I dont see how McNutt makes this team with his ghost performances during pre-season, and case of the drops in practice. Bumphis sneaks in ahead.

    QB/RB/TE no disagreement.

FB: With Keller's injury we now need a even more athletic FB since Clay swaps to full time TE. Rodriguez sneaks in. (No disagreement)

O-Line: Don't see us carrying 10 with only 3 safteys projected. If Garner is healthy Samuda gets the chop.

    D-Line: No disagreement

LB: Sadly.....no disagreement (Spitler at back up??? Ugh...)

DB's: No disagreement, but I feel we bump up to 9 carrying a 4th safety.

    K/P/LS: No comment.

Those backup LBs are scary. I think we pick someone up from some other teams cuts.

Agree with Rojas about carrying 4 safeties but disagree with Samuda getting cut. I think he sticks.

Also wonder if they plan on trying to stash Sam Brenner on the PS. He's been one of the highest graded inside lineman on the team in the preseason. Might get snatched up by someone else.

No need for Yeatman. Not much upside there. At least when Louis gets healthy he can compete.

Also, still don't think we only keep 3 safeties. Need one more there.

I can see us getting rid of Gray, keeping Thigpen as the 4th rb.

Kyle Miller has a good shot of making it too.

I think the last few spots aren't on our roster today. V. Martin has been invisible, Yeatman wont play ahead of Garner or Thomas and Rodriguez is questionable to me. I am an Iowa fan and I even think Bumphis has outplayed McNutt. Still plenty of time for Marvin to prove he's a reliable big target.

    Here is where I disagree

Only 3 Rb's will make it. I got Gray not making it
    McNutt does not make it
Maybe Miller sticks as a TE. I have not decided yet
Louis gets cut. No way they keep a banged up vested vet on the week one roster
Will Yeatman might make it by default, but is cut after the waiver wire heats up
    Francis has value and sticks
No way just three safeties make it

---------- Post added at 11:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:28 AM ----------

Bumphis does not make it either. Does nothing on special teams and is replaceable as a slot guy. He had a nice camp and play in the league. However, it will not be his roster.

Matthews and Thigpen. I say they keep those five and stash practice squared receivers. None are separating much so they can get them thru waivers.

I'm sorry but I don't see how Vaughn Martin and Marvin McNutt make the team. IMHO Francis has outplayed Martin and is deserving of making the team. Chad Bumphus has been used as a P/R and that would seem like an indication he's made the team. Carrying 10 O-linemen might be too many. Yeatman and Louis are they guy's I think may be in jeopardy of of getting cut. Perhaps they keep 9 making Yeatman the guy at swing tackle. So my Final Roster would include Francis, Bumphus and Yeatman and losing Louis, McNutt and Martin and adding another CB or Safety to put the roster at 53.

I think a vet lb is needed after week one.
I would go with the in house cb's
A vet TE I would look for, but pickings are going to be slim

I find it interesting that Armando and Omar both have Pat Devlin being cut in their 53 man projections. The Palm Beach Post even mentioned that Devlin could be cut. Walker has him making the 53, and I agree with that.

I like Stanford as a possibility to make the team as the 9th DB. He play's special teams and knows his assignments. Kelcie McCray IMO needs another year and hopefully will sneak through waiver's and signed to the practice squad. I agree that Miami will probably be active on the waiver wire with regards to the LB position. TE will be difficult to acquire, because there are a lot of teams looking.

Nubs, I have a hypothetical question for you. I'm not saying it's going to happen, but, IF Miami were to cut Starks, What would happen to the salary cap?

    1. I don't see Thigpen playing anything EVER apart from return specialist. I wouldn't even count him on the depth chart as a WR or RB or whatever. KR/PR and that's it.

    2. Gray makes the squad, we will carry 4 RB's.

    3. As dumb as it sounds, the FO and coachs have invested too much time in Yeatman to just cut him.

    4. Devlin makes the squad unless this injury gets him IR/Cut or a better (young / cheap) back up QB become.

    5. McNutt is gone honestly. Yes, big body but has shown nothing (Roberto Wallace anyone?)

    6. Tristan Okpalaugo (DE) is a guy I would be interested in keeping but the DE position at this point is just too deep. AJ Francis is another guy (DT) I would be interesting in keeping but DT position is too deep. Honestly, I doubt either make it to the PS will get snatched by another team.

