Escalators in Jake Long's contract could factor in placing Big Jake on IR

Jake Long (shoulder) has escalators in his contract that give him "several million dollars over a period of multiple seasons" if he were to make the Pro Bowl in 2010.
This could become a big issue in the team's decision to shut the franchise tackle down, as voting doesn't end until December 20th. Likely to make the Pro Bowl roster, Long could play through the injury and earn the seven figure bonus. Beat writer Mike Berardino thinks there is a chance the Dolphins and Long come up with a monetary compromise that would allow the team to place Long on injured reserve if he struggles in Week 12.

I looked at the OT list in the AFC Pro Bowl ballot . . . I think Long makes it even if he goes on IR right now, though with that poor running game who knows lol.

He needs Togo on IR it Jang worth long term damage for the rest of this failed season. He obviously isn't 100% and won't be close till operated on.
