ESPN - James Walker Miami Dolphins 2013 Roster Projection 1.0

I think Philbin is high on Kaddu. I know many of our experts on this site dont care for him, but Philbin brought his name up as one of the players who improved the most when he named 5 players who have improved

Call me crazy but I dont EVER see thigpen lining up at WR. Guy is purely a KR/PR specialist and thats about it. I wouldn't even slot him as WR on depth chart if we could.

This.

Perhaps he'll line up at slot for ONE play per game which won't be enough to bump one of the other true WR's off the depth chart

The one thing I don't think is very realistic about Walker's roster is keeping only 3 safeties. I realize Richard Marshall played some safety with the Cardinals but he hasn't done it in Miami, not even in camp. That's too thin at that position.

As for Chad Bumphis not making the roster because "we don't need another slot receiver"...I don't buy that. On that roster, Chad Bumphis is quite literally the ONLY true slot receiver on roster. Brandon Gibson's role in the slot is an experiment, one that his coaches in St. Louis wouldn't agree with conducting. Marcus Thigpen is a return specialist. Sometimes he practices at slot receiver, sometimes at running back, but he's never getting any REAL reps on offense, so to sit here and pretend we can count on him there...I don't agree with that.

One of the few times we are in complete agreement! Two thumbs up.

Thigpen may get one play at slot every other game, and as I said that's not enough to bump off one of the real WR's. I've been a heavy Gibson supporter but on performance this off-season alone, he hasn't shown anything. If you go on last year's performance he's easily our third WR but that's not enough for me.

I'd look for several of those guys to be subject to potential waiver claim replacements.

They're losing patience with Lance Louis.
I think we may keep Yeatman over Louis just because they see some potential there. I know it leaves us with little experience behind Martin with Garner on the mend. But if he comes back, I think we would be OK. Then there is always guys we could pick up in a pinch off the waiver wire.

That's doesn't mean much. Typical coachspeak. Just because one has improved doesn't mean he is better than the person in front of him. Just means he isn't as crappy as he was last season.

I agree.....Trusnik is hot garbage at LB, he's needs to be cut quick IMHO

He'll be gone once sometime takes his STs spot. That's the only reason he is on the team, because he is very good on STs

That's a lot of time and effort to put into Yeatman to just cut him when he is on par with Garner

I'm a little concerned that there would be no one on the roster to fill Mike Wallace's role as the downfield threat if he got hurt.

Seriously it's amazing we haven't played our third preseason game and we already have a firm idea on the roster, give two or three guys. Also, there's a few I think would make the team if we weren't so deep at those positions. Like DL. Okpalaugo and Onyenekwu both look to be promising but there's no room for them. Then at DB some are saying we need 4 safeties but we may have to go with 3 because I think the bigger need is keeping 6 corners.

can see them on PS

I agree with a lot. However, I have a few differences at this point
- I got Egnew cut
- cut Louis and kept waiver pick up on the line
- kept Francis over Randall
- kept Kaddu and McCrary
- here is my bold prediction....Dimitri Patterson is cut. I think they like him, but not for a 4.6 salary cap charge. No dead money with his release. For the record, I would keep him. However, this a prediction thread so there it is.

Kelcie McCray is going to make this team and so is Will Yeatman.

That is a very bold prediction. But it could happen if Will Davis starts the last pre-season game.
