Think he will be enshrined as a Dolphin?
Jake Long and Pat White...What an idiot.
Really solid football mind, tough as nails ambassador to the game. Good for the Tuna.
Great coach, horrible GM
Good for Cris Carter finally getting in.
I know this is not related..
but can someone please tell me how Warren Sapp got in?
HE was good.. but no way a hall a famer...
Am I way off base?
Another great Dolphin!!!

He was the most dominant DT of that era if I recall. That being said, I think he should have waited a few more years. I would have put in Strahan or Haley before him.
A great football mind...for YESTERDAY'S NFL.
God bless him he just never evolved away from being in love with "big" players.
Regardless he is deserving, his tenure here was the only black mark on an otherwise great career.
Kind of surprised Strahan didn't get in. Figured he was a first ballot Hall Of Famer. I'm sure he'll get in next year.
THat still looks so weird, lol. I will never forget that dropped touchdown pass against his old team that tank our season that year. What a waste of Ricky's epic season.
Good for him............
That's nice, you just posted a picture of the lobster trap game, in which Cris dropped a crucial touchdown pass.
Not as weird as this
Clearly a far better grocery cook than buyer. Shame it took the Fins experience to painfully confirm that incontrovertibly.
gets elected for ruining the Phins still?
Warren Sapp acts like a goofball on the NFL Network, but he was a Hall of Famer on the field. Carter is well deserving....I am not sure why Tim Brown isn't in...Many Raiders probably won't make the Hall because of Al Davis. I think Brown's numbers were as good as Cris Carter's. Parcells was a great coach, but average GM/Executive.
I loved Chris Carter, well deserved. Thurman Thomas in a fins uni still isn't right. Oh and I just threw up. I can't stand parcels. Didn't like him in ny,new England, ny , Dallas or Miami.
Parcells deserves to be in. But **** him. He's a ****ing douche.
Yeah I was shocked Strahan didn't get in. He should be a shoe-in next year.
I'm shocked Ogden got in already honestly.
Chris Carter was the best possession WR I've ever seen not named Rice.
But that "drop" should've been caught...although the pass frankly sucked.
yes! irregardless of the fins
WTH does "irregardless" mean?
Its an absolute crime that Charles Haley cant get a foot in the door. It adds insult to injury that Ogden got in on his first try. No offense to Ogden, who was a good player, but Haley was a great player for multiple Superbowl teams. 100 sacks and 5 rings and you cant get a foot in because some writers didnt like your mental illnesses? Utter pettiness from complete morons.
Some questionable decisions this year, but Parcells wasnt one of them. He deserved to get in and probably should have been first ballot. We are still dealing with his horrible hires(it amuses me that those who defend Ireland to their last breath also bash Parcells for only making bad hires), but his record speaks for itself.
Agreed. Definitely Haley. Sapp should not have been a 1st ballot HOF'er.
Why would they do this?
If they didn't they would be blasted by the media and some "fans" for not doing so. They took the high road by congratulating him. Very classy and smart move by Ross and Ireland.
Ogden is the type of player that should have been waiting about half a decade before getting in. Seriously. He's Hall of Fame material but not first ballot. Come on now.
Ogden on the first ballot surprised me. Very consistent but I assumed they'd make him wait a few years.
Sapp was incredibly disruptive in his prime. In those games against Favre, Sapp was so frantic and energized it was like a different species. And he did it at a spot where it's extremely difficult to dominate via the pass rush, with so many double teams and an occasional triple team. The outside guys have a considerably easier time. Haley wasn't in Sapp's league.
I love how Parcells is dismissed as yesterday's NFL. Meanwhile, during that same time period we were stupid enough to put together a team better suited to Tutu Goodell's NFL. An unforced error if there ever was one. If Parcells had emulated Shula in the '80s and built a pantyhose passing team he never would have sniffed the playoffs in the brutal NFC.
Two Super Bowl wins in that time frame was certainly worthy of Hall of Fame. Particularly the way he accomplished it, patiently moving up the ladder for the first one, and then overcoming an injury to his starting quarterback for the second one, winning the NFL Championship Game on the road as underdog against two-time defending San Francisco, quarterbacked by perhaps the greatest player ever at the position, and following it up by defeating Buffalo as a 7.5 point underdog. That was the best of the four Bills teams, and they were yet to be shellshocked and fragile.
Parcells definitely deserves to be in the Hall of Fame for his work with the Giants alone. Had he never returned to the game post-Super Bowl XXV, he'd have been in the Hall long ago.
For his work with the Dolphins, however, he deserved to be tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail.
Not true. Ogden was a 10 time pro bowler and dominated at his position. Just because he wasn't vocal or danced around (like Ray Lewis) doesn't mean he wasn't dominant. He was always left on island without help and as a result, his body of work often gets taken for granted. He also played at a high level for many yrs. That is also taken into account.
Haley is a better candidate than anyone who got in.
Parcells was a great coach for the NY Giants and defensive coordinator prior to head coach. His super bowl teams had some great players. As far as coaches go, his enshrinement just lowered the bar enough for a lot of mediocre coaches to now get into the HOF. Sad and pathetic. IMHO.
The selection committees continued ignorance of Bob Kuechenberg, who routinely won battles against current HOF'ers of his era, all-pro and all-NFL honors as well as the super bowl victories and perfect season, just shows that some of these selections are less deserved. Sorry for the homer rant.
