Rex Ryan doesn't understand football...
is this really a story?
Yes it's a story...any quality coach would keep comments like that behind closed doors! He just thru the Jets rooky QB under the bus...he want ole pick6 to start.
This sums up how I feel about this -
Schadenfreude Listeni/ˈʃɑːdənfrɔɪdə/ (German: [ˈʃaːdənˌfʁɔʏdə]) is pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others. This word is a loanword from German, the direct English translation is 'Damage-Joy' or 'Fail-Joy', it is the feeling of joy when one sees another fail, and is also borrowed in some other languages
anything the Jets do you will bash, he said he had a bad day. Did he say his career was over? you guys make every little thing into a big thing b/c of your hatred/jealousy of the Jets.
"We" didn't make anything out of this. It was written by a national sports web site. If you're going to get angry at someone then blame them for reporting it.
And everything that's written you feel a need to defend? If it's just a bad day, why not just ignore the thread and posts inside?
Wow is Rex stupid. It's so amazing to see Rex talk when I'm so used to Belichick in my own camp.
Rex is a total idiot. I hope the Jets never get rid of him
I am not angry, more amused at how adults are manipulated by headlines.
Belichick w/o Brady was a failure as a HC. His way works because of Brady.
Cheating does work. It even works after you get caught if both those in authority and the opposition agree in secret not to bring you to justice. Wouldn't want the league to lose $$$ now would we
Adults wrote the article nationally.

Notice you didn't get a response
This is a discussion board, right?
 spoke too soon.
Rex wants to keep coaching the jests in 2014. :d-day:
He is so transparent. It's going to be funny watching them try and draft Clowney next year. :brewskis:
Tebow is the one that lucked out. Talk about a dramatic reversal of fortune. Playing for the jests and Rex then going to Billichik and the Patriots.
I still think he can turn around his career. Look at how long it took Steve Young to be a winning QB.
He responded b/c of my post of course :3w:
lmao at being jealous of the Jest:lol2:
If there was any team I'd be jealous of it'd be the Pats
He shouldn't say things like that. These are the little things he does that piss me off as a fan.
It's not really a big deal but you never hear other coaches say things like this. It just doesn't need to be said, but at the end of the day it doesn't affect anybody. It's just annoying.
do I ever run and hide? obviously I didn't see it originally and even reading what is the need for a response?
you guys should be jealous of the Bengals, outside of the Browns(same # of playoff apps since 2002 by the way), Bills and maybe Lions you should be jealous of every other team who has had much more success than Miami this Century.
why shouldn't he? he has a pulse of his players, he knows when guys need a kick or a pat on the back.
Tear him a new one in his office. No need to tell the media he was "brutal".
He obviously had a bad practice, but everyone has bad practices. Tom Brady has bad practices. Tell Geno to pick it up and move on. He doesn't need to make it a headline that his guy played poorly in a stupid practice thats going to mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. And he doesn't need to praise a guy to the media who had a great practice either. Those things annoy me. There stupid, they mean nothing and it just creates for unnecessary minor stories.
I agree a little but clearly rex thinks he needs a little kick in the butt. He didn't say he sucks and will never succeed, he said he had a bad practice. I'll trust rex's judgement on how to handle his players.
BLAH BLAH BLAH I'm only jealous of teams that have won Super Bowls recently
No but there have been times where you haven't responded to people. And no I will not point them out b/c I have a ****ing life.

The Jets organization could kill puppies and blow up half the world and you'd be on their side :chuckle:
I don't do it intentionally, I usually have many people responding to me and sometimes I miss stuff.
That's just not true, I bash them when they deserve it and I praise when they deserve it. The proof is in my post history.
You trust Rex in handling his players? So he was right to bench Sanchez last year?
absolutely, he deserved to be benched.
Considering I have no memory of you ever saying anything negative about the Jets I guess they're few and far between.
Spygate was a media invention. It never happened. Just a lie repeated enough to become true in the eyes of Patriot haters that are mad.
y u so mad tho?
This is all your perception. I didn't say many good things about them last year b/c we stunk, I have been on this board since 2004 and in most of those years we have been good so I have said more good than bad but when they deserve it I bash.
You bash them but make excuses for them not being good. I don't see how you can be on both sides. "They were a poor football team BUT it's b/c of injuries". Does one not cancel out the other?
Those are facts, the injuries were a huge factor in how bad we were. would we have been a SB team if healthy? no way but we would have been playoff contenders and mark would have been as bad. Injuries are part of the game and we weren't healthy but it doesn't mean I can't discuss them.
It's Rex's way of promoting Sanchez essentially. I think with the fan base split on Sanchez and many rooting for Geno it is in Rex's best interest to bash Geno. There is no reason for any coach to go public blasting a rookie like that. These things belong within the confines of the organization. We know that Sanchez will start the season. Geno having 'brutal' practices quells any controversy.
Seems the owner and gm want smith to start but the guy with sanchez tattoo wants pick 6 to run the show. Either way it won't make much of a difference. With buttfumble starting the year out as 1st string , the first act of the circus will be more entertaining.
wow Rex calling out his rookie QB this early in the preseason.im so glad im not a Jets fan
I honestly think Rex wants to get fired at this point. Between this and the "Well, you know, I wasn't watching, I don't know" comment when Sanchez threw that pick six, wow. Just wow.
I've heard him say things like this a lot. I remember in 2009-2010 he would come out and say "Vernon Gholston had a great practice today" or "The offense had their best practice of the year". And then Gholston doesn't see the field/doesn't produce when he is on it or the offense struggles or he says "the offense looked really bad out there today" and then the offense plays well. There's just no reason to go out of your way to praise a player or unit or bash one based on what they do in one single day of practice. It's just dumb and meaningless and can only lead to stupid non stories like this. The papers or ESPN are not going to comment when he says Geno had a great practice, they're just going to comment when the coach says something negative. I've heard him say things about Sanchez too (both negative and positive). This happens to be the first time one of these things has made a headline.
There is just no reason to say it. And like I said it's not a big deal and it means nothing but when I see "Rex Ryan says Geno Smith had a brutal practice" come scrolling across the bottom-line on Sports Center I just shake my head.
