USC running back and Mission Viejo High graduate
Tre Madden tore a ligament in his left knee during Thursday’s practice and will miss the 2012 season,
the school reported on its website.
Madden, who recently moved from linebacker to tailback, went down when he planted his left foot and tried to make a cut. There was no contact with another player.
Madden had to be helped off the field, unable to put weight on his left leg.
After graduating from Mission Viejo in 2010, Madden played as a true freshman in every game for the Trojans last season. He saw time at linebacker and on special teams.
