Arsene Wenger believes that Patrick Vieira will finally end his long-running contract saga by committing himself to a new deal before the start of the season. Gunners captain Vieira, 27, has privately told manager Wenger he will sign a three-year contract worth nearly £100,000 a week, which will smash the Highbury wage structure. It is believed that Vieira has agreed a deal in principle, although some clauses which will still give him an escape route are expected to be included.
