Ooh.... Smoke screen or not - this is interesting
Guess we know what sparked Mark Dominik to tweet about Shazier yesterday, sounds like he had a talk with his old bud Hickey. With two days to Draft day Shazier to Dolphins is really heating up.
God I hope he's not really in consideration for #19
Hickey and Dom have had more success drafting d players than any Phin GM in recent memory - I will trust them over anyone on this site - QB has been a struggle for them -
Yea its starting to sound like Dominik's tweet was planted on purpose. If the Fins really wanted Shazier, I doubt they would be advertising it in such a way by leaking information through someone tied to our GM.
Maybe I don't know the highest I saw him going was at 20 a pick after so not sure who were trying to fool unless we think somone will jump in front of us at 19 to get him which I think is unlikely.
We could be baiting someone to trade with us, or if another team leaps in front of us to over draft him, it pushes other players down to us. It just seems like too much a coincidence that Dominik is posting things he knows the media will pick up on right when Shazier visits Miami, like "Shazier is better than Mosley" or whatever he said. Its either really stupid of him or a contrived plot, and I'll guess the latter.
Excellent football player
better than koujanjo
Anyone got a link to some good game tape of this guy, and not a highlight reel?
Because I've to see anything that makes me think he's a 1st rnd pick, and I rather not be completely let down if I have to hear his name called when its our turn to draft.
Could be trying to bait Denver? I'm hearing Denver wants up for a LB and they've drafted LBs with that size before
Go to draft breakdown and search for Shazier for game highlights...
yep...lets hope that's exactly what it is...
Please please please let this happen
But if we know they know...
...it could be a way to meet with a player you like and create a double smokescreen.
Damn. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the phins met with either player they were targeting the last two years. Leads me to think they just want to feed the rumor.
I love Shazier, but I am very concerned of a run on quality RT's shortly after our pick. The line has to be filled with quality.
It's hard to know how Hickey runs things. I think you are correct about Jordan don't think we ever met with him last year.
Shazier would be a great get imo. I tend to agree with those saying he does have good instincts on top of the incredible athleticism. LBs do need to be faster these days too. However, it will be interesting to see how his selection would effect us getting an OT in the 2nd. Not sure the value will still be there come our pick. Probably still some real nice WR options at that point too. Will be interesting no question.

But didn't Tampa meet with like no one they drafted last year? Feels like I read that somewhere....
Not to make a white on white comparison but is he anything like kluechy?
Maybe i took you up really wrong on the white and on white bit (thinking welker compairsons here) but well
I am thinking Dennis goes line with his first pick that I would not be shocked is on Friday. I guess I am pegging James, but not crazy to see a move up if Lewan or Matthews is there at 8 or anytime after 12.
Still not officially locked in, but I do not think it is Shazier though he is a nice pick.
@sgorten: Didn't get it into story, but Shazier said of speaking with #Miami #Dolphins on Monday: "I feel like there’s a shot I might go there."
@sgorten: Shazier on #Dolphins: "They seemed interested in me and really liked my game. We’ll see how everything goes."
@sgorten: Shazier said he didn't grow up a #Dolphins fan, though, or a fan of any NFL team
Shazier is going to be the pick!!!
Hey, Shazier went to Plantation High. My alma-squater. Didn't know that. Guess that's something else to like about him. I hated that place though and totally understand why he was picked on for his alopecia now. Brutal place.
smokescreen. Shazier is a great player but not projected to play MLBB. Hickey wants mosely to fall as in shazier is better then mosely. In reality that is false. If mosely is gone then shazier may be taken if all other players are gone. This could also be part of a trade down possibility and we want to understand who will be available in trade down situation.
Woo nice website and why didn't you mention it before?
Wisconsin game showed both the good and the bad of Shazier.
Bowl game vs Clemson is probably his worst game, but to be fair, that has more to do with Clemson's offense
All videos if you want to see.
The biggest thing with Shazier is he needs consistency. Very raw player, but you cannot just brush aside his productivity.
I think Shazier is a smoke-screen enticing Denver to move up for their second -
I personally like the player but I don't think we are that serious - my gut tells me we really want that 2nd, 2nd...
he got blew up a couple times in that clemson game especially when boyd took it to the house
For the record I love Shazier. However, the more I think of this meeting is an a token interview to a nice player that has family in the org. Due dillagence and respect.
Teams rarely, if not never, meet with their true draft desires. Good news here.
i know the fins met with don jones last year. and they drafted him in the 7th. lol
Im with you Hayden... Shazier is my guy.. would love to have him on the fins...
Miami also met with Jenkins and Sturgis . 3rd and 5th picks respectively last year
It seems like a "courtesy interview" to me.
Is he really???
I read hoops column about him and to tell you the truth, I didn't like what I read.
Shazier is not a very good player. I see more wheeler in him then anything else. Good athlete, not good instincts
Believe everything you read? - Look him up yourself, productive college career, little to no resemblance to anything on our LB core
I have been trying to get as much info as I can. Thanks for the heads up bro..
according to Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network the MIA brass met with Shazier for 90 minutes on Monday - they have some designs on him or are smoking up the room for a trade to get another pick - hopefully a second
I like Shazier. People underestimate his instincts I believe. He is small...and yes that is a legitimate claim because I dont think he is going to play at 237 or whatever he weighed in at. Hes not great at shedding tacklers but I think he has strong hands and his explosiveness gets him off blocks fairly well for his size. Fact is though...the WLB (especially in our defense) is a run and chase guy. He oozes athleticism and his production backs it up. Clean character off the field. Played for a big time school.
When athleticism meets production like that...its not by accident folks.
90 Minutes people. It's not exactly a 2-day workout is it?
As people have said, it's probably a courtesy meeting in deference to his Dad, with a bit of smokescreen thrown in for good measure.
What's to elaborate he misreads plays has bad instincts also doesn't shed blocks well and due to bad instincts he will get blocked
