Will be signing very soon.
3-4 end from Tennessee. Came out too early but has good, good talent.
then that's good good news.
who is he? i'm not familiar with him
What's his story?
i liked him a lot coming out. hasnt been to impressive in Tenn. hopefully hes a better fit for the 3-4
Do you have a general idea of what the contract will look like?
Boomer, what about the tackle from Pittsburg Max Starks? Any news on him?
so in one day our defense has gone from OLD to younger and more versitile now sign us some safetys and corners and go heavy offense in draft first few rounds.
Was a DT at Maryland, played next to Haynesworth and at end. Was very raw coming out. He's 6'3, 312 and he was 19 when he was drafted, thus despite being a 4 year guy, he's still only 24/25.
randy is decent. max is too slow to block parcells - but his size is just sooooo tempting.
thanks I saw this on the NFL site also
It's hard to get on the field when you're behind All-Universe NT Albert Haynesworth.
I don't think Miami touches him with a bargepole. Very overrated guy. Mo Williams is the guy they like.
Sorry L2G....I don't.
BTW, Can we get some sort of sticky thread with a running list of FA's signed by Miami?
Thanks Boomer! think all the signings make sense to you?
No worries, thanks for the heads up.
Plug in Smiley, Torbor, Ferguson, Starks and Pace, and notice how all of these additions are front 7 defensive players and OL, while a lot of people were focusing on WR, safeties and CBs? Welcome to the Bill Parcells architecture.
Think how much much beef the Dolphins have added to their front 7. You might be able to run around a Parcells team, but you absolutely will not out muscle him and push him around at the point of attack.
randy starks nice!
Thank you, im so sick of that guys name ocming up. he reminds me of shelton an underachiever.
As for the D linemen starks, what role is starks to play here? DT? LE? RE?
BTW is Mo for LT?RT? or G? From waht i know he did well at G last year when he was called upon.
Randy Starks is a good move. Real young with good size. Could really develop into something.
Boomer, any news on Pace or McCown? And any idea when Starks will be announced?
Starks and R. Wright as our 3-4 DE's looks real promising.
Good we have now signed two guys i thought were pretty good values in Smiley and Starks. Although smiley cost more than I thought.
I posted on another thread last night if Randy Starks might be a good pickup.
He's 24 years old and been in the league 4 years, 6'3" 312lbs, has played in 60 games, starting 36 and he has 10.5 sacks.
From the Official Site of the Tenneessee Titans
They're at Davie today, that's all we know.
Boomer. What do you think a signing of Pace would mean for Jason Taylor, Joey Porter and Chris Long?
Also, has your opinion of Jake Long changed lately? I am still very leery of him despite the combine performance, but I am wondering if you have changed your mind.
Hey Boomer, if Pace is signed do you see Chris Long still being considered?
Thanks Boomer. What about Ferguson? Is he healthy enough to hold down the tackle spot temporarily while we mold a draftee?
i posted a scouting report on starks last night, he sounds very promising i will post it agan
Possesses an excellent size/speed/athleticism combination. A fast, light-footed 300+ pounder with a quick first step. Stays low out of his stance and plays with great leverage. Gets a good push and can collapse the pocket. Has some pass rush moves and uses his height to bat down balls. Makes plays in pursuit. A solid tackler. Can drop into coverage on zone blitzes. Hard working and coachable.
Will get over-aggressive at times and will be taken out of some plays. Must learn to keep his feet moving and to use his strength more effectively. Needs refinement. Tries to beat the snap count and will jump offsides.
Randy was on my team at Maryland. This is a good move.
It certainly makes things more interesting. Unless they're going to cut Joey Porter.
is there a link to this story or is there a site saying we are signinging starks? i cant find it on the net
I get the feeling like we will be going offense in this draft bigtime.
Most definately offensive line! It's a deep, deep class this year!
They franchised starks, did they not?
Parcells wasting no time rebuilding Dolphins
Within the first 12 hours of the free-agent signing period, the Miami Dolphins already had signed one player and scheduled at least three visits, and it would be no surprise to see them sign at least four free agents by the end of the day.
The Dolphins signed former Jets free-agent tight end Sean Ryan to a one-year deal and were expecting visits from Arizona linebacker Calvin Pace, Oakland quarterback Josh McCown and Tennessee defensive tackle Randy Starks. Talks with Starks, for one, are heating up.
