Sign one in free agency and draft another.
Dangers of these empty wins is the FO keeping bums around for next year because of one or 2 decent games.
What about the guy we just picked up from Denver, A.J. Derby? I don't know much about him and he has been inactive since we got him, but could he have a future here. Anyone know much about the guy? I just don't have the confidence in Thomas. He's old and slow.
So they're going to make he Bushrod mistake again? I just can't believe Gase would be that dense. Thomas looks like he's running in sand. Everyone has to see that.
Thomas will be cut.
He is quietly having a better season than Dion Sims and Charles Clay.
He will need to restructure tho. He is due 6.6 million and Miami takes no dead cap if we cut him.
Julius is my most hated fin of all time. I ****ing hate him
Agreed. Thomas no longer looks the part. I was immediately shocked at how his body and level of coordination have changed since his heyday with the Broncos.
If our aspirations aren't higher than that I question everything
He stinks, but the problem is there aren't a lot of options this off-season unless you want to get into the Jimmy Graham market.
Draft picks!! We need more draft picks!! Mark Andrews and Dallas Goedert are going to be the next Jason Witten and Tony Gonzalez. Dolphins need to sacrifice whatever necessary and get them both. It would change the future of the Dolphins for the next ten years. Together they could become the greatest TE tandem in the history of the NFL.
Goedert is for real...
Another player with zero upside. He has gotten slower.. hint in 2018 he will be even slower - in other words- not better.
Bushrod- older not better
GRAY!!!!! Wtf Gase
exactly. let's not have wins against bad Buffalo and KC teams mask what has happened most of the year
My HOPE is he's gone, but I see the odds as 50/50 If he takes a pay cut
Fasano is better.
Production is all scheme driven
And as a result the pay should be too
Damn right................he has to go, Dolphins need to move on.
I hate him too but the most hated spot for me is Sammy Smith.
Me too. I think what turned be against the guy is Gase defending him and making excuses for him even though he completely sucked. Didn't he catch a TD Sunday? Yay! Let's throw a party! We'll probably give the bum a huge multiyear contract.
He's played better, but I don't give a damn. I want an explosive tight end that will open up this offense. Cut Thomas, keep Derby, and either draft a tight end high or draft one in the mid rounds and sign a vet.
30 yards receiving a game with a td every 4 games says and the blocking of a 4 yr old...GTFO
Would have liked to see what Thomas could have done with a real QB in Tannehill, but oh well .. he's gotta go.
Please draft a TE. Thank you.
Don't you mean "when"?
anyone with half a brain sees how much slower he is than when he was in Denver...its not even close...with that said, he has been steadily getting better...and who knows how he could have played with Tannehill...but at the end of the day, there is no way in hell that we pay 6 point whatever million a year to keep him...maybe 3 or 4 mil if that....we need to draft a young talented TE early in the draft, no more of these 4th and 5th round projects
Gotta draft a TE. I’d be ok with Thomas returning on a cheaper contract.
I've been hoping we drafted a TE early for years now but we haven't. Yesterday Gase was asked about Thomas and he said something like "I must be watching something different than everyone else" and he also said that "he's done everything that I have asked of him"....if that's the case then I guess he hasn't asked him to do much
Cut him period.
Miami can get the same receiving production and much better point-of-attack blocking from a Dion Sims type TE whose much cheaper.
