[/h][h=5]The Miami Herald suggests free agent Brian Hartline would be willing to accept a three-year deal averaging $6 million annually, or "maybe less." Three years would take Hartline through his age-29 season, allowing him to reenter the free agent market at 30. It'd make sense for the player. $6 million annually is also a reasonable cost for a receiver lacking a high ceiling, but possessing a solid "floor." The Dolphins are more than capable of paying it. I like Hartline, but 4.5-5 per yr is more palatable.

I'm sure Hartline would accept a deal worth around $6 million per year. Problem is...I don't think he'll get that from Miami or should he.

I think I would come around at 3 years and 16.5 million. . . But Id prefer 3 years and 13.5 million.

    Not a penny more that 4.5 mil/yr. Can't give big money to WR's who don't score TD's.

Ideally I. Would like the Phins to get Hartline at about $5 million per season, but $6 isn't out of the question.

Rather give him a 5 year deal that's black loaded so the first 3 years average in the 4.5 ish range.

Problem is he's a 2 or 3 that was the #1 WR for the Dolphins so we're not really even sure what position rank he should be.

Haha...the dolphins should be willing to offer 3-4 million per and he should be willing to accept. He doesnt score often enough and is a 1 route pony.

with another decent receiver (Wallace or Jennings) his production should increase, hes solid and should get around that 5.5 with incentives to reach 6. This being his second year under this system we need to keep some of our people Hartline should be one.

If we can get him down to the 5-5.5 per year range you do it. It won't be disappointing to the team. If it was only three years and AROUND that amount per year it won't hurt the team.

Ireland has to play hardball with Hartline IMO because it could be really risky for him to go on the open market, he's nothing special and could find that his price is way lower than he thought. He's more valuable for the Dolphins with his knowledge of the system and comfort level with Tanny. Other teams wil certainly not rush to sign him IMO...

3 yr at 15 I'd do....it would be a bit more than I think he's worth, but not enough to let him walk. I think a contract like that would get it done.

So some people that we've never heard of are reporting something that we've already been discussing for over a month? Is news that slow right now?

How thoughtful of him. I have a hard time going over 5 per to a player who's shown such an inability to score TDs. I love Hartline but he's pricing himself out of his value to this team.

Let's look at some comparable WR's: Lance Moore - almost same amt of yards but caught 6TD's, not 1, earns 4 million per year. Steve Johnson - same amt of yards and 6TD's, earns 4.3 million. Etc. Etc.
So why on earth would we pay a guy who finally stays heathy for 1 year, gets 1000 yds, but only catches 1TD, 6million a year???? How about take 4 or hit the highway. While it would be nice to keep him, he's got to be reasonable or he can hit the road. He can be replaced and obviously at a reasonable rate.

6 million a year for Hartline? I'd rather just cut him and Long, and sign Wallace.

    1. go back and look at the games from this past season and count how many times brian hartline had the endzone and either tanny diddnt see him or over/under thrw it.

    its a LOT!

    2. put tom brady in and see hartline get 9 to 12 td's a year.

    3. put another speed burner/legit wr next to him and see him go to the pro bowl. he has been CONSTANTLY double teamed.

i have no problem with the 6 mill as he is VASTLY underrated and if tanny can improve and we can get a real deal wr on the other side of BH, he will be MORE than worth it.

    really? how so?

bess has shown EVERY TIME they give him a starting shot he fails. he is a GREAT slot guy but that is all. hartline on the other hand has shown he is a real good starting wr and that is much more needed than a one horse slot guy.

if tanny can improve this year and we get a pro bowl caliber or legit, speedy take it to the house wr on the other side, bh will be a probowler.

Oh, so now Hartline's lack of scoring is somehow RT's fault? lol!

The QB that threw Hartline open to zero separation windows all year long? The same QB that enabled Hartline to gain more yards than ever before? Yeah, right.

4-5mill range and you get him signed. Go get Jennings and put him on the other side with Bess in the slot. Draft CP with the 12th pick. Use Matthews in 4 receiver sets and your weakest position just became your strongest position.

really it is , because why give Hartline 6 mil when we can add say 2 mil more to that and get Jennings for around 8 mil and thats about what i would sign Jennings / 3 years , so with that said if Hartline dont take say 4.5 nomore than 5 mil a year than i say lets roll with Jennings.

Hartline was pretty durable last year...he played his *** off....pay him what the average 3 gets...and now go get Jennings and another good rookie speed guy ...Hartline, Jenkins, Bess, rookie Marques Goodwin (texas)
