THIS IS PURELY FOR FUN! Please treat it as such.

So with the talk that Andre Johnson isn't too happy in Houston and he doesn't seem to know where he fits in with the new regime, wouldn't it awesome if we could some how get him? The way I figure it he would be a an upgrade over Mike Wallace. So what if there was a way to dump Wallace and sign Johnson. Would it be an upgrade?

Again, please have fun with this. This is meant for off season discussion.

Not that Wallace is great or anything, but I get the feeling that Andre only has a couple years left, and those may not be as a top shelf WR. He's always hurt.

I thought about tossing this idea out thEre. Andre is superior in every way just older which makes the trade more even. Gotta feel bad for him they didn't make any effort to get him a QB

Who's going to pay the $10 million just to trade him?

This would have to come in the form of a trade and Wallace makes more money this year (not a lot more) than Johnson. Miami cannot just cut bait from Wallace until really after the 3rd year. This year Mike's contract makes him nearly impossible to move anyway unless it is a trade. It a little easier to swallow next season but by year 4, Wallace can be cut, traded etc...will little ill to the cap.

I wouldn't trade for Andre Johnson even Wallace in his capacity of last year offers more to Miami at this point than Andre would, age being a huge factor.

I think Mike Wallace does a lot more for our offense than Andre would, and is capable of producing a lot more too....

Sorry but no. Don't be a Wallace homer cuz he's a dolphin. Andre gets 1400 yards while double teamed. He would open up everything else. Is Wallace double teamed? Sometimes cuz teams get scared of his speed. I would just single cover him and get physical at the line he has no strength

I see it like this: Johnson's best years are in the rear view mirror, and just don't view him as an upper echelon WR anymore. Not even close actually. He'll be 33 in July, and has never really had a nose for the endzone (averages close to 5.5 per season). Wallace, while not great by any stretch to begin with, offers more for the next few years at least. He's never had injury concerns (missed 1 game in 5 seasons)...and being 5 years younger certainly helps.

At his age, Andre Johnson might be worth a 3rd RD pick to a team like Seattle or San Fran. But for a team that isn't ready to compete for a SB, he's just about worthless - again, because of his age.

I'm scared to death that one of the other wildcard teams in our conference will get him like the Chiefs or Ravens, and ****ing Newsome is probably already whispering sweet nothings to get him for a 4th round pick or something.

He's make a lot of sense for New England or Denver. KC might do it, but that team isn't that close. I have similar feelings about Baltimore, but they have a puncher's chance in the AFC. His price tag will have a lot to do with who (if anyone) trades for him. I don't see any of the top teams giving up too much, but if you get to that 4th RD range, that'd make sense.

i agree age is a concern, and there's no way to know when the decline will start. the past two season sure aren't an indicator of declining skills though.

This is true, he put up two really good back to back years (except for TD's, but that is his norm). He also had some really poor QB play last year which didn't help him out. I just feel his best days are behind him and at 33 it not that big a stretch. I hope Wallace's best years are ahead of him but I'm not holding my breath.

No chance it's going to happen, but I certainly wouldn't call him worthless for us. Giving Tannehill a top veteran WR? It would be worth it for Tannehill's development alone versus waiting for Wallace's light to come on (if it ever will). But, doesn't matter, because it's about a 0.000009% chance.

Yeah Johnson is older, but he has still been much more productive than Wallace each the last two years, and you can get out from under his contract after 2015 whereas you are probably waiting until after 2016 to get out from under Wallace's contract. Cut Wallace after 2015 and it's a $4.4 million dollar hit. Johnson would be $2.8 million.

Nah. He's not the same Andre he used to be. And for all scrutiny for lack of td's,
Johnson has never had double digit touchdowns in a season I believe

A player at 32 versus one who is entering his prime? I will take the WR who is entering his prime and has the ability to stretch a defense.

Well past his prime, he's a much better WR than Wallace could ever be, but Wallace has time on his side. That said, I'm not against upgrading Wallace but that will be difficult the next two years due to contract stuff

I'm not sure people really comprehend the impact Mike Wallace has on our offense. He can have a game in which he catches 0 balls, yet still greatly benefits our offense by opening up the field for the other receivers and the running backs. It was his first year in a new system with a completely inept offensive coordinator. Now before someone tells me that he's going to be in a new system again this year, I know, however the assumption is that Bill Lazor isn't as incompetent as Sherman. At this point, I wouldn't want to swap Mike Wallace for Andre Johnson at all, no way. I expect Wallace to have a bounce back year with this new offense, as he'll be moved around to create mismatches, something Sherman didn't do at all last year in his prehistoric offense. I know OP isn't calling for Wallace's head or even hating on him, but a lot of people need to ease up on the Mike Wallace hatred until he can prove himself this year.

So today I'v read NE is going to trade for Andre Johnson, Josh Gordon and Justin Blackmon. This could cause some problems for Miami.

The guy has been in the league long enough and gets paid enough to warrant scrutiny at this point. He's getting the kind of pass usually reserved for rookies. I keep reading how he opens up the offense, and yet the running game regressed and the passing game produced an extra 20 yards per game. Color me unimpressed.

I hope he finally rises to his potential this year, because I know he has a ton of it, but that doesn't change the fact that as of now, we have a vastly overpaid underachiever that we are putting all our hopes on.
