I think that no one will bite on OGUN before day 1 of the draft because they won't want to give up the 1st and the 3rd. I believe what will happen is after the 1st day, we will do a sign and trade deal and get a 1st rounder for next season since we probably figure that he won't be here past next seaso sort of like what NE did w/ Bledsoe 3 yrs. ago. If this happens, it's going to suck since we could use the 1st this year to draft a DE in the 1st to take his place. What do you guys think?

I think this is exactly why the team has to strongly consider any offer that is better than a 2nd this year, including offers that involve a 2nd this year and another pick next year. This year's 2nd is worth just as much to this team as next year's 1st. In fact, I would say that a high 2nd all by itself should be good enough...

I think that we should take whatever we can get for him, as long as it is a 2nd or above. The guy is adamant about not playing next year unless he has a HUGE contract in place.

I'd not trade an all pro DE for less than a 1st round pick. We need to get this guy a contract and keep him here. Is not easy to find a DE that can play the run and rush the passer as good as he can. I can't believe that anyone would want to trade him for a 2nd round pick. This is the stupiest thing this team could do imo.AJ was worth a 2nd round pick so now an all pro DE is also worth a 2nd round pick?

    Ozzy rules!!

If we can't get a first, I think we should trade with only the chargers. They need a DE, and could give up their second for him...

I think what will happen is that Miami will use the lack of interest in leverage to present Ogun with a long term contract. Of course that contract will be a low ball contract which Ogun will of course decline. Then Miami will present him with an insentive laden contract which after going back and forth, he will end up signing.

    I have a dream ....

The Boston press conference gets delayed one more day so that it can be a joint conference to annouce the signing of Boston and the RE-SIGNING of O-GUN. Offense and defense ... together again for the first time!

I just want to make it clear that I'd love to see OGun signed. I just think it's important to either sign him or make sure the team controls where he goes and gets something out of it if that isn't going to happen.

If what DCH says is correct then all Ogun wants is a fair contract. I am all for resigning him to a fair contract. I don't think he is in the same level as Kearse or even Winstrom

I'd really like to see the FO re-sign this guy. He makes our defensive line much more effective by playing opposite JT.

Why would you trade a young, Pro Bowl DE for a 1st round pick to draft another young DE who may or may not pan out? I say keep O-Gun if we can, or trade him for a pick to be used in an area of greater need such as OL.

Ok so what is a "fair contract" ? Is it O-gun fair or RS fair. This is what the problem will be . O-gun,s agent is looking for big $! I think he knows he will not get it from the Phins. So his agent will cause as many problems as he can. If a player does not want to be here, there are ways to get out .

Ogunleye has not said that he doesn't want to play for us. The only person we've heard from is Drew & he's tryng to get Ogunleye the most money. A second rounder is unacceptable. Now a second rounder this year & a conditional second rounder next year that would elivate to a 1st if he reaches 12.5 sacks would be cool.

we have enough $ to give him a nice base salary and several million in incentives for him to make up to 4-5 mill for the year. I'd like to see his base around 600K like Madison's and others with incentives for the number of games he plays, sacks, hurries, etc. Nothing outrageous or impossible for him to reach but something that will still only benefit him if he continues to produce and covers us in case of a freak accident (god forbid) or anything else that would prevent him from playing. I think he'd go for something like that.

I know that he is trying to get the best contract possible; BUT i'm so sick of these freakin' guys threataning to sit out and what not because they don't get their freakin' way.

The Dolphins are playing by the rules period. It's not the Fins fault that no one wants to give up a 1st and 3rd. I mean, what does OGun and Drew R. expect the Fins to do, just give him up for absolutely nothing?? That is retarded.

I think he will stay for the 1 year tender and try to leave next year; but Miami will just Franchise him.

    Agreed!!!

He is worth more than a second rounder that is for sure. A first rounder next year isn't a fair price (that is still like basically getting a second). The difference in the Bledsoe deal was the fact that Belichick WASN'T going to play Bledsoe. He was going to ride the pine, so why not trade him when he has value. OGUN is a starter for pretty much any team out there. We will definitely play him so there is no reason to rush into a trade.

We should take nothing less than a first rounder THIS year. The only other option I would consider would be a second rounder this year AND a second next year (replaces the Feeley pick) as long as the team drafts in the top half. I would do this if we can't get OGUN to work with us on something.

I wouldn't even take a 2nd rounder next year, it has to be a FIRST next year and a 2nd this year at a minimum. Drew will have to work with us, We are holding the cards. He can threaten all he wants, we can just slap the Franchise label on him and screw him. It's not like he's Jason Taylor or something, geez...(can you sense the bitterness?)

The franchise tag is a good arguement, as long as we resign Chambers to a long term deal. If we dont I would think the franchise tag will be reserved for him. Ogun is wanting to be paid in the Kearse range Im sure but IMO he is not there YET. If he signs long term the potential is there, maybe thats what he is banking on. That being said if we cant come to an agreement we shouldn't trade him for anything less than a first this year and a second next. If an unproven 3rd string QB is worth a 2nd then a young All Pro DE is worth way more.
