Jonas Gray is really running with power and is making a strong case for being the team's goal line RB. With 2 TDs already in this game, do you think he can beat out Daniel Thomas, assuming Mike Gillislee makes the team too?

D. Thomas did not play as bad as you guys are saying. Also he did it against the Jags, pretty good, #1 D-line.

Jonas Gray is a good short yardage guy but he looks really slow and sluggish. Watching him run reminds you of a fullback who runs a 4.9 in the 40

I think we need to keep Daniel Thomas in case Miller gets injured. He simply isnt as bad a player as some on FH make him out to be.

Besides, the other guys seem like specialists so far. I like what I have seen from Gray, but Id like to see what he can do with the 1st units out there. He could certainly be a nice short yardage back. Hell, I wouldnt count him out as a regular back. I think top speed can be a bit overrated. If he can get tough yards and make the chunk gains of 7 and 8 yards when it opens up that is fine. Id like to keep him.

Gillislee at a minimum is a great blocker out of the backfield. He is a must keep for 3rd down passing situations when we want some security back there. He could also develop into a nice all around back.

Id keep Miller as the primary guy. Keep Gillislee as the blocking back. Gray for short yardage and perhaps even a 4th qtr HAMMER. But, I would also keep Thomas as security in case Miller gets injured. If we dont have Thomas Im not certain the other two guys could fill the role of featured back just yet. Thomas could do it. He wouldnt be the best in the world, but he has proven he can play in the NFL.

Agreed about Thomas.

He has the body type where he can line up as a FB, as well as a HB. He's the best short yardage back we have.

I've seen a lot that has impressed me from Gray (a big improvement from last week where he stutter stepped at the line and got nothing on half his runs) and absolutely nothing has impressed me about Gillislee.

The sad thing is with players dropping around the league like flies you have to be careful thinking you can stash a player like Gray on the practice squad.

If you mean tonight, I agree. If I had to make a choice based on the first half of this game alone, I'd go with Thomas. DefensiveEnd76 nailed it perfectly when he described Gray as slow and sluggish. And nothing about Gilleslee stood out, either. I didn't watch the second half, though.

i think miller, thomas and gillislee make the 53 at halfback. the winner of the lane/rodriguez competition at fullback. marcus thigpen makes the team as hb/wr/pr/kr. gray makes the practice squad or just cut.
