good, etc. How about we let him play a couple of seasons and let the coaches work with him?

Short and stout enough to get under the OT the spin move could be devastating

He is way more natural than Dion Jordan

I saw some of his game breakdowns not just the highlight tapes and I didn't see what you're saying. Often times DE are tasked with outside containment so if he doesn't run up field are holds his ground if the play is going away from him that's not a bad thing. Admittedly though I didn't see any plays where teams ran directly at him so I'm not sure how he will do with that. But he he can get to the QB as most experts suggests... I really don't care.

I don't know why people assume that Harris won't improve at all as a run defender. He's got elite pass rushing skills and the rest will require minor improvements. Let him get some NFL coaching

Anyone that says he has "elite pass rushing skills" has never watched him play.

Melvin Ingram was only seen as a pass rush specialist when he was drafted too. It is possible for players to improve.

Could really not care any less for what any of you think. Harris was "our guy" and we didn't even consider trading back because He, is who we wanted all along at 22. Grier and Gaze wanted him and considering he may be the best in this draft at THEE MOST IMPORTANT DEFENSIVE SKILL one can have, is good enough for me. All you "my heart has been broken before" types, boo hoo.

The main problem with draft "experts", both on TV and here on the board, is they think they know exactly how a player will perform once they get into the NFL.

Have these people never seen an NFL draft before???

Every single year there are guys that are disappointments once they get into the league, the success rate of first round drat picks is right around 50%, same odds as a coin flip. Think about all of the time, effort and money that goes into player evaluation, and then to only come out with a 50% success rate??? In any other profession you would get fired with that type of production, but it is indicative of how tough it is to project what a college player will do in the pros.

College and pro football are the same sport, but they are very different games.

So when people say "we need to draft an imitate starter in the first round", they are either kidding themselves, or they are not familiar with history.
