Thanks for passing that along bro. I'm glad that Fiedler looks better than ever. How can any player looking "better than ever" ever be considered a bad thing??
Still, once things get settled down for A.J. and he gets comfy, I believe he'll be an upgrade to Jay. It might not happen before September, or before November, or even this year. But I believe it will happen sometime. And we will be glad for it.
I talked to a new friend of mine today who is a RABID yet objective Eagles fan (ironically his best friend is a huge Dolphins fan). I know, I know. We've all heard that one before. But it was the first time I've been able to talk to a rabid Eagles fan since we got A.J. And I was asking about A.J. Feeley
before I revealed I was a Dolphins fan. So I thought I'd share. :)
Anyway, I asked him what he thought of A.J. He was like, "Dude, I love that guy. Strong arm. He is so cool under pressure." He was like (rhetorically), "Why did we trade him?? And why the hell was he behind Koy Detmer?? We should have gotten rid of Detmer instead. Detmer sucks!!"
He said that when Donovan went down in the playoffs this past year vs Carolina, they were screaming for Feeley. And when I asked him how he felt about people calling for Feeley to stay in when McNabb got healthy for the '02 playoffs, he was like, "Hell yeah man. He was hot. Led us to 5-1 down the stretch and a missed FG away from 6-0. For a young guy like him to come in like that.....etc etc". What I found interesting was that he mentioned how Eagles fans had a very high level of confidence in Feeley while he was running the ship. And I liked hearing, "He's not gonna make a lot of plays with his feet like McNabb. Nobody does. But he's so good in the pocket." He also complimented A.J. on his deep accuracy.
Anyway, I'm rambling. But I just thought it was cool talking to an Eagles fan in person about Feeley without him knowing I was a Dolfan. So I felt like I got an honest opinion without him feeling obligated to build A.J. up. Then once I told him who I rooted for, he started jabbing me.
