Could Ryan Tannehill be headed down same road as Alex Smith?

No, the anti Tannehill fans haven' been saying the same thing for years. They've been saying:

- He is a converted WR, he'll never be any good
- All he does is get passes batted down
- He locks on his primary receiver for too long
- He immediately checks down to his option instead of staying on his primary receiver
- He'll prove he's good enough when he reaches 90 QB rating
- He can't throw the deep ball
- He certainly can't throw the deep ball and have above a 90 rating at the same time
- He is at fault for the sacks
- He can't beat NE
- He'll never lead the team to the playoffs

He was the 12th ranked passer in 2016. Why do you keep ignoring that? He wasn't "meh" in 2016 or 2014. Make your case without leaving out facts. Seems like a common tactic among the haters, along with moving the goal posts.

12th best passer based on what? QB rating? So what!?! Tyrod Taylor had a 99.5 QB rating in 2015. Alex Smith was the #1 rated QB this year! And chiefs still dumped him

The only stat that is important is zero playoff wins, zero playoff starts

He is 37-40 as a starter. In comparison mark Sanchez is 41-37 as a starter. Joe flacco is 102-67. Alex Smith is 90-67. Andy Dalton is 62-48.

Zero pro bowls, not even as a bum alternate. What's that say what others think of him?

Whether you like it or not, the QB is going to get some of the blame for going 37-40 as a starter unless you have an ESTABLISHED QB like Brees or Rivers. That's the NFL today

if he can stay healthy he will see another contract in Miami

that's really all this comes down to is health

Tannehill isn't a terrible QB and some of the statements in the article were a little rough considering the beating he has took over the years behind this crappy Oline. I am hoping this year with a decent draft and finally a TE we can rely on, that he will be even better. Tannehill is not the only problem on this team, but as the saying goes "QBs get too much of the credit and too much of the blame".

If by "he" you mean the "GM" and by "success" you mean "put together a team that doesn't suck", we can agree.
I mean just him. Tannenbaum hasn't been here throughout RTs entire tenure and no we don't need to agree. And part of the team that sucks is the QB. Unless of course like some fans you think he's really good but not good enough to overcome the fact that his team isn't elite.

The guy concluded that Alex Smith is way better than RT, I think RT is better than Smith. He will prove that on the field this coming season. BTW, being better than Smith is far from good enough to win Super Bowls. The question coming up in 2018 is do we have our QB? RT was kicking butt in Gase's system before he went down. I want to see what a continuation of that looks like. In the meantime, get a QB in round one if the guy we like is there. With RT we're not going to finish so badly. We have our chance now to snag RT's back up in a QB heavy draft, get Mayfield, Allen or whoever Gase rates the highest.

RT has made throws Smith only can dream of making. Smith certainly has better pocket presence and only recently actually looked like he could attempt and complete passes 10 yards+ downfield.

Ah, the old standby team stat..... #QBwinz (selectively applied, of course)..... the last resort when you have nothing left to criticize with the actual play of the QB.

Really good, but not good enough to overcome a team that sucks is more like it.

people confuse pocket presence for make one read and take off with it or if it's jay cutler bail at the first sign of color

Question...If QBWINZ doesn't matter, would Tannehill be a 6-10 QB this past season?

He thinks Baker or Allen will be there at 11...not going to happen.

I would like to hear some of the alternatives to Tannehill this season.

Use draft capital to trade up and grab a QB that may be good and not have enough draft capital to fill all the holes this team obviously has? (Unless you REALLY believe in Lamar Jackson or Mason Rudolph at 11)

Spend 30mil/year on Kirk Cousins? (who has the same number of playoff wins as Tannehill)

Maybe take a chance on Bridgewater's knee, even though he hasn't played a meaningful game in 32 games?
