Jokes aside, its a good move. Get w/e input there is to get. Thats all it is. You think Seattle needs the help? As per my philosophy when it comes to family dinners, always have an over abundance rather than just enough. You never know who may drop by.

The Super Bowl champions hired him to help with their draft. Interesting.

Coming right after the news of Scott Mcloughlan resigning? Is Ireland suppose to help replace for Scott did?

Maybe they believe that they know a bit more than the forum? Nah, could never happen. There must be another reason.

Ireland wasn't good, but he wasn't completely awful either.

Some of the picks he made are impressive while some of them are awful.

Could be a good hire. When they are getting ready to call their 2nd and 3rd round picks, they should ask Jeff what he thinks. If he likes them, quickly pull another card.

Maybe they got tired of having draft picks contribute right away? Maybe they felt they needed more players on the defensive line? Maybe they decided they weren't mediocre enough? Maybe the thought their front office was too functional? Who know what they were thinking. Good teams aren't immune to bad decisions.

In this case, "the forum" was absolutely right. Ireland was a **** GM. Maybe not the bloody diarrhea that was Spielman, but **** nonetheless.

Mr. Ireland who in the 2nd round should we go after?

Ireland: "Well, I really like this player, If i was GM i'd trade up for him"

Thank you sir, we are now taking this guy off our board.

They hired him to be a "scouting consultant", not a GM. It would be like saying the Raiders knew something the forum didn't when they hired Sparano to be an offensive line coach.

Well, no. Because offensive line coach =/= head coach.

Same as scouting consultant =/= general manager.

But I guess there are people still pining for Jeffery. I suppose there were people who wanted Rick Spielman to stick around too and made these kinds of posts when the Vikings actually hired him to be their GM.

For all of Ireland's faults as a GM, he has always had a good track record of finding guys who could contribute in the later rounds and in UDFA... even here (then again so do the Seahawks). It's a useful skill to have, and as long as he's not in charge or interviewing the players he should be ok

this isn't a bad move at all. He sucked as a GM there is no doubt, but he was regarded as one of the best scouts in the NFL with the Cowboys. Atlanta hired former GM's Billy Devaney, and Scott Pioli this offseason. Again, he was a bad GM, but he was one of the best in the league in rounds 4-7 during his tenure in Miami. Seattle also has a proficiency with that as well. I think this is a solid move.

John Schneider knows what the hell he is doing... TRUST ME.. he only built a super bowl team in 4 years..

Yeah, they just won a SB, have a ton of young talent, and will be $50M under next year's cap. I would LOVE to be that crazy for just one year.

Actually, I bet Ireland has learned a lot from his mistakes, and can help course Schneider away from some of the ill-advised decisions he made himself. It's never bad when you add a former GM to your front office. Just because he failed as a head man doesn't mean he doesn't have value in a front office. Just because some coordinators fail as head coaches, does that mean they still can't be good coordinators? Absolutely not.

funny how Ireland couldn't find talent for Miami, but all of a sudden, he's great at finding talent. seahawks will start to reach the bottom of their division, if they take Irelands consults seriously. I give him a couple of years.
