I know the Dolphins had a mediocre game againts the Falcons, but we were facing a possible playoff/superbowl team with a great emerging QB, one of the best if not the best TE in this league who was almost invisible, an elite RB in Turner, and very solid receivers. -- They only scored 10 pts with the 1st team offense..

I like what I have seen out of B. Marshall and the potential of having a great offense in the 2nd half of the season..

We should be happy with an outcome like this and showed you the difference in talent compared to the Jags and Bucs...

    It's just a preseason game.

    Potential playoff/Super Bowl team?

It will be amazing if they even made the playoffs:

    Cowboys
    Packers
    Saints
    49ers

    Vikings are one wildcard team

Atlanta will be fighting against Giants, Eagles, Redskins, Bears, Panthers and Cardinals for that final spot.

Matt Ryan actually took a little step back from his rookie year last season, Tony G is a solid TE, but you are about 3 to 4 years late if you think he is still the best TE in the game, Turner was hurt and had an off season last year. I think they have a nice set of WR's and a decent oline, but they aren't this great team. I was more impressed with their defense if anything else and you didn't even mention them.

I expert to see the Falcon in the Playoff this coming season
only because their sch. is rank 30 in NFL ....(rams,AZ.,Seattle,TB 2X ,49ers,And Panthers 2X)

    BUT Super Bowl Team ....

I know its a little disheartening to see that we lost to a Super Bowl contender, absolutley not. Kdawd pretty much hit the nail on the head.

I thought we were looking to be a play off team too ? These are the teams we have to compete against if we want to reach that goal, we didn't compete last night.

With the weapons they have on offense, they certainly will be dangerous. Its whether there defense has improved on last year will be the question for me.

    A playoff team? Maybe

    A Superbowl contender? No

The thing is, they didn't beat us, we beat ourselves. We're our biggest opponent at this point.

The Falcons are a good playoff team, but not a SB team.

i completely expected a post that hypes the Falcons in order to make last night's game seem better. we played poorly. it happens. better now than in 2 weeks.

i dont think falcons are a playoff team. only reason there defense look ok is because we didnt prepare for this game because its a PRESEASON GAME!!! only thing you can look at in this game is individual performances on defense.

i dont know how this thread got 5 stars because its a total failure. falcons are nowhere near a super bowl team.

The Falcons seem to be one of those teams that have our number lately, like Houston does.

Bears, Panthers, Eagles, Cardinals? Uh last year those teams kinda sucked, No McNabb in Philly, Cutler? I don't know about him. Derek anderson as QB in Arizona? I think the Falcons are good enough to grab a first round bye. They may be the most balanced team in the NFC.

I'm going to assume you mean stop the pass since the Falcons were a top 10 run defense last year?

Agreed w/ your 5 NFC playoff teams. Atl or Philly will be the final WC.

Cardinals are a lock for 3rd in the NFCW behind SF & Seattle.

Bears are in for a long season; Their D has seen better days.

i think the corners are suspect but i don't think that team will stop the run when it matters...not against a power running game with some horses up front...

I don't think their corners are too bad. Dunta Robinson is pretty good and Brent Grimes had a great season last year. They have a good front 7. Curtis Lofton is a stud.

Falcons are on the same trajectory we are. Are you making the case that they're a super bowl team and we're not? If that's the case that's a pretty bitter pill to swallow.

I don't get all the drama over preseason games.. we were undefeated in the preseason last year, did that matter in any way in regards to the regular season? No. Not at all. The Colts are 0-3 right now, are they packing it in already?

Things will be completely different when our best players are getting all of the snaps and the offensive/defensive schemes are thrown out there at 100%.

ok.. Pat White is irrelevant to this topic just like he is on an NFL football field.

Falcons have had the same 3 years with a new regime taking over a talent bare team to rise from the absolute bottom. We started at the same level. If they're really better than us then we've been outdone.

in the falcons front outside of curtis lofton who else plays the run well??? jamaal anderson the backup now??? yeah...and that's all he does...koy biermann is ready to break out as a pass rusher...he's a damn good football player...john abraham is no run defender...peria jerry imo has underachieved...mike peterson is living off borrowed time...sean weatherspoon isn't a a take on and shed guy to begin with...

if the lineman can get to the second level the falcons run d is ripe for the taking....

No way will Arizona be in the NFC Wild Card hunt. Who's going to get them there? Lineart? Anderson? Pffft, not likely. Larry Fitzgearld is going wish he had gone to another team.

Really?? ... bet the farm!! vegassports-odds.com

Online sportsbooks have the Falcons +1500 longshots in Superbowl odds to win the championship, +850 to win the NFC conference and an over/under regular season win total of 9.5 (-115).

How many QB's do you know of that don't have the sophomore slump. Just like I'm pulling for Sanchez to do, from an already mediocre rookie year.

And you are basing this off a team who has had a horrible preseason until this game and I am sure that HC over there is still not sure about his teams chances when they take on super bowl champs 2 a year and a tampa team that will give them more than we realize. They are on the cusp like us. fighting for 6th spot in playoffs IMO.
