4.) The Guy Ricky Really Shafted Is.....
Chris Foerster. Things were already bad in Miami when Foerster was promoted from tight ends coach to offensive coordinator last May. He inherited six new starters, a QB controversy and a coach desperate to save his job. Now, without Ricky, even Foerster admits that TV cameras might catch him with a "deer-in-the-headlights look."
Foerster's best weapon is his experience dealing with change. He was the Vikings' assistant o-line coach in 1993 when Dennis Green hired a new offensive coordinator two games into the season. The Vikes still made the playoffs. And Foerster was the o-line coach in Tampa Bay when Tony Dungy changed offensive coordinators every year from 1999 to 2001. Still, Foerster's line led Warrick Dunn to his best season in 2000.
But it's how Foerster handled turmult at Tuscon's Sabino High School that inspires hope. Sabino went 0-22 in the offensive lineman's freshman and sophmore seasons. Then, the summer before his junior year, Foerster drew up a playbook for his teammates to study during vacation. That fall, Sabino made the playoffs.
