He is obviously struggling with adapting to the NFL, I read somewhere that he having problems blocking well if this is the case why not try him out at WR?

I think to be honest it comes from his inability to read and adjust to option routes and blocking assignments. If that is the case then Tannehill and Egnew would have to be on the same page when it comes to WR's option routes. If he understands that facet then let him play if not....well he would end up being a liability.

How can you have confidence in a staff that scouted him, drafted him in the 3rd round and he may not see the field once this year? Insane.

btw I mean confidence as in they have a lot of draft picks to work with for the 2013 draft. Why should anyone feel good about it with picks like they have made over the last 3-4 years.

But that would mean someone isn't a genius, and we all know that can't be true.

He ran a 4.53 at his combine. Thats pretty fast for a TE. Not Vernon Davis fast (4.38) but faster than say gronkowski (4.68).

Right...a 4.53 fresh out of the bed in his underwear.

How fast is he when it matters? How fast is he in the blazing heat. How fast is he in the fourth quarter after he's played the entire game. How fast is he in full pads.

I'm not saying the guy isn't good or can't play, but I've never been blown away by someone's 40 time. That's one of the least impressive combine numbers out there.

Well seeing as your 4.8 was a wild guess I'm going to guess 4.55 ish.

Well seeing as how Egnew actually ran a 4.62 40 at the actual combine, what was 4.53 that you posted earlier? Was that a wild guess?

Youre saying that full pads and being tired after three quarters of play only affects your 40 time by 0.02 seconds?

    You're smarter than that.

He ran a low of 4.52 so no it wasn't a wild guess it was a fact.

As for how fast in pads... who knows really. But hes still fast enough would be my guess. Is he good enough though? Hahah thats the real question here now isnt it =)

That's on the low end lol. Who looks at that stuff and takes it seriously. What was his official time?

This is from NFL.com...the league that he plays in. Again, this official number is in his underwear. Guys don't play football in their underwear so I'm not going to spring from my couch over a guy in his underwear running 40 yards dashes. Get him in pads and let me know about it.

The original discussion stems from moving him to WR. This is virtually impossible because in pads, he's not fast enough to play WR.

Well seeing as how they determine a players 40 time at the combine by averaging all their runs I would say everyone looks at the Low time lol =)

What's the fascination with this guy.
He was a high draft pick that didn't work out.
    It happens to every team.
    Get over it.

That would be nice for a change. Seems like a lot of our players go elsewhere and become great, or at least solid NFL starters.

I always give WRs, TEs, and CBs (if NOT picked in first) at least one season to adjust and get it together; the NFL is really different from college at those positions. Egnew never blocked a soul at Mizzou - hell, he hardly ever lined up alongside a tackle (he was typically in the slot or out wide in their shotgun spread). He has always been a project, and 3rd round projects aren't going to have a huge impact right away. As for his intelligence/grasp of the game/playbook, I have no idea...
