Not even if we had a "good" team would we be expected to go in to Houston and beat many expert's super bowl favorites. Also, take into consideration that we have a rookie QB and new systems installed on defense and offense, it doesn't look good for us in week 1. I do feel the game will be closer than anticipated but that in the end Houston will still win comfortably.

It's going to be tough, but take a look at our schedule after that. Holy crap, there's a lot of winnable games coming up. We need to take the Houston game as another pre-season game and take our lumps and get better and start the real season off the next week. If this team doesn't get down they can get on a nice run.

Now, if they look like crap in week 2 then we are in for a long season. So, just be patient and lets see where we are in week 4 before jumping off the bridge. We will grow as a team this year and if we can keep it close maybe we can finish strong and shock some people. Remember, the talking heads are morons. It's never as bad or good as they predict.

We can enter the bye with a winning schedule.

This alone would show that Philbin and company were the right hires and have made a positive difference.

If we're REALLY lucky all the manic depressed posters will be gone by then. :3w: :boohoo: :tantrum: :( :nailbiter: :mike13:

I sure hope that Joe Philbin and his staff aren't thinking this way... Don't worry about this week, next week is more important....?? With 16 games, each one is important. I suppose you'd like them to sit the veterans after the 1st quarter too ??

I completely agree. I am getting myself mentally prepared to handle a total blowout vs Houston. I am surrounding myself with lots of nerf items, and pillows so when I have to throw something out of anger, I won't harm the TV or hurt my dog. I have even considered going by the animal shelter and picking up a free cat, so I will have something to kick in case I get TOO pissed off. :hump:

But if we come back home after the beat down and get blown out again vs the sad raiders then I will probably have to check into a institute for a few days. But at least after the raiders come the first of the "can't lose" games of the season. I don't care how bad we suck, North Dade High School would have a pretty easy time vs the jets. So at the very least we will start 1-2.

I dont know how anyone can get mentally prepared for a beating lol I guess that's what the pre-season was for...0-4 woohoo! Losing should come naturally now.

I certainly recognize that we are major underdogs in this game but I think we need to play balls out and play to win. We need to take calculated chances, go downfield frequently (I am not sure to whom), and trick play a lot. The one thing we have going for us is that no one has any idea what we are going to do...everything is new and no one has any tape on anything. We definitely have the element of surprise on our side and we need to use it to our advantage tremendously in this first game. We will get to see how good our coaching staff is by how this team shows up to play. Do not believe that Miami does not have a chance to pull off the upset but pray that Houston takes us for chumps...that is when upsets happen!

Im not saying we should go in and try to lose , just that we are probably going to lose. Even if we had a good team , we were probably going to lose. So, it's going to be hard to evaluate this team on that one game. ( even if we get blown out, which I dont think is going to happen) The game against the Raiders I think will tell us a lot more about how the season will play out. So, as a fan I'm not going to worry too much about this game, but the next week will be a lot more stressful.

This team has had more losing seasons since 2003 than it had in the prior 30+ seasons. Losing is the status quo now.

LOL, right . . . they'll jump on the bandwagon as though they never said a bad word about anyone . . . and they will still hound Ireland, claiming it was an accident he drafted or found this player or that player. . . just you wait and see.

Probably not as shocked as you were when they told you it was syphilis! :sidelol:

In all seriousness (as indicated by the statment, "I certainly recognize that we are major underdogs in this game") I know that there is a far greater chance that we will lose this game by three touchdowns than there is of us winning the game. However, I will not concede that we should just go in and massage the Texan's jock because we have no chance to win. We do have some advantages and could very well win this game, although it is not likely. Don't tell me that Vegas wouldn't love it for the "Lock of the Week" to get turned on it's butt. Heck, two FCS teams beat BCS teams this past weekend and no one predicted that would happen either. Michigan could never lose to App State right? Hell, this is a lot closer than that.

Dude!! Seriously?? Football is a pretty violent game. Are you sure you want to watch?
This should really bother you....ready?............................................Bought a place in the country. The people left like thirty cats when they moved. Shot all but two for rodent control.
Now who is the bad guy? Me for shooting them. Or the a-holes who dumped them. And no I'm not about to trap twenty eight cats and then drive 150 miles round trip to the animal shelter. And thats assuming I could somehow trap all of them and only make one trip. Now I can understand you being a little squeamish about this real life tale......but a guy kidding about kicking a cat? I assume you're a vegetarian.

I heard today on the Finsider that Arian Foster had a knee problem. They said he would still play but, sounds like he's nicked up. I am going to the home opener to see our rookie QB's 1st home game. Guys if the pundits say that they are favored and will certainly win then why play the game?

Would it have made too much sense to call animal control out to your place, let them remove the cats? Pardon me if I didn't find his childish immature post amusing. Perhaps if u have seen some of the needless suffering to animals I have unfortunately had to witness, you might sing a diff tune. Every football player who steps on the field knows the risks in terms of violence, so not really sure what that has to do with anything. Its all good, you have your views, I have mine. The people I associate with don't make jokes regarding harming animals. I guess you reach a certain maturity level where its just not funny.

So you think animal control is gong to drive 150 miles and hang out for a few days to catch some cats? LOL Good luck with that. You must be a city boy. But dont worry they didnt suffer a lick. I'm a good shot. Oh and just so you know.....the horn toads, rabbits, birds, squirrels, ringtail cats and all manner of wildlife the invasive species(cats)killed all came back within a few months. I thought I would bring that up since your so concerned about animals and all. Pfffft....city boys. (shakes head in disgust)

And it was a joke. Because you choose to be more serious about the topic than others, doesn't mean you need to call out everybody on it. I've also witnessed cruelty to animals, as I'm sure most adults have, doesn't mean I'll choose to demean everyone who makes an obvious joke about it. We all make politically incorrect jokes on occasion, I'm sure you do at some point as well; take it down a notch.

I simply said joke or not I didn't find it funny. How am I " demeaning " anyone? Look above if you want to see someone baiting me. I'm getting back to football now, as its pretty clear this will just go in circles.

Just for the record, animal abusers are among the worst scum of the earth. They will get whats coming to them.
