I don't care that he was a 3rd round pick... He is a waste of a roster spot and needs to be cut. He has shown nothing at all. Zero. Just own up to your mistake Miami and let him go. Roster spots should be earned, not handed out.

Practice squad too good for him. lol maybe the league should hand out compensation picks to teams that cut busts drafted from rds 1-4 within a year.

He's had a couple of nice blocks out there . . . nothing in the passing game as of yet but I think they'll target him in this fourth quarter.

If only we would have used a pick on a TE, the year before.

Guy is garbage, if we release him we would probably be able to put him in the PS cause no team will want him.

Biggest bust since Patrick Turner. And Turner was released a year after we drafted him.

---------- Post added at 11:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:06 PM ----------

Or the Ireland rule since Ireland has a knack for drafting busts.

While i have been adamant every single day since that draft that i HATED this pick, and still do, you don't cut him for 4 reasons....

1 - He's young and was a project coming in, so maybe he just needs time
2 - He's only a 3rd stringer, so what is the risk by keeping him a bit longer?
3 - It's him versus Mastrud.....it's not like by cutting him we are really gaining much.
    4 - He was a 4th round pick.

Yeatman can always be a blocking TE in short yardage and be tackle eligible.

I agree Egnew is not looking good. If he loses his ATM card he is screwed because the world knows his code is "4848".

I thought hooshoops was just being negative when we drafted him, about how bad he is, but wow. Just wow after preseason. Wasted 3rd that could've went to a more needed position. Not that athletic TE isn't a need. Depending on Clay

Well considering Vernon and Randle had a sack and half total, Miller and matthews looked solid, obviously Tannehill has looked good, Martin will be fine. If we miss on egnew and the rest continue to improve...that is a good draft to me. Get over it...some guys dont pan out! You can look at EVERY team and see failures...hell the jets just acquired the number 2 overall from 2009 cause he was a bust. Let it go!!

Looks like another terrible draft pick by Ireland. How many 2nd and 3rd round draft picks have they wasted since he's been here? Oh I forgot it's all Parcells' fault.

They looked halfway decent playing against scrubs. Lets see them do it against the big boys. It's going to be a long year. Name me 2 teams on the schedule that have less talent as a team than Ireland's Dolphins.

---------- Post added at 11:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:37 PM ----------

I am hoping that if this team ends up with a top 5 pick this year, which there is a very good chance they will be competing for, that Ross wises up and gets rid of the guy who can't draft players that are difference makers.

I think Tannehill is going to be the real deal while Mathews and Miller both look promising. However in the back of my head I still think of the past when some young guys have looked great in the preseason but then disappeared when the real games started. I hope that's not the case with these guys and I hope something lights up in Egnew's head or someone lights a fire under his butt. Just tired of being disappointed every year and seeing so many high draft picks being wasted.

Miami has needed to rebuild for years. I for one have been realistic that this team is going to suck. Jesus the 9ers 2 years ago were 6-10. Detroit went 0-16 for Christ's sake then got better 2 years later. Overhauls take time. I love how I point out some positives and you respond "it was against scrubs." Seriously dude, did you expect Miami to go 12-4 this year? 10-6? I knew where they were headed as soon as they traded Marshall. At least give the coaching staff a fricken regular season game before crying. We have not even gotten thru preseason. This team will be better by the end of the year and MOST IMPORTANTLY Tannehill will be able to show he is going to be our qb of the future.

---------- Post added at 11:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:01 PM ----------

Well with all I have said I still hope Ireland gets fired.lol I would say his drafting has been average. Not awful but not real good either. You don't win that way IMO.

wow! it's amazing how nobody who looked like crap in their first training camp/preseason ever turned into anything! are the dolphins even considering NOT cutting one of their third round picks on the cutdown to 53? how is that possible? take the time to allow somebody to develop insead of the knee jerk response that would be indicated by some football fans who have HBO or a computer? not declare him a bust before he sets foot on a field in a game that counts? wtf?

I wasn't expecting much from the team this year and I understand that they are rebuilding which is fine. I am willing to give Philbin and the coaching staff a chance to prove themselves. The thing that worries me is Ireland and his drafting.
I am still looking forward to seeing Tannehill play along with the rest of the team.

I agree, I just don't have much confidence in Ireland being able to build a Championship caliber team.
