Matchup Dolphins should exploit: The Browns' passing game. Cleveland (4-7) limps into South Florida with its promising rookie quarterback Colt McCoy nursing a high ankle sprain and receiver (and All-Pro return man) Joshua Cribbs trying to come back from four dislocated toes sustained Nov. 14. All good news for a Dolphins' defense that continues its ascent up the NFL rankings, moving to sixth entering Week 13 (fourth in passing, 14th in running). The unit has made its hay against quarterbacks such as McCoy's replacement, Jake Delhomme, only allowing more than 17 points in a game to passers with at least a 2-to-1 touchdown pass-to-interception ratio (Tom Brady, Mark Sanchez, Aaron Rodgers, Ben Roethlisberger and Joe Flacco). Delhomme has thrown just one touchdown pass against six interceptions in 2010. McCoy, who has been aided by his ability to make plays on the move (something that has hurt the Dolphins), figures to have his mobility limited if he returns Sunday.
Matchup that should concern Dolphins: It's very simple. Running back Peyton Hillis is the Browns' single threat, combining speed and power and a keen ability to catch passes. In the four games since the Browns' bye week, Hillis has piled up 666 of his 1,319 total yards, averaging 55 yards receiving in those games. If the Dolphins hold him under 100 yards, the path is paved for a victory. Hillis is the latest talent jettisoned by Denver Broncos coach Josh McDaniels to play in Miami Gardens this season (joining Brandon Marshall and the Bears' Jay Cutler).
