Merged 3X: Effect of Marlins Winning W. Series / Better hope the Marlins win / etc...

Even if the marlins didnt make the world series, the infield will be there next weekend.. so might as well suck it up and root for them fishies...

Although I hate baseball, and could care less who wins, I would never root for a team to lose in baseball just to benefit our field.

I thought because the AL won the All Star game that the World series would be at their field?! So wont the WOrld Series be played in Yankee stadium (or whatever stadium the Red Sox play in)?

They were playing for home field advantage. Meaning whoever won the all-star game would get 4 games at home out of 7.

Who cares about the infield. GO MARLINS!!!...let the curse of the goat live on!!!:pirate:

Yes. The World Series is set up in the 2-3-2 format in terms of sites. The games go Sat-Sun, Tue-Wed-Thur, Sat-Sun, so the Marlins would have home games in the middle of the week. The conflict arose in 1997 because Florida had homefield, causing that game against the Bears to be moved to Monday night. And since the next home game (after New England) isn't until November, there will be all-grass for that one (against Indy, I believe).

Better hope the Marlins win tonight (yes, I said "win").

If they lose, then they'll tear up the in-field and plant grass on Thursday. And, trust me, that''ll be worse than the in-field because the grass will NOT take root by Sunday and THAT, my friends, is a recipe for disaster (major injury).

The injury bug hasn't really hit us that bad so far this year. And this in-field/grass sh** concerns me.

Sorry to seem so gloomy about it, but it is a legitimate concern.

Can't root against the best team in Miami!!!!!!! Like 81 said, putting the grass in tomorrow won't help us Sunday. It's pretty dangerous. Actually, I wouldn't be suprised if they held off till after the game if the Marlins win.

Well, folks, I hope the Cubs can help speed up the dirt-infield-removal tonight. :gulp:

Yeah I read it somewhere (officially) that the grass would not be in place till the Nov 2. game.... no if's and's or but's

The stupid Cubs fan that cost them that crucial out might never be able to go to a game again.

After that play, they kept cutting back to him and he was constantly drenched in beer.He had to be escorted out by security after the game.

Imagine if that p!ssed off mob found him in the parking lot...

Also imagine the abuse he is taking at work today...
