Watching it now and they said a live update in a couple minutes.
with the culpepper press conference happening today, the same day as Ricky's appeal, im guessing that were going to get bad news on Ricky. Nice media move on the dolphins part to shift the focus.
I doubt we know anything about Ricky till the end of the week.
Or right before the end of this month
It's been twenty minutes, has anyone said anything?
Cold Pizza is at the courthouse in NY where the trial is being held. They said the same things we've known from the beginning. Ricky has a chance to win because it's not the same substance and he could lose because this is his fourth failed test.
They reported if you were going to have to go to trial in a case involving a pro football player and a failed drug test you would want the lawyer Ricky has because he basically started the drug testing polices for the NFL. They also said the decision could take a few months and the Dolphins and Ricky really want a decision sooner rather then later because both need to know where they stand before the draft. After hearing that, I'd say we are two weeks from a decision, IMO.
why so late? im sure they'll say it today n find out
They also said that the substance was an amphetamine...
Why would it take that long to find out what happens? This isn't a murder trial or corporate fruad trial.
You would think it would be that simple, but the NFL should be labled the drama queen organization of the world because they love to drag things out to get the max press they can suck out of a story. Look at the BS at the CBA...drama, drama, drama!!!!!
the hearing is today.....but following that, they can take their time in coming to a decision.....it's not people are saying that they'll decide today, but just not tell anyone. It's that they are going to take some time to review all the info presented today and will make their decision in 1-2 weeks.
per front page of Finheaven.
this to me tells me it'll take a week or two.
they will most likely have to test what he took, and determine his punishment. if any.
It's called "due process"... I take it you have not been invloved in any legal proceedings lately... anything that has to do with the legal process takes an excrutiating amount of time to come to the correct conclusion.
The final word comes from Tagliabue, who I imagine isnt even at this hearing. So the league will do the whole consult, debate thing, and that is going to depend on the time and availabilty of all the league officials involved.
In other words, it could be anytime, and the people responsible for scheduling Tags et al's workload arent going to promise a deadline
Yep absolutely! I swear at law school they must teach these people on how to draw out a phone call for as long as possible to make the most money. Oh and dont get me started on the legal letter exchange back and forth game that goes on for months.
Quick someone tell them to use johnny cochran's Wookie defence....Reference Chefs trial on South park if necessary
Yeah i think that sounds about right. Nice sig by the way that's one of my favorite movies.
Ricky on uppers? I think he'll get out of it.
Jason Cole is commenting on Ricky situation on 790 now.
So he smoked pot laced with crank?
Anything positive yet? (Although I don't believe that we will hear anything definitive until a few more weeks.)
a week or two is my guess (before the draft). personally i think he's going to get off. as far as the amphetamine thing goes, there are tons of legal and illegal substances that have amphetamines in them. i'm very curious as to the exact chemical that triggered the positive test.
cmon man are u kidding?????? this aint PR move.....Ricky will be fine.....only coincidence.....and I kinda like it being that its been quiet in the Fins front for some time
Its over now.
The Hearing was moved to an undisclosed location. We wont know anything for a couple of weeks. He doesnt think its likely that Ricky will get off scott free because of the precedent it sets.
Dolphins should be planning to get a replacement though FA or the draft.
He doesnt think Ricky will retire even if he is supended for a year because of his financial obligations.
.... conspiracy theory?
It sucks that Ricky failed a fourth test and I wish it hadn't happened...but since it did happen, I think it came at a good time.....the final decision will be on Tagliabue and with him getting ready to retire hopefully he will rule in favor of Ricky...Tags is on his way out, he might not really be focused that much on it and just allow Ricky to play.....well at least that is what I am hoping...
I dont like the sound of that at all.
Hopefully Ricky can explain whatever it is that he has been consuming and it will not be something on the banned list. It doesn't sound like Ricky is using drugs again if you believe his mom and Saban. Hopefully they will have a decision soon and no later than the draft which is less than three weeks away.
You can be sure that the Phins are already making contingency plans for this possibility... I'm also sure that they have their collective fingers on the pulse of these procedings.
Anyone else have a problem with setting precedence in confidential proceedings. Jason Cole's entire rationale for likely there being at least some punishment comes from not wanting to set precedence??? Seriously, anyone else thinking wtf? For precedence they should fine the Denver Broncos change the entire staff at the drug testing examiners office or whathaveyou. Just seems a stupid rationale to guarantee some punishment.
i also think this. the trail is in front of a comity right. They talk for a little while and make a dicission.
I think that it is interesting that the alleged substance was an amphetimine. I know there are several anitdepressants/AAD drugs that have amphetimine components. In light of Ricky's prior mental health issues, I wonder if this could be a possibility?
Rank, borderline irresponsible speculation on my part
People need to relax. This panel or judge is going to decide whether a guy who failed his fourth drug test should be suspended from his profession for a whole year. Don't you think a decision like that warrants some time? If this board made their decision haphazardly and immediately, it wouldn't be good for Ricky at all. They have to take the time and weigh all the evidence if it's going to be favorable for Ricky.
Merged: 10 Or 15% Chance Miami Signs Arrington/Jason Cole on Hotlist/Cole Credible?
Ddn't catch all of it but he is doubtfull about Ricky situiation and Lavar is a 10 to 15% chance of signing with us because we don't have a history of overpaying FAs.
Detroit still wants a 4th and the dolphins may only be willing to give a 7th or a 6th next year.
I know this is recapping most of the stuff we already know.:dolphins:
10 Or 15% Chance Miami Signs Arrington/Jason Cole on Hotlist
That's what the local Miami Herald sports writer on ESPN just said in regards to Miami ending up with OLB L. Arrington.....
Wow, that low huh? I wonder who will offer him a contract as good or better then ours?
yes, posted it a few minutes ago
I think he will end up a Giant then!
