Best choice: Left tackle Jake Long. There's not much to discuss here aside from wondering how the Dolphins would be different had they drafted Matt Ryan No. 1 in 2008 instead. But Long undoubtedly has been their best draft choice of the past five years. He's an elite blocker and protector. He has been chosen for three Pro Bowls in three seasons.

Worst choice: Quarterback Pat White. The most regrettable pick of the Bill Parcells-Jeff Ireland regime was White at 44th overall in 2009. Not even former general manager Randy Mueller's fateful 2007 draft -- two of 10 picks still on the roster -- had a dud like White, who was cut after one season and retired from baseball seven months later.

Bubble player: Defensive end Jared Odrick. Last year's first-round draft choice is in a tough spot. Odrick played one game because of a hairline leg fracture. While the rookie was out, the Dolphins' three-man defensive front was cemented. Right end Randy Starks went to the Pro Bowl, while some thought left end Kendall Langford had the better season. And don't expect Starks to return to nose tackle to make way for Odrick. The Dolphins placed their franchise tag on nose tackle Paul Soliai.

Odrick was a luxury pick if he can gather his marbles
he may give the dolphins some extra sacks something missing from anyone not named wake..

Odrick was a luxury pick at a time when we had real needs. I like him as a player, but he was absolutely the wrong pick.

so agreed . The big problem with ireland he takes luxury picks like White and Odrick when we have plenty of real needs

Odrick will be a good player, but there were other needs that the Dolphins could have, and SHOULD HAVE addressed.

yeah, if only we could get back the Odrick, Merling, White, and Turner picks back... wishful thinking, but it'd be nice.

people give up too soon on picks. patrick white yes, but odrick is no wasted pick at all. just speculating in offseason. thats all it is. something to talk about.

Jared Odrick is a *****. He should have been able to play through those injuries.

The NE bust has to sting pretty bad for them. They trade up with GB to take Chad Jackson, and GB chooses Greg Jennings with NE's pick. Ouch!

Well Im sure NE has been ok because they know how to run a football team. They have their share of misses but get the most out of thier playes

Say what you want about the Odrick pick but if this guy pans out he will be a beast. He is a former interior lineman who has the quickness of a D end and a relentless motor. I know we have Langford/Soliai/Starks but I am excited to see what Odrick can bring to the table along the Dline
