    That is pretty cool!
Did it get soaked from rain, or maybe on purpose?
Also, looks like there may be big drains near where both FG posts would go.

What are you basing this on? If you mean "as fine as last year" you are correct.

They are putting down new sod today which will last the preseason, but will get destroyed again by a concert a week before the season starts....then they're back to square one.

You apparently weren't following all the problems they had last season...especially on two-game weekends. It was really chewed up with several bare spots. Turf needs time to settle in before it has some durability, you can't just lay it down and expect it to last....

Question, is Ross going to stop hosting non football events such as concerts? Seems like getting the grass to settle would be a tough task with year round events occurring.

Yeah, I'm sure Ross plans to do as many events as possible, but there must be a more resilient grass they can use.
My grass looks a bit trampled after a party, but after a little water and a mow it comes back fine.
HRS grass should be of a much tougher, much better quality, to handle football games and everything else.

The big problem is that the new roofline doesn't allow for enough hours of sunlight...

You totally do. I went last year and had a club section seat. EXCELLENT.

Weren't they using artificial lights to grow the grass last year?

Yeah, but it didn't seem to be enough as several bare spots still had to be regularly replaced....

The simplest solution to the problem is to install field turf. That would eliminate the grass problems.

I love field turf. I have played on it and I coach on it all spring.

With that said, field turf in Miami at 1pm would be miserable. Those little black dots soak in the heat. The temperature at field level would have to be 120 or higher.

Personally, I would rather play on an uneven surface that was cool. Hot field turf literally sucks the moisture and energy out of you due to the heat.

He definitely will. Remember the counties put the thumb screws on tax dollars. He gets a tax credit per event he brings to South Florida outside the the Dolphins game. I think a Superbowl gets him $3 Mill in tax breaks. You can imagine that concerts while more a local event does not give him a big tax credit. So he has to have a lot of them.
The International Soccer Championship they just had gets him a few more tax break dollars as that brings a few additional tourists.
Short of a soccer world cup game the Superbowl will be the biggest tax break.

Goalposts are up, but you can start to see burn marks on the field. Doubt this field will hold up for the start of the season. To my knowledge they haven't used the grow lamps at all on this install.

Plus there is another concert being played on the field on Aug 28th five days before the first Canes game!

There were some major changes to the Parking Lot. Nicely done but it requires our tailgate to be moved.

The stadium entrances also have been redone nicely. Next preseason game I take some picture. I was running a little late yesterday.

They did a fine job redoing the interior area of the outside of the stadium. The road surrounding the stadium was completely redone and fences and some nice landscape was installed as well as a new sidewalk.

The sidewalk should provide better foot traffic flow to the gates as well as smoother traffic flow on the interior road for people using it since there are only designated cross-overs.

In combination with the redo of the entrance gates (good old turnstyles are gone) the stadium looks much more professional. It was well done.

Our tailgate is moving from its current location. East 22 has been moved. I checked some areas out and our best option at this point would be East 12. Once I have confirmed that with the rest for the gang I will up date the tailgate thread. It is actually easier to find now.

One word to the parking lot: the entire lot has been resurfaced and repainted. Unfortunately we still have 10x8 asphalt slots but I guess in order to provide a 10x10 the whole stadium area has to be redesigned. We'll live. :laugh

Looks like we will have a new field for the season opener. Setup for Coldplay show is underway. Weird part is they painted the endzone again today even tough the rest of the field is under sand.

Let's see if this new turf holds up any better.

Without the sunlight hitting the field you can really see all the dead spots of grass. This is what we are playing on if the game is moved up to Thursday or Friday in advance of Irma.

This is a very weird infatuation you have with the field.

I disagree, not only is it an aesthetic embarrassment, it's potentially dangerous to players...not a trivial issue.

I have the same weird infatuation with the field, as well as my own lawn.
I should probably talk to someone about it....
