When can make a big splash on both sides of the ball and make this team an yearly contender.

First, Long needs to stay with the team. When he is healthy he is easily one of the best LTs in the league. And we need to keep the line together for Tannehill. We have been complaining for years on how the line has been changed every year, last year we finally had a line that worked and we need to keep it together.

Next we need to sign Wallace and bring Hartline back. With those 2 and Bess in the slot its the perfect trio for Tannehill.

Sean Smith also needs to be resigned. With the size of todays WRs, you cant just let a CB that can compare to them walk off to another team. Besides at the beginning of last year he started out playing well and did progress from previous years in a system that was new to him. He may not be worth the money this year, but what about next year and after that?

Last name we need to sign is Goldson, it will shore up the safety position for years.

Cut Richard Marshall or Patterson to free up some more cap space.

Trade Odrick for a few picks between this year and next year. With Starks back I think the line of Wake, Starks, Soliai, Vernon will work very well.

Trade down in the first round and grab another pick or 2 for later.

Draft Eifert in the 1st.
Draft are second CB in the 2nd and fell in depth with the rest of are picks.

It probably wont be very popular with bringing Long and Smith back, but any Thoughts?

So basically, adding Wallace & Goldson plus a handful of rookies leads to the "quick contender" route?

Um. Ok.

No way Smith will be back and quite frankly I'm glad. Keep Odrick and Long. Goldson would be awesome. We still need a cb and draft picks are all hit or miss

No im saying by adding a few pieces that we missing from last year and we go from 7-9 to 10-6 or even 11-5. we lost 4 games by 1 score and with a few more pieces and another camp and we can easily be that team.

so we are going to turn Long who is not a zone blocker into a zone blocker?Id rather pay the 10-11 million he wants to an actual zone blocking tackle and let martin continue at LT...

13Nate Solder$1,793,817
5Logan Mankins$7,000,000
24Ryan Wendell$1,000,000
10Dan Connolly$2,333,333
25Sebastian Vollmer$980,000

this was the patriots starting oline last year...it totals just over 13 million and people actually wonder why we have no weapons

please for the love of don shula, realize that we need weapons for ryan tannehill...jake long is not a weapon...he has never in his career scored a TD...he has never ran for a 1st down...

how about we start getting smart like the pats and pay the people who score you points...

just to continue this topic, please look at the ravens starting oline from the superbowl

9Bryant McKinnie$3,200,000
33Kelechi Osemele$608,340
18Matt Birk$1,625,000
8Marshal Yanda$3,650,000
12Michael Oher$2,035,000
$11,118,340

We do not require a 8-10 million dollar tackle...this is not the 80s and 90s or even 00s...this is the 10s and we need receivers, de's, and shutdown corners...We hopefully have the right qb...

i don't know about the rest of your offseason plan, but Wallace + Eifert win an extra 2-3 games IMO

Great posts with the OL salary detail. The entire starting OL for the Patriots and Ravens were cheaper than Jake Long......wow?!?

IMHO, we need new playmakers (plural) on offense, to maintain the front 7 on defense and add two new corners.

I'm I the only one that would be happy with Nate Solder? Whenever I've watched the guy play he's done very well against Cam Wake....

There is no way I pay Long 11-12 million with his average play and the way he is breaking down every year. Sometimes you need to realize when enough is enough!

We need to go forward with Jonathan Martin, he will be better in year two and find the right guy to man RT. That free's up a lot of cap space to fill holes and find a playmaker or two.

If you look at the successful organizations, they don't overpay those that underachieve.....they know when to cut them loose and move on.

You aren't getting a few picks for Odrick! He is the next underachieving first round bust out the door! Take a Cornfed Turd that has no defined role and leave Earl Thomas, Dez Bryant and Demaryus Thomas on the board! Who needs a freaking playmaker when we can get a 2 down lineman that breaks bones in a strong breeze!

puhleese. Sean Smith is a goner, good riddance! Im sick of his silly celebrations for making a tackle, the guy gets burned all the time...all 6'3" of him. That height isnt helping him. Agreed on Ling making too much...OL is overstated a bit and we have a mobile QB.

Lets spend on playmakers and draft some more OL in Rd 3-5.

agreed about odrick, no way in hell they even get a 5th rounder for him. to think who we couldve drafted instead of pee wee odrick is pretty depressing.

how bout signing mike wallace- keenan lewis and dashan goldson...that would be a dream offseason. we could then draft eiffert at 12, best available cb in rd 2 along with ryan swope. we'd still have possibly 4 more picks in rds 3 and 4 to address ol and de.

Seeing the online salary for other teams, no way Long comes back with his cap #, same for Smith- who is avg at best and need to let someone else over pay for him. With Longs cap#, could get two lineman, FA and draft and improve. Hearing a lot ofLong to Az talk but really find it hard to think he gets any where near what he is asking for so will be interesting to see if AZ or CHI pay him that kind of coin. Regardless if he goes would Miami get a comp pick for him?
