that is good that he is finally starting to do good down here
Hopefully, but maybe they're just trying to not look so bad
I highly doubt that the reason for him moving up has anything to do with "them looking bad"
He's a big target and as I said in another post here we could really use him in the red zone. I mean, we COULD be sitting at 2-1 if Penny threw that fade(?)
route to him instead of a very under sized Ted Ginn.
Just my opinion.
Agree completely, but he could still see the field being the #4 receiver. He hasnt been better than Bess at all
Maybe he is responding to be called out by Ireland. If he does not show them something he is gone.
he COULD have just have easily dropped the pass or have not been in position as well. I think if Wilford was as good in the redzone as we wish he was then he woulda been a starter day one.
That's cool, that's your thoughts. Mine are he's slow and might be a horrible route runner? I don't know. I like his size and think he could be a monster in the red zone when everyone is worried about Anthony Fasano.
Here is what one web site said about him.
Ernest Wilford is a former fourth round pick by the Jaguars who had over-achieved in his first two seasons, before taking a step back in '06. Wilford tends to have a flare for the dramatic, as he has 11 touchdowns in his young career, and he can catch the ball in traffic.
Ernest Wilford adjusts to the ball in air very well. He's not afraid of contact, and can lull defenses to sleep and make some big plays.
Wilford is slow, and has had a big problem with drops. Wilford doesn't get open quickly
Best case/Worst case scenarios:
Wilford can be a solid possession receiver in'06 as well as a nice red zone target. Worst case scenario for Wilford is that he doesn't progress at all from last season and he doesn't make the final 53-man roster.
But we all have opinions and are entitled to them for the fins sake let's hope I'm right:up:
Finally, he's showing progress. Hopefully he can take over the # 2 spot and move hagan down the depth chart
What a serious disappointment aka "Bust" Hagan has been. Coming out of Arizona State at 6' 2 over 200 lbs I had high hopes, but I've already (ya shame on me) ran out of patients with him! Hopefully I'm wrong and he turns out to be the next Nat Moore, but it's not likely.
With him and that new TE we should have plenty of red zone targets.
good sign. I hope it was just a matter of him getting familiar with the playbook.
wilford = bum. i used to watch jags games too, they didn't have a problem letting him go.
Hagan #2? I think that belongs to Camarillo.
moving up?? based on what??? his non-performance????
Camarillo is currently #2 on the depth chart. I am glad wilford is starting to show up and play for the money he was given he has NO reason to be as bad as he has.
when did he start showing up and playing??
Did I miss something??
yes, you have missed practices.
He had that one catch in the pats game for a first down on a Pennington scramble.
I think that may be the only catch he's had all season in real games?
When it comes to run blocking I'll take Wilford over Bess. For everything else I'll take Bess. Bess gets the YAC and the first downs when we need them.
From what Ive seen with Bess, I'd rather have him on the field and have him grow. Wilford will not be part of our long term plans, Bess definitely shows potential.
Fighting for the #3 spot is far from what we expected from Wilford, let's just bite the bullet already and use him as we would a 4th WR.
Hagan and Wilford are both sad disappointments
Good, we can definitely use him.
Hopefully he shows enough and is GONE!
Yes he has great size and all those things that look sooooo good on paper!!!
But he hasnt done jack squat all offseason and so far this year...heck he never did anything in Jax or really college for that matter for me to get the least bit excited about this guy.
I would rather have a young promising talent like Bess in there any day than him!!!
He will soon be a foregone conclusion to the fins.
I agree, I would rather see Wilford taking time away from Hagan than Bess. Bess deserves to be where he is on the roster moreso than Wilford and at this point has more upside
Slight derail here, but I havent heard squat about Brandon London since we signed him.
Whats the news? Anyone been at practices or hear anything about him? (I know the Giants hated letting him go, but they are so deep at WR they had no choice.)
Me too...very interested in seeing whats going on with him. I believe hes got some serious upside, would love to hear more on him since his arrival.
I'm glad to hear NOTHING!
If we were to get glowing reports of how great his development is proceeding, He'd likely be offered a contract elsewhere.
Luckily for us, that would be tampering
We signed him to the active roster, not the PS.
My bad guys, hagan isnt our number 2 receiver, Camarillo is. I just wanna see Wilford do something to take hagan's spot. And then i wanna see London do something to take away wilfords spot.
