if you listen to most analysts, they are saying that the loss of Sparano and the assistants he brought over has killed the Cowboys. Said that all 5 coaches that left were tough on the players, but everybody loved them all.

I actually remember hearing guys like Witten and Adams saying they really did not want Sparano to leave and a lot of secondary guys hated seeing Bowles leave them as well.

Wade's new staff is just too soft

One of my best friends is a big cowboys fan and once we picked Sparano up he said it was the biggest mistake the Cowboys could have made. He kept saying watch and see.... We'll I'm watching and seeing that he was right.

Hate to be the one to play devils advocate here but lets not crown him the next Shula jus yet. There have been a lot of coaches who come to a team and turn them around from horrible to average in a year. Most of those coaches are then only average for the next 2-5, and more than not get the axe in 2-3. Don't get me wrong, I love TS as much as anyone. I didn't know what we were getting but wasn't expecting much, but I was totally wrong. He has been everything I could have dreamed for.
All I am saying is in a year from now we could get a few injuries and start off 09 0-4 and 90% of the post on this board would be begging for his head on a stick.
Look around, Man-dumbarse up there for the gliders was the best hot thing, now he can't win with more talent than most of the teams in the league, the 9ers guy was all that now he is done, Del Rio was awesome and now there are rumors about his demise, herm was gonna quickly turn that mess around....nope. Just don't crown him king just yet. For every Billichek there are 20 one year wonders. There were even those who wanted Fisher gone two years ago.
Just look more at the attitude of the team than the results to decide the ability of the coach. I love the attitude of this team but lets see where it is in a year or two.

There's absolutely no question they did, but i think by securing Jason Garrett they will make up for it. Wade Phillips is a joke, and it's showing this year, he'll be gone after this disappointing season and the Garrett will take over leading the Cowboys to the Super Bowl within two years. Mark that down!

What good is a coach if he has a bonehead of a Gm such as Jerry Jones. None of those arguements make sense to me. It is my opinion that Parcells, Sparano and Ireland hold a much better relationship than Sparano would if he was a Cowboy.

It's funny how some of these coaches just keep getting recycled. Dallas with Phillips and San Diego with Norv Turner. Both of these guys are great assistants but have continually failed as head coaches. You just knew this would happen to both of these teams because it always does to teams they are the head coaches of.

    Yep,

I think both of them are fantastic coordinators who have continually showed they don't have leadership qualities and the overall management skills it takes to be a Head Coach and take good teams to the next level.

But hey, they must be great interviewees.

    :lol::lol::lol:

That must be it, because if you went by their record as a Head Coach you sure wouldn't want anything to do with them.

So I actually followed the link and read the posts and, while there were some intelligent, thoughtful posts on the subject, there also seemed to be a lot of sour grapes... My fav was when one guy said ...

"If you put the Miami Dolphins in the NFC east, they would be 2-6 right now."

Not sure I really agree but I do think that, conversly, if you put the Dallas Cowboys in the AFC west, they would probably be 2-6. :D

Bingo. You nailed it right there. No Dallas coach is going to have success until Jerry Jones stops doing dumb stuff like trading a 1st and 3rd for Roy Williams on a whim. Parcells was successful because he took Jones' GM duties. If Dallas wants any chance of making a Super Bowl run with the current roster, they need to bring in a coach/GM hybrid to relieve Jones of his GM duties. I'd bet 50 bucks that Bill Cowher ends up in Dallas next season in that exact role......

I just don't get all this enthusiasm for Garrett's potential as HC. He ran our QBs for a couple of years for kripes sake, and granted he didn't have much to work worth, although Frerrotte did okay, it barely qualifies him as an HC heir apparent. While, last year, he did call a good OC game, making the Boys the 2nd best offense statistically, obviously it wasn't good enough. This season, even before Romo went down, there was plenty of second guessing regarding his underuse of Felix Jones, misuse of Marion Barber and his playcalling in general.

Granted, he might talk an impressive game and will be able to back it up when he'll be called upon, but IMO, he's just another self-indulgent, il-conceived flier among the many having proven foolhardy, that Jerry Jones has taken. JJ is a showman gravitating towards the "pomp," like JG, while coach TS isn't what you'd term "flashy" but it's turning out he's the "circumstances."

Time will tell if Garrett can make the Cowboys forget Sparano. I'm sure they'd love to forget Phillips, who's not good enough to deserve an extension but not bad enough to fire... yet. When the Cowboys implode in a few weeks Jerry will have his mandate for the HC swap he craves. The added bonus is it kills two birds with one stone.

His dad was cool, even though I hated him at the time. The son, not so much. :)

My brain is permanently seared with memories from that Houston-Miami MNF game where Earl Campbell ran wild on us. Watching Ronnie & Ricky do the same thing to other teams is the only remedy.
