Who is the only Dolphin to lead the league in sacks?
didn't jason taylor do it a few years ago with 18.5?
i think that same year strahan had 22
i think jason only lead the afc... my vote would be keith armstrong
Former 9th round pick Jeff Cross?
wasn't it ogunleye the year before he cashed in with the bears?
You mean "Trace" Armstrong? Without looking it up I would guess either Bill Stanfill or better maybe Bob Baumhower. Something in the deep dark recesses of my aging brain says Baumhower once led the league in sacks from the NT spot. Am I crazy or just old?
never mind; strahan had it that year, ogunleye was second...
Jeff Cross or Trace Armstrong.
I can't remember.
Are you guys sure it wasn't Brain Sochia?
Yeah, it was JT in 2002. I remember him and Ricky was the rushing leader & sack leader in the NFL.
I was about to say the same thing, its JT
It has to be Taylor in 2002. The year he had 18.5 sacks. Strahan's record-breaker was 2001, and I just can't imagine anyone in 2002 got like 19.0 sacks or 19.5 sacks. Strahan did get 18.5 sacks again in 2003, which was Ogunleye's big year.
OK Alex....what is the answer????? :
JT. It's the question of the day on the Dolphin desk Calendar.
yea, that year pissed me off cause we had the leader in rushing, sacks and still didnt make the damn playoffs!!!!!!!!!!
ANNUAL LEADERS IN SACKS (SINCE 1982)
2004Dwight Freeney, Indianapolis, AFC16.0
Bertrand Berry, Arizona, NFC14.5
2003Michael Strahan, N.Y. Giants, NFC18.5
Adewale Ogunleye, Miami, AFC15.0
2002Jason Taylor, Miami, AFC18.5
2002 Jason Taylor 18.5. second was Simeon Rice with 15.5
Bill Stanfill had 18.5 in 1973 but NFL only compiled sacks starting in 1982
I know there's speculation that had they been keeping track of sack stats back in Deacon Jones' heyday, then Strahan would only have been like 2/3rds of the way toward breaking the single season sack record in 2001. LOL.
ok MODS isnt there a trvia forum or something
Another "wannabe" mod. Let me guess, you read all of the responses, and your best response is to moved the thread......congrats to you my friend, congrats.
Also, is there a pointless post forum?
It is now your responsible to ask the forum that question everyday. Thanks....
JT, but the second one will be Ahmad Brooks in the 2006...
Jt, i remember it like yesterday
Yes I was the first to answer right.
2002, Taylor had an NFL-best 18.5 sacks, becoming the first Dolphins player ever to lead the league in that category
i was thinking trace and JT both did it... but i guess Trace just led the AFC in, i wanna say 2000... i remember him and JT both had pretty big years, but trace put up more sacks...
Don't worry Ohiophinfan, I'm old and crazy too!!!
Bingo! Usually, the calendar questions are lame, but I was surprised to learn JT is the ONLY Dolphin to do this.
armstrong was like 98 when he played for us. no he had a few good yers here but was better in chic
Were sacks even a league stat back in the days of Stanfill and Baumhower? Perhaps they were only kept by the team?
It was JT in 2002........
