Tim Beckman fired by Illinois preseason.

Randy Edsall fired by Maryland. Long time coming as Under Armour wants to invest in the program like Nike did with Oregon and they hated Edsall.

One day after being forced to take a leave of absence, Steve Sarkisian was fired by USC. Sark IMO is a solid coach, but his drinking problem became a huge issue including him being drunk during the ASU game, passing out after the Washington State game, being drunk at a booster's banquet preseason, and showing up to campus yesterday drunk.

North Texas opened up as well.

Other jobs expected to open; Purdue and Rutgers.

Maybes: Miami, Texas, South Carolina, Georgia

Hot names will include Justin Fuente, Mario Cristobal, DJ Durkin, Tom Herman, Kyle Whittingham (whose had a feud with the Utah AD for a while), and who knows who else.

Brady Hoke seems to feel he belongs as a head coach in a Power 5 conference.

    Miami?

O'Leary at UCF is stepping away at the end of the year, maybe. He wants to be the AD. He was the interim AD up till last week when he decided to step away from that. I love UCF but we are a

I'd love to see it just to see Da U fans here have the migraines we had the last 2. If he gets a power 5 job it's for a lower team that just wants to be .500.

Matt Campbell should get a lot of looks too, young coach whose doing good things at Toledo.

I don't think anyone on Beamer's current staff should count on getting the top job there.

Tracy Claeys named permanent HC for the Gophers. 2 losses so far but had the team playing hard and almost got 2 upsets. Can't complain

This is going to be the most interesting college coaching carousel in a long time. Will be interested in seeing what happens at VT. Beamer has been in Bobby Bowden-mode circa 2005-2009 for a few years now. I think they'll be really good if they hire the right guy.

A lot of rumors about people going after UF DC Collins right now which makes sense. That's someone we could afford to lose as we could simply promote Randy Shannon to that position and be done with it.

Yeah it'll be interesting, I've heard rumors about some teams sniffing at DJ Durkin too but people close to Michigan feel like Durkin will be picky about jobs similar to how Pat Narduzzi was.

The names to watch closely are Justin Fuente, Tom Herman (though I doubt he leaves Houston after one year), Matt Campbell, PJ Fleck, Matt Rhule, and Dino Babers as mid major coaches to jump to bigger schools. In terms of coordinators? That's tougher but IMO you'll hear Durkin, Collins, Kendall Briles, and Chris Ash thrown around a lot.

Something is up in East Lansing. They have had 3 commits de-commit in the last 2 days. Speculation that Dantonio may be leaving is being whispered, though mostly by Michigan fans. Some wonder if its coincidence or if their is a feeling starting to develop that Dantonio may be in play at South Carolina.

As for Jimmy, NFL teams have apparently reached out to the Harbaugh camp and the response was absolutely no freaking way.

Mizzou opening up as Gary Pinkel will retire at season's end due to health reasons.

Apparently two more kids are about to decommit as well. The short answer from what I've heard is a lot of the kids committed early and MSU has a no visit policy, so the kids decommitted to visit.

But yes there are whispers of D'Antoni going to his alma mater, there are also whispers that a lot of kids were turned off by how Sparty players and coaches acted after the Michigan game

    Rumors:

    Rich Rod to South Carolina

Larry Fedora to Va Tech or Miami

South Carolina wants Tom Herman but Herman wants Va Tech

    Maryland also wants Herman

Brady Hoke in play for UCF, Illinois or UVA.

Houston approved the new contract to try and keep Herman. Now they're gonna try and get him locked up long term.

Based on what I'm reading, as of right now Mario Cristobal is the favorite for the Miami job and Butch Davis is the fall back.

LSU is foolish. Prior to Saban they had 5 ten win seasons. Les Miles has 7. They need to look at Nebraska and rethink firing Les.

Herman has said no to South Carolina. Looks like Kirby Smart is the favorite.

    Tulane is dismissing Curtis Johnson

According to Maryland insiders the favorite for their job is Dan Mullen.

Looks like the North Texas job is between the TCU co-OCs Sonnie Cumbie and Doug Meachum and Houston OC Major Applewhite.