Just my rebutale (spelling?) to some of the posters opinions.

Once a player signs the franchise tag, the one-year salary becomes fully guaranteed. But there’s a little-known exception.

Under Article 10, Section 2(c) of the CBA, the contract can be terminated if the player fails “to establish or maintain his excellent physical condition.”

I think this is your answer....not happening.

FB/TE played for the Bears last year.

IMO Lane is nothing more than a run block FB and offers nothing in pass game and from what I see has shown nothing "special" apart from a few highlights of him running over Grimes last year.

Thing to keep in mind is Rodriguez has been arrested 3 times. One for alleged felony assault (dropped to mis.) and Two DUI's.

Many people will zero in on this aspect and say he is not a "Philbin" guy, but if he has lasted this long on the roster I guess they dont mind his past?

If Moore is as inconsistent as you say, why would another team want him? I do not get when fans think their guy sucks yet in the same breath say another team will take him in a trade?

If you state that Moore is a good player, then fine...someone could trade for him. I just do not get when fans think other teams will take the player of your hands you feel is garbage. Does not compute.

BTW, last time we talked about a roster projection and it got f'ed up by losing Keller. Injuries have a way of tossing a grenade into these projections. Even Jordan's injury can alter what happens up front. Shelby, Martin, Applewhite etc. have better chances with Jordan seemingly not in the mix for awhile now.

Aj Francis has a chance of beating out Vaughn Martin for a spot. Bumphis or Tyms could beat out Mcnutt.

Depth at LB is terrible. Jelani Jenkins has been too hurt to show anything. Trusnik and Spitler aren't impressive at all.

They make their money playing STs though. And they're great at it.

I would keep AJ Francis and Bumphis. Wouldn't carry a FB, but I'm having a hard time cutting someone else to make room for the other. We need to try to keep AJ Francis on the practice squad in case Starks isn't here next year. I think he could be a solid Soliai Jr. in the future. Maybe I'd get rid of Spitler after all.

Teddy Ginn would have brought so much more than Thigpen at the return slot, and also a good backup WR.

Pennies on a dollar for him, too. Bargain basement prices and coaching?

    Hmmm.

    Shoulda. Woulda. Coulda.

I agree with almost every thing you said. How can ya keep 10 OLmen out of THAT group. If you have 10 good OLman you can justify it, but there are just too many projects in that group. I will say it would not surprise me if Tyms beats out Bump for the 5th WR. I really think they are high on both of them and the next two games will decide it. I don't think they have either penciled in as of yet.

They are not cutting samuda that's just dumb...Kyle millers not making it...we carry 3 tes barring someone else's cuts or a unlikely trade...I think I would cut McCray as well of what I have seen...can probably pick him back up if need be down the road...keeping mcnutt over bumphis about as dumb as it gets...looking around the league at wr depth I think we can p squad Bryan tyms now...

Cut gillislee for a more interesting rb...there should be options...sad we have to carry all those garbage lb depth guys...

it will come down to Francis and Vaughn Martin for the last spot on the dline....they may try and hide Francis on the p squad...if not i could definitely see em cutting something else and keeping both...keep your best 53 regardless of position

After watching Ginn Jr. this pre season, I've been saying the same thing. He's looked pretty good and seems to have matured. He would be both KR/PR and a solid #5 WR on Miami's roster. He's actually made some catches in the middle of the field and had another PR for a TD. Ginn Jr. would be dangerous with Wallace on the field at the same time. Maybe Miami could trade a backup D-Lineman for him? LOL!!!

If Ginn and Wallace are on the field at the same time, Ginn is going to be ignored. Don't get all freaking wishy washy and regretful over Ginn. The guy could not catch a football to save his life. Never seen a WR that couldn't catch.

They'd sure better go out and sign someone with speed at WR, or an injury to Wallace would leave us with potentially even a worse offense than last year's, with the unproven play at QB and RB. You'd basically have Gibson, who is interchangeable with Bess for all intents and purposes, Hartline, Clay, and Miller/Thomas. With Keller now out, an injury to Wallace, with no other deep speed at WR, puts us right back to 2012, only possibly worse.

Dude don't come at me all amped up. I was F**king joking about trading for Ginn. My statement was about how he's matured and seems to be playing better. Thigpen is strictly a K/R and nothing more, who takes up a roster spot. At least Ginn can give you a bit more.
