Jumpshot and handle and both unrefined and will need a lot of work. His shot off the dribble is just awful but that can wait.....first priority for anyone playing next to Wade and Dragic is going to be hitting the set three point jumper.

I don't really like the Leonard or Butler comparisons. Hes nowhere near the physical specimen Leonard is, and until I see him improve I'm not going to assume hes willing to put forth the effort that Butler has to transform his game. Hes got an NBA body, seems to be an intelligent and hard working young man, and has the ability to finish. If he can hit the set shot he should be at the very least a serviceable player, and can only go up from there.

Heat sign Gerald Green to a one year deal. A good shooter and athlete, the former which has been a dire need of this team for a while now. It does further crowd the rotation and probably means if Winslow is going to see much in the way of playing time its going to have to be at the 2.

Assuming Chalmers is as good as gone. Riley should be able to find a taker for that deal without having to throw in a draft pick......its not a horrible contract and a team like the Knicks could actually use his services. The team is coming into focus:

    PG: Dragic, Napier
    SG: Wade, Winslow, Zoran
    SF: Deng, Green, Richardson, Ennis???
    PF: Bosh, McRoberts
    C: Whiteside, Anderson, Haslem, Reed???

Get the feeling Anderson's days may be numbered as well. This Reed kid has been playing really well in summer league and should get a chance to earn a roster spot in training camp. Ennis may be on his way out as well. The only thing hes got going for him is that hes on a very team friendly deal......not hard to justify giving him another year to develop when he costs less than a mil and the Heat have his rights for two more seasons after this one. But hes got to show some progress.

Gerald Green is a terrific signing. I think most importantly it allows us to run. Green is tremendous on the fast break and has played with Dragic before. as we know Dragic loves to run

I also think Mario and Anderson are goners. Arison wants to lessen the luxury tax burden on him. meaning shedding some salary. I believe Mario and Anderson would cut about 11 million combined by trading them. Amare is getting a long look from Riley. don't be surprised if Amare is Andersons replacement. I think when we play small he can play the 5 off the bench. Marcus Thornton is my guess for Chalmers replacement.

you miscast Richardson. he's a SG who has played a lot of PG before so he could be an emergency PG. Richardson is clearly a better shooter then Winslow at this stage and I like his defense

I don't know much about Richardson but from the limited viewing this summer he doesn't look like hes going to be a point guard. I slotted him in at the 3 because I think Winslow is going to see most of his time at the 2 and I see Richardson and Ennis being in competition for a roster spot.

I'm not much of a fan of Amare and somehow I doubt Riley is going to be able to convince him that the Heat have enough minutes to go around. Unless McRoberts turns out to be a complete disaster on the defensive end I think they want to roll with him and see what he offers as far as playmaking and floor spacing at the 4 and even 5. He offers up the intriguing possibility of having 5 guys on the floor that can all drive, shoot, pass, and finish.....something the Spurs had when they went with Diaw, the Warriors with Green and Igoudala, the Heat with Bosh and Battier.

yes sir I remember when we signed McRoberts everyone said he was our Diaw. he should be good for us, I really hope they don't try to dump him due to his salary I have heard rumors of wanting to get rid of him

I doubt it. Both he and Riley could have backed out of that deal after Lebron bolted and neither did. To me that proves mutual interest and at the very least I think Riley would like to see who it is he signed and if he can fit in with what Spoelstra wants to do.

Yes sir we got him. Now just add Thornton and i think we have the shooters we need

I think backup PG is the only weakness if that happens. I am not a Chalmers fan. And Napier didn't show alot last year

Still find it hard to believe Chalmers will be around next season but if he is I think hes shown himself to be an able PG next to someone like Wade. As long as all he has to do is bring the ball up the court, play a little defense, and hit the corner three I think hes alright. Dragic can handle most of the second team duties and lead a small ball lineup.

I'd rather have Chalmers of those 2.

I think more than anything, it means they really like Josh Richardson . . . . even as a backup PG option. Gerald Green is a very solid backup shooting guard who can fill in nicely if Wade needs a game off here and there . . . . but I'm having a tough time seeing them dump Rio at this point as they'd rely on 3 favorable shooting guard options (Richardson, Johnson, Walker) to be the backup PG . . . when Rio can clearly be a solid backup PG.

