How will the Coaching Job in Penn State effect the Dolphins Coaching Search?

With Paterno now Fired, how will this effect the Dolphins search for a Head Coach during the offseason.

We've seen it quite a few times in recent years, coaches turning down Professional contracts to stay/go back to college.

Is there any chance that we may see some potential Dolphins coaches turn us down to coach in Penn State? As much as I hate to say it, PSU has a storied history of being a top football school and might be appealing to potential coaches.

I'm just interested in other peoples opinions.

Penn State wont get a top notch coach. I suspect Bradley's interim tag will be lengthened to include next season much like Ohio State is doing with Luke Fickell

Recruiting is going to be hard for them next year. What coach that wants to win and make a splash wants to go to a school where you can't get top recruits because they are going to go elsewhere and have to follow Joe Paterno?

Penn State already has a head coach in Tom Bradley. Right now he is the interim head coach, but he's going to get the full tmie job at the end of the season no doubt. He's been the heir apparent for a decade waiting for Paterno to retire.

    Cause: JoePa overlooks child raping
Effect: JoePa fired from PSU and announced as "BIG NAME" Miami Dolphins head coach!

    *DISCLAIMER: JOKE.

If Sparano wants to rebuild that mess, go ahead. Penn State has alot more than its reputation to rebuild. They need a whole new offense.

No chance at all. There will be a complete sweep of the staff once the season ends. Bradley has been the name for years, but even before this whole Sandusky deal, the idea of him taking over has diminished. Now that this has happened, I don't see any assistant surviving. I mean if you can fire Joe for no legal wrong doings with minimal facts as the board admitted last night, how can you keep the same staff in place? You can't and you won't. What is disturbing is how Paterno can be fired yet Mike McQueary still has his job as of this morning. McQueary is the one that actually witnessed this violent act, but the college football legend goes down because that is a better story for the morning paper.

I do not see how this is going to have any impact on the Dolphins coaching search. Urban Meyer is obviously going to be the big name connected to Penn State, especially now that his one daughter is reportedly transfering to Penn State to finish out her volleyball career. Really, if Miami is going to be impacted by the Penn State coaching search, it will be the Hurricanes, not the Dolphins. If Al Golden gets the call from Penn State, he will be on the first plane to State College. Don't worry about any buyout clauses, Penn State will easily pay that.

Screw being fired, McQueary should be arrested. The only reason I can think of that neither have taken place is that he was threatened with being fired or worse, not that that is an excuse for witnessing something like that and simply telling a head coach, a person with every reason to make sure it doesn't see the light of day.

Ped St's not affecting any Miami coaching situation.

Yeah, McQueary's continued employment is insane. I don't know how the man even lives in this county after what he did. He should be in prison. If those morons rioting had any sense they'd be turning their attention to making sure the McQuearys face justice. Though I will say their crazy, cult devotion to JoePa and subservience to the football structure gives a window into what McQueary's sick, impotent mind must have been thinking at the time.

Most likely McQuery has been offered immunity in exchange for what he knows. It's funny that those below and above Paterno are being charged or granted immunity yet Paterno is getting a free pass from the PA Grand Jury. I would like to see the PA law on reporting child abuse which should require any school official to report it. No way that McQ and Paterno were the only ones on that staff that were aware of the situation.

The only effect it may have is even an inept organization like the phins will make extra sure when they hire coaches that they dont like to rape kids.

You know, I can't help but have a smile on my face that this is happening to Joe Paterno. This is a guy who once said that he couldn't retire and leave college football in the hands of coaches like Jackie Sherrill, who was at Pittsburgh.

nothing. College coaches should be the least of our focus right now. If pro guys want to go down there, so be it.

I keep hearing Meyer for Penn State, and he should not even be close to a candidate for us.

Sorry my friend but no one would touch that program with a 10 ft pole until all the facts come out.
The allegations there make Miami players visit to a strip club seem like good clean fun. Better hope you have a good coach already on staff because recuiting is going to be a tough sale for coaches or players.

No effect at all.. the issues we have is nothing compared to the **** Penn State is going through. Ross can do what he did with Harbaugh ten more times and we'll still be a more attractive team.

He definitely knew. He took some action, but it really wasn't enough. He should have made sure that old Perv was put in jail for a long time.

The first few sentences, Im not sure how you can keep typing them with a straight face. Legally, youre right, Paterno did nothing wrong. But there is no doubt he did something that was VERY morally wrong. And the facts for that are not minimal. There is a grand jury deposition and lots of testimony and common sense that clearly suggests Paterno did the bare minimum to put a stop to a man who he knew was anally raping young boys in the PSU complex. And thats just what we know so far. Are you denying this?

As far a McQueary, I totally agree. He should have gotten the axe with the quickness. He sat and let a known child rapist roam campus and didnt alert anyone because he wanted to keep his job and be promoted. Sickening. But then again, JoePa was doing the exact same thing. You are here screaming until youre blue in the face how JoePa got the shaft and how he deserved nothing...then you type that McQueary needs to go. Whats good for the goose is good for the gander. JoePa sat every day and watched a man he knew was a child rapist come and use the same facilities he knew this rapist had molested young boys in. And he KNEW the AD was not pursuing it. For ten years. And he did NOTHING. Seriously...he just sat there and twiddled his thumbs while kids were getting raped. JoePa's hands are filthy. I really can't see another way to interpret this...you have to be a total Penn State homer to even begin to wrap your head around JoePa being innocent here. Yea, in the eyes of the law he did the bare minimum to keep himself from going to jail, but is that REALLY enough when we are talking about arguably the sickest crime that can be committed going unstopped? Get real man.

There were at least 8 more victims of Sandusky after Paterno was told of how Sandusky sodomized a child in the shower. Paterno willingly turned a blind eye to a predator who violated numerous boys. If Paterno would of went to the authorities many children wouldn't of had to go through that horrible ordeal. He had a moral obligation and he failed at it. He allowed a cover up of the raping of children.

it dosnt say anywhere that paterno knew there was anal raping he was told by mccueary something like horseplay was going on in the shower and i did read the entire grand jury report and yes paterno could have moraly followed up but he went to his superior and that was what he thought was right at the time. mccqueary had more of an oppertunity to intervene than did paterno yet he is still coaching and is not under the radar like joe is. hindsight is 20/20 for everyone involved and it is easy for everyone to say what they wiuld have done now but unless you are put in that situation you really dont know how you would react.

And LOL at Penn State getting a marquee coach. You have no president, no VP, no AD, your entire staff is about to get wiped out, there is a huge scandal looming overhead that will affect recruiting for years and the school is facing hundreds of millions of dollars in lawsuits. Im sure Meyer or Golden cant wait to jump into that.
