Damn not be negative and beat a dead horse but this just smacks us in the face and reminds us what awful compensation we got back last year for a top 5 "alpha" WR. I mean there is no comparison. Yea harvin is more dynamic and u can do more with him but marshall is 6'3 220 i mean come on we shoulda got a 1st rounder no doubt. Ireland got played. So when we had spielman as a gm he sucked by now all of a sudden he is some savvy personell guy?

People are quick to forget Marshall was just coming off another arrest when that trade was made.

Percy is younger and not as much of an off field liability

How many teams, at that time, were lined up to trade for the lunatic, who didnt want to be a dolphin anymore?

I'd be more concerned what this might do to their position in the FA market. Now with Harvin gone, they are free to get anyone they want at WR and almost have to. Hopefully that means they are going after someone else other than Wallace, as this could get ugly if teams like Minn are also willing to throw money his way.

Also, Harvin was demanding a trade, Brandon did not, so the Vikes had less leverage in the situation. and we still managed to get less

This is all you need to know when wondering why Marshall's value was only two 3rd round picks: Rap Sheet

Philbin wanted Marshall gone and Chicago was the only team willing to give up anything - how does it get better?

He's also a lot less productive. Hawks over paid because of what he could bring to the pistol offense they run. I think he's a great fit for them but still giving up a first is a tad steep. Also just wait till you see the contract they will need to work out to make him happy.

The rush to judgement made it worse...If he had waited until the charges were dropped he could have gotten more than two thirds.

I am afraid of that, too. Not worth anywhere near 12 mill per. Which is why the pundits are saying we will get him and there is very little competition for his services.

I Bet the Vikings will get Mike Wallace now!!!

He said he wanted to play with AP. No one wants to play for a no winning Dolphins team. Just think how Peterson will open up the passing game for Wallace!

We also only spent two 2nd round picks for Marshall in the first place. Then consider the fact that Marshall was having off the field issues, as well as a regression in his play on the field. I do still think it was a bad trade, but it really wasn't that bad all things considered.

The Dolphins wanted to get rid of Marshall only one team offered them anything. You take what you can get and move on.

I hate hearing people say move on or stop living in the past.

I promise each and everyone of you the day Ireland is fired is the day I start being positive again... Until then we are doomed to repeat history and wallow in our misery and bad decisions.

It's a different situation because as it has been posted, the Bears were the only team really interested in that headcase, and vice versa. However it still doesn't negate that Ireland gave in to below market demands.

Why is anyone surprised.... This is the calling card of Jeff "buy high sell low" Ireland.

Next year when Vonte makes the pro bowl (that's right I said it) everyone on here will be screaming "we gave up a pro bowler the prime of his career for a second"?

Marshall may have dodged that assault charge (no matter what anyone declares, I'll never be convinced that his victim didn't score a big pay day) but undermining every QB not named Cutler and with a standing 2 strikes against him, Marshall was one more impulsive act away from a significant suspension. Anyone who want to compare that to the Harvin trade has an anti-Ireland agenda that's as transparant has Rex's crotch around strange mens' feet!

Interesting analogy...but most of that ish occured before BM was a Phin.

But some of it DID occur after he was a fin right? you can't really whitewash all of it away.