I think they start the season with Rio as the primary backup at point, but he could get the Norris Cole treatment come trading deadline time if Richardson and or/Johnson step up and prove to be solid backup options at the point.

Napier never fit and really looks like a "Lebron pick" at this point. Riles messed that pick up. He doesn't even like short, skinny point guards who have problems fighting through screens and his shot just never showed up on the NBA level . . . we saw that early on in the 2014 Summer League. I am a bit surprised they dumped him so early, but if the writing is on the wall then you may as well move on and give someone else that opportunity.

Still annoys me that they let Beverley walk. Two first round picks and three years later and we're still stuck with Chalmers.

To be fair Mario Chalmers looked promising his rookie season.

Chalmers isn't that bad, especially as a backup.

Its just that Riley spent 2 first rounders and invested a whole lot of coaching time into Cole and Napier while letting Beverley and Livingston go. Livingston probably wasn't quite ready, but I thought they gave up on him a little early. Beverley came at the worst possible time, when Riley was loading up on vets for the first title run with the big three.

Riley sure does a lot better with second rounders than non-lottery first round picks. Hopefully that's a good omen for the future prospects of Richardson.

It looks like generating points will be an issue again this year.

Gerald Green looks fun. That aleyoop was sick, he almost hit his head off the bottom of backboard.

McBob showing handles, running the floor like pg, behind the back pass to Winslow, fun times!

This second unit is fun to watch, lots of energy tonight.

I like that the second unit is pushing tempo, pushing the ball, moving the ball, getting into the paint, going after rebounds and loose balls. They are not finishing and they are playing out of control, but I like the effort. That's what the second unit is for.

Yahoo reports the #Heat are trading Mario Chalmers and James Ennis to Memphis for Beno Udrih and Jarnell Stokes.

Would be nice if Gerald Green was able to help us. I think he's mentally ill unfortunately. He might need help before he can play for anybody

No doubt we needed his scoring. Without him we are relying on Winslow basically. Tyler Johnson is inconsistent and mario is gone. Maybe Uldrih can help us

Winslow is playing great D but who is our scorer off the bench when Wade sits ?

Are the guys we traded for any good ?

Stokes has basically no stats so i doubt he will even play. I think Uldrih is halfway decent. Basically a cheaper version of Chalmers meaning he is inconsistent

So it was just dumping Mario's salary basically

They are going to need every penny if they want to resign Whiteside or go after Durant need year.

Yea trying to save in the luxury tax bill. I'd consider trading Deng for a 3 point specialist. Winslow can start at the 3. Essentially he has been playing starter minutes

Deng's strength is his ability to play d against the likes of LeBron or try to and Winslow can do that. Just needs to improves his shooting. 10 - 12 points a game would be fine with 5 rebounds and good D. I think he can do that.

One of the best lineups Spoelstra has thrown out there is with Deng and Winslow playing together with Whiteside or Bosh in the frontcourt. Deng hasn't played well and doesn't look like a very good fit in the starting lineup but I doubt he gets traded. Aside from the simple logistics of finding another player making 8-10 mil with only one year left on their contract Deng still provides some defensive versatility and I think he'll start to play better. He looks a little out of shape but a few months of running 5 miles a day will fix that.

If Chalmers was making his jump shot he would have been hard to trade, even with the cash savings. But hes been missing for more than a year now and without that three point shot its hard to put up with all the idiotic things he does. Hes still going to be missed....even his detractors like myself have to admit that hes been playing much better defense the last couple years. There's a pretty big dropoff between him and Dragic/TJ. Richardson can offer some of that but hes probably going to disappear again once Green comes back.

Its so unusual not having Rio to kick around anymore. As extreme a player of highs and lows as we will ever see. He's a doofus and I hated his game for the most part but weirdly I miss him. If he'd just learned to restrict himself to being a 3 and D player he would have been enormously useful to this team but he just couldn't help reverting to wario.

Thankfully, this opens a big playing time spike for TJ who absolutely deserves it and Josh who's shown promise. Getting stokes back is somewhat interesting. He's a great rebounder and if he has the will he'd be a udonis jr, but it's a bit of a long shot. Doubt beno has a role on this team and will probably be packaged w bird before the deadline.

If Dragic starts playing better I think this can be a special season for Miami. I know the Cavs are about to get Irving back. But let's be honest. You can count on Irving being healthy about as much as you can count on Wade being healthy
