As with most teams, the first match is always filled with jitters. It was even more apparent in this matchup as it was the first appearance in the FWWC for both countries. Both played a little frantic but both had some chances early and didn't capitalize. Ecuador was able to keep pace until Cameroon began to dominate the game and finished the first half with 3 goals in the last 10 minutes and Ecuador seemed to tire. Cameroon continued to control the game in the second half and Ecuador's demise came in the 66' with a red card. After that they seemed deflated and Cameroon easily came away with the win and put in three more goals.

Cameroon looks like a team with some promise or at the least they won't be a pushover. Enganamouit is a very capable striker, as obvious by her hat trick. Although concerning Ecuador's defense... well they didn't really play defense as they failed on numerous occasions to mark players and lacked communication in many facets of their game.

So of the african nations, Cameroon impressed, Nigeria looked good, and CIV disappointed.

Im disappointed the Swiss lost to Japan. I know Lalas commented it was a clear penalty, I didnt think so. Japan looks in same shape as tgey did last time they won, but they are still weak as are otger Asian teams, Korea and China.

France disappointed today also. They have godd players but always underperform.

Im stll under Rapinoe spell a day later.

I re-watched the Sweden vs Nigeria game today with the wifey and paid more attention this time. Nigeria looked really good. They've always been a fast team but now they've developed some very nice balls skills and passing attack. Stoked they tied Sweden giving us the only 3 point lead in our group thus far.

Just sat down to watch the France vs England game now.

Mexican midfielder Veronica Perez had a wicked bending goal vs Columbia.

Very disappointing game ofr the US women against Sweeden. Created maybe 1 or 2 chances. Looks like it may need to be Wambach full time and look for set pieces and crosses..
I thought Krieger sucked, Rapinoe was off, leroux was disappointing, and the young girl Bryan was non existant.
    Julie Johnston was GREAT though

    Really need to finish better.
Holliday was good, Johnston was superb again, and Morgan looks very good.
Lloyd has definitely gone down hill, Krieger keeps giving the ball away. I HATE the short corners especially against a shaky keeper like Nigeria has

got the W..But, Wambach looks washed up..Jill Ellis is in over her head- no attack creativity forces the air ball to wambach too much..
    Julie Johnston is a beast!

Wambach is far from washed up, she just needs to convert her chances. Offensively we haven't looked like a powerhouse, even going back to the friendly's leading up to the Cup. Defensively, we're very solid. Johnston is awesome. Klingingberg and Sauerbrunn are also very very good and Solo is the best goalkeeper in the game right now.

It wasn't a pretty win, none of them really have been, and that even includes the first 3-1 match vs Australia but we advanced and that's all that matters.

    GO USA!

And the yellow card pulled for Holiday was crap. Rapinoe's yellow, well, she was late for the challenge and it is what it is. But that's two starters sitting for the game vs China on Friday night. O'Reilly should get the start. She is incredibly fast and I'll assume Morgan Brian as well.

Looked much much better tonight despite only one goal, which is somewhat comforting with Germany right around the corner.

Goal of the Day: China PR 0-1 USA, Carli Lloyd (51)

Always one for the big occasion, midfield inspiration Carli Lloyd delivered once again when it was needed with a crucial goal just after the break. Julie Johnston lofted a cross in and Lloyd powered home a towering header that would not be out of place in any coaching manual. The match-winning strike was quite a way to celebrate a 200th international appearance.

Of note: Julie Johnston is a bad ***.

    Finally some offense.
Morgan could have had a couple, needs to finish better. Johsnton was unlucky early with the header off the corner.
The ball moves a LOT better when Wambach isn't lumbering around the field and waiting for long balls in the air.
LLoyd came up big again, Johnston was awesome again (except for one mistake on a high bouncing long ball, which could have been a red card).
I thought Krieger was much better this game and rapinoe was abusing that defender all game.

I so don't follow soccer. However I saw on Facebook a picture that said something to the akin of woman's soccer is FIFA Champs. Yet the stats said they are in the finals. Which one is it?
