Our D...

This isn't really news. We knew it was going to be an issue
yeah but how did we go from last year and look like NOTHING has improved? This is why you dont draft a specialist #1 when you still have Major Glaring holes. We needed 2 more starting LBers, 2 corners, and a saftey...and even then we get ZERO push on the Dline.

Same scheme, my friend. Same damn scheme.

Outside of Suh our defense looked like a team full of cream puffs. Non physical and disinterested. Makes me sick. When in the hell are we going to build a defense that flies to the ball and hits ball carriers with some real pop??!!

What exactly is the point of the wide 9? What is is supposed to do? what does it cover up? It certainly doesnt cover short underneath passes and rivers isnt a top 10 QB. we play 9 top 10ish QBs this season that are going to make that defense look pathetic.

Defense was horrible, held the Chargers to 44 yeards rushing, with 26 coming on one carry and the rest for one yard per carry. Also gave up 17 points to the Chargers in LA.

:D:D

Some peole will always find something to be unhappy about, even if there's plenty to enjoy.

We had a non existent pass rush and were getting shredded by the Chargers passing game. Our secondary is putrid.

It's a wide pass rush set used for obvious passing downs that let's the DE's pin their ears back and take an aggressive angle on the tackles. That's it.

And for some reason, that I can't explain, we've made it into a scheme.

The only time it was ever used to defend the run was against the 90's Colts when they were still in the AFC East. Belichick used it solely as a gameplan vs them with Willie McGInnest and other long, lengthy defenders to quickly get out on the edge and stop the Colt's most used run which was an outside stretch. It also made Manning uncomfortable when trying to use play action off that stretch run as well b/c he had to turn his back to the edge rusher aligned in the 9 technique.

The run defense looks improved though. Pass rush look like it took a step back. I'm not liking maxwell however

Our run D was slightly improved by having a better MLB to flow to the ball. Hull played well in that aspect, just as he did last year when we held David Johnson in check in Alonso's absence.

Same scheme, but the reason why Joseph got a HC job even after awful performances towards the end of last year was that he had the knack for dialing up the right play call in a key situation in the game to seal a win, a big reason why this team had a great run last year. I didn't see any of the right calls with Burke today.
