And after all those (hopeful?) doomsday predictions the new CBA is pretty much the same as the old one.....the big three are going nowhere, the Heat will have a mid-level exception to sign additional free agents, and as long as Arison is willing to shell out a few million to help out his fellow impoverished owners the Heat will be able to keep adding players to the roster over the next 5 yrs.

Sign a big man with the cash and get a couple vets looking to ride some coattails to a title and the Heat will be in good shape. Dalembert and Grant Hill would do nicely. Nene and Prince would look even better but that would just be unfair.

MM out for two months with hernia surgery.......man just can't catch a break. Hate to say it but this might be the last straw. If it was caused by unsanctioned activity they could look to void the contract or use the amnesty clause on him. I'm holding out hope that he gets another chance.......the promise of that lineup of Wade, James, Miller, Bosh, and Haslem is so great, I'd like to see it for at least one season.

Free Agency starts Monday. Maybe we'll land Nene. I doubt it, but I've got a little hope.

Nene would be such a huge pickup, Dalembert seems more likely though.

So many teams are going to have to spend so much money just to get to salary floor set at 90% of the cap that Nene and Gasol shouldn't have any problem finding a max deal somewhere. Chandler should get 10+ as well. Even Dalembert might get a big short term deal. If you're the Kings and have to spend 20 million why not give Dalembert a 2 yr 20 mil deal if you think he can help the youngsters develop?

Saw that as well, but Portland can match any offer the Heat makes.

Last year in the middle of the season, I was talking to my buddy on how I thought we would try to land him. I think he would be a great fit if he can stay healthy

As much as I want Tyson Chandler or NeNe over Dalambert or Oden...I don't think it's going to happen, NeNe most likely will get max and Chandler won't be to far behind. We will see though, we did resign Wade, signed LeBron and Bosh. Riley is a god and anything can happen

Battier signing with the Heat.....love the signing but at the same time hope they didn't give him the full MLE.

Word is if Chandler signs with the Knicks, they will amnesty Billups and he ends up in Miami...thoughts?

If Billups is amnestied, every team under the cap gets first dibs on him. I think he'll make it clear that hes not interested in playing for a non-contender and doesn't want anyone bidding on him but that's not necessarily going to stop them.

That being said, if he makes it through that minefield I think Riley would be first in line to greet him.

I think Eddy Curry is just a hopeful signing he's, not gonna do much he can score at least some

the Heat also reSigned Chalmers and James Jones, Battier is a great addition

Its seems an awfully risky move counting on Curry and Pittman to be the bigs on this team. The projected roster:

    PG: Chalmers, Cole
    SG: Wade, Miller
    SF: James, Battier, Jones
    PF: Bosh, Haslem, Howard
    C: Anthony, Curry, Pittman

Its hard to believe they would be able to find someone willing to take Miller's contract and give up a center in return.

Anyone watching the Red and Black game? I know it's only a scrimmage but Norris Cole is looking pretty good

the whole bench looked good in this preseason game especially Terrell Harris he has a spot on the team if he keeps this up. 2 spots are available and based on this game I'd give them to Byars and Harris. some young legs

on another note anyone who watched this game, was it just me or did Dexter Pittman look like a beast. he frustrated Dwight the whole time he was in and is holding his ground on the boards. can score as well. I think hes our starter at center all Joel did tonight was foul.

Norris Cole is one of my favorites he really knows how to set people up 8 assists in 30 minutes would be my guess. he forced a few shots but any rookie will do that he will learn, Chalmers did enough to keep his starting job for now

Great win for the Heat. The Mavs must still be drunk from the Finals after parties. Pathetic performance on their part.

Gonna be a great season. So much depth on this team.....somehow Spo is going to have to find minutes for Battier, Miller, Jones, Cole, and Haslem. Dunno how long he can keep playing Anthony and Chalmers with that kind of talent on the bench.

Cole is one quick little guy....a great answer to all the problems this team had with speedy guards last season. Now with Battier in the mix the Heat can match up against any perimeter threat. Only question now is if Bosh, Haslem, and James can hold their own against the big front lines in Chicago, NY and whoever comes out of the west.

Another solid win vs. Boston but...

Wow, they sure do need to work on their zone offense some day this year. By the Dallas blueprint, teams will switch to the zone in the 4th. Boston almost pulled out a win.

    Loving Cole, he's clutch.

Haslem work on his jumpers much? Brick city.

Fortunately most teams don't work much on zone defense in the regular season but come playoff time if the Heat don't have a better plan of attack they'll be seeing a lot of it. Its not like its some great mystery as to how you attack the zone....

Can we just go ahead and hand the starting job to Cole already? I know Spoelstra will drag this out but it already seems inevitable.

I hear you man, wow Chalmers was embarrassing - what did he have like 5 turn overs under a minute LOL. He looks lost, while Cole is playing with a ton of confidence. Going to be fun watching him play.
