Pretty dead on. I would swap Jones and Culver though. I really think the JOnes was drafted to groom behind Bell to be our SS.

I'm pretty sure that if you're on IR you don't count against the 53 man roster. AJ Edds, if he isn't already, will be put on IR soon. Merling may be a different story. I don't know if the Non-Football Injury list counts towards the roster.

I like it... my only concern is that i don't see a KR/PR in this group - but that is to be expected.

who knows, maybe Nolan Carroll. he's going to get more looks as a returner with Sheets out. we know Cobbs can do the KR duties, even though he's not a burner. but he can get us decent field position. Bess had a extremely bad season as PR. still, he's the safest bet there at the moment.

i'm not at all convinced that our 5th WR and 3rd TE are already on the team though, especially the 5th WR. if you look at some other teams, they're going to have some difficult decisions to make at WR. guys like Yamon Figurs or Syndric Steptoe could be available later on. maybe even André Davis. we'll see. for now, the 53-man roster isn't that hard to predict IMO.

First of all, IR does not count against the final 53. Merling is on Active/NFI which isn't a designation in the regular season. A player on the Active/NFI list during preseason will be moved to the active roster or placed on IR or PUP. If on PUP the player does not count against the final 53 and is not eligible to return for six weeks.

There's no way Miami carries 4 QBs. I'm not sure if Pennington or Thigpen will be traded or if White will be cut or placed on PUP/IR/Reserve-NFI/etc., but one of those guys will not be here come September. In fact, White has played so poorly in the first week of camp a case could be made to put him on reserve now so he can "work out his personal issues" so he's not stealing reps from Pennington and Thigpen.

The two TE set is a staple of this offense so you can't keep just two guys. Additionally, the TEs actually serve as backup/emergency FBs. Sperry or Nalbone will make the team.

I think Incognito has a little more upside, but he's also a head case and the coaching staff and front office know exactly what they're going to get with Procter. I think Procter has a slight edge in the race for the 5th interior lineman slot though the race is very difficult to call.

If Patrick Turner can keep doing what he's been doing the first week of camp, he'll be the 5th WR. Grice-Mullen is a PS candidate unless Turner fizzles (a la last year) or G-M sizzles in the return game.

Tony McDaniel will make this roster. He's the third best DE and is very good when he moves down in Miami's 2 DT front. Miami has overloaded on the DL the last few years and I expect they'll keep 7 guys again. That will leave Douglas, Grant, Baker, and Dotson figting for two spots. Baker plays so hard is has such versatility that I really expect him to get one of the spots.

You can't keep just 8 LBs when you're a 3-4 defense unless you don't have any talent there (a la Miami in 2008)...you're rotating guys too often and the backups need to be core special teamers. We've got a lot of talent and I agree 7 of your guys are locks. I'm not saying Spitler won't make the final 53, but I'm giving an edge to Folsom right now considering he's played in the system a year and he's practiced this week. The fifth OLB spot is a very interesting race since Walden is a beast on special teams (and has shown a little rush ability), McCoy is rushing the passer well of late, and Moses always seems to find a way into the defensive backfield (though he probably fits best as a DE on a 4-3 defense).

I think you've got the DBs pegged.

Not bad but i dont think we keep 4 QB'S....................

Looks good to me, but I really wish we some explosiveness on our return game, Im still bitter about Sheets... and with the wedge rule now, it will be even harder.

Those are good predictions, but the only thing I wouldn't be happy with is if Bess ended up being the punt returner.