Get him outta the P12... He has Whittingham's #. Kyle W IMO will not go anywhere. He turned down Tennessee a few yrs ago.

It won't surprise me to see Joe Philbin return to the college ranks (as an OL coach/ passing game co-ord) in particular... Minnesota, Missouri, or even Syracuse.

p.s. I would love to see Dantonio as the phins next HC... Would Ross hire a Spartan?

Question is will Dantonio leave. Never coached in the pros and will be 60 at the beginning of next season.

And I doubt Philbin goes to the college ranks again. Reportedly he hates recruiting.

And if what you said awhile ago about Whittingham and the AD burying the hatchet, don't see him leaving unless BYU opened. I know the local rumors around here (PA) was that Whittingham reached out to Penn State before Franklin was hired.

For those that don't feel like reading, this is what 247 is saying.

Justin Fuente to VTech which will open up the Memphis job and that Memphis would then look at Mizzou DC Barry Odom (who was DC there before) or USC Interim HC Clay Helton (who was an assistant at Memphis for 9 years)

South Carolina is focusing on Kirby Smart

Miami is either Cristobal or Butch

Dan Mullen to Maryland which then opens Miss State, so Sonny Dykes to Starkesville, then Oregon OC Scott Frost replaces him at Cal.

Dino Babers to Mizzou then Wake DC Mike Elko to Bowling Green.

    Geoff Collins to UCF

Ken Niumatalolo or Willie Fritz to Iowa State then if Fritz takes that job, Penn State Co-DC Brent Pry to Georgia Southern

Illinois is a mess and will either go Bill Cubit staying or Southern Miss coach Todd Monken (who wants the job). if Monken gets it then SOuthern Miss would look at LSU RB coach Frank Wilson.

Notre Dame OC Mike Sanford to Syracuse.

If Tulane opens they look at ASU OC Mike Norvell

North Texas goes TCU OC Doug Meachum

Wash State DL coach Joe Salave'a or June Jones to Hawaii.

Didn't even bother w/ Louisiana Monroe

IF LSU opens either Tom Herman or Jimbo Fisher.

If Virginia opens they suggest Matt Rhule with PSU DC Bob Shoop taking over Temple.

If Rutgers opens they suggest PJ Fleck

so rumors are Les has already told the players he won't be coaching the bowl game. Also LSU insiders are convinced that they have Jimbo locked up.

Hawaii names Nevada OC Nick Rolovich the new HC. Rolovich was with Hawaii before and is a former player for them.

If Jimbo goes to LSU, who the heck takes over at FSU? It's got to be a recruiting stud and outstanding game day coach. I never thought I'd say it but I'd hate to lose Jimbo.

Fedora is about the only coach that I really like and I don't know if he is ready or suitable for the job.

I like Malzahn too but figure Richt would be the most likely which would not make me overly excited. Fisher said he's staying so hopefully he's not being a Saban.

I think the only thing that changed is that Fisher said no and they can't hire a sure fire winner any better than Miles. I don't know what they are thinking trying to get rid of Miles, he's a very good coach and they could do much, much worse.

RUmor has it Toledo Coach Matt Campbell is the favorite for the Iowa State job, but Toledo is willing to make Campbell the highest paid coach in the MAC.

Illinois gave Bill Cubit (their interim HC) a 2 year deal. Cubit did an okay job in the turmoil, but the fact is Illinois is such a mess that the short term deal adds stability

Aaaaaand LSU backed down. Les Miles keeps his job. How ****ing hilarious would it be if Ross hired him?

No doubt the uncertainty disturbed them, but i think it was the reaction to the "leaks" earlier this week. Those who might have been open to a change suddenly had spotlight shone on them. Guys in the building who might have been indifferent towards the entire thing had to have an opinion. Its not difficult to imagine people being shaken by things like Bobby Jindal tweeting his support for Miles.

Without the excuse of a loss, whatever forces were driving this thing decided to play it safe.

I'm glad they came to their senses, Miles is a damn good coach. If they had been dumb enough to fire him, he'd have had several offers waiting on him and $15 million of LSU's money. He was going to be fine either way but I think he played this situation like a champ. Good for him!
